Dominique Greneche provides a broad overview of thorium nuclear fuel cycle, which can be considered as a complement or even a substitute of the classical uranium fuel cycle for the operation of nuclear reactors.

I liked this talk. Thorium helps with some of the current problems with the nuclear industry, and MSRs help with other issues. But really, the issues are not as apocalyptic as they've been made out to be. Its all just a matter of engineering. Personally, I don't think chemical energy of any sort should be used for grid power, but it makes sense for most transport needs.

I liked his style for sure. Agree the issues with Nuclear are not huge, there have been historical mistakes, like every oil spill or mine collapse, but these have led to improved designs and procedures. As mentioned in a previous video something about radiation seems to have an innate capacity to scare people/public, this is by far the biggest problem I can see for the industry.

More abundant, harder to burn, safer to use if can make the intended device operate according to the design specification, less mess to clean up and shorter waste storage. 40years knowledge from experience is to be respected. Research has shown that the design problems are not insurmountable.

This is my understanding of an advantage, a great advantage, of liquid fuel is that fuel can be drained to a safe storage location in the event of an accident.. Containment is inherently simple, rather than complex, because the system is not under high pressure. 25:56 (Maybe he is referring to claims re ADS, not liquid-fuel designs generally.) We should expect regulations to adapt to the different paradigm of liquid fuel. Some statements from the White House suggest that is happening. Accounting for economic externalities would make fossil fuels less profitable. It would favor LFTR and other environmentally-friendly industries. why so many upvotes? this is unclear rambling.

This guy, no matter how much might be the guru of physics on French, simply failed to deliver anything during the talk. Except for listing his own career achievements. When showing how US did a U233 bomb in 1955, a guy asks him: "OK how?" and he replies: "I don't know. Well, you know.. I do of course". WTF?!?? Like his some kind of wizard of Oz keeping his little dirty secret from us to keep us safe ?!? He just performed some political double speak, never actually giving a valid argument on anything. It has waste. Ok, how much? Show some comparison? it has proliferation risk. Ok, of what kind ?? See, this picture from 1955 it has!
