This is true, however, I believe coming from Haiti was a really big factor in all of this. Her health problems and constant state of denial says something. She ate a lot because in America, it is hard to go hungry. Children receive help from the government and are fed. There is food everywhere you look. Fast food restaurants, all of this delicious steak, pork, fried chicken, commodities usually within a few miles reach. Haiti is a place where people are impoverished. People go hungry in Haiti. She was slim because she likely lived in a state where she ate all she could and finished her food because she didn't know when she was going to eat again.

Her mother wasn't able to be there with her dancing :(

Couldn’t be prouder! My daughter was at 368 and is now 166 and has stayed that way for the last 9 yrs. Way to go!

Currently at 350 myself need to get down to 210. My weight comes from being unable to walk or stand for long due to leg birth defects. It's a long story. The immobilization caused massive weight gain and the weight gain causes the pain in my feet and legs to get worse. It's a catch 22!

Empathy Quill...touché, I’m the same. I realise how very easily I could become grossly overweight, especially now that I am disabled and cannot walk.

Life is so hard and humans are survivors. I am sure they are doing fine. My parents passed away too. They were not fat, but they have their own problems, such as hypertension. The good thing is that they enjoyed life with friends, danced, enjoyed beer and wine, but NOTHING really matters. No matter how good your life is, it will end in sadness. That is a fact that we do not wanna acknowledge. All the kids we are proud of, we shall leave them one day. And the kids will also realise that we were caring and proud of them when they were kids, but they are never aware of that because they are to young to realise that. That is a major source of depression when people grow up.

Its not until you start it. You can’t be a heroin addict unless you do heroin and you should know to ask help ahead of the time. Like they said in the video they tried to hide it. And from the video she doesn’t seem to the will power and she literally had so much support. Fact of the matter is we all go through hard things in life and no one else can do t for you except you. Unless you want to get better really and go through the pain etc. no one else can do it for you. I know people with addiction and they often refuse to see a problem no matter how much you help them and try to tell them. They often start to weigh you down as well. And honestly since she can’t move the daughters could just stop feeding her so much and she would have to loose weight until she can get out of the bed and go to the fridge so in reality her daughters were enabling her.

It maybe an addiction but to say that her daughter's enabled her I don't agree, you seen how quick she can change and them girls are having the police called out to them because they won't do whatever it is she wants her 14yr old couldn't attend school. When someone comes along and wants to give you all the help you need anything and everything is available for you grab it and think about your children not food, halfway through she started to cheat then think it was funny so what can her daughter's do about it ?? The dad walked out when she got to 400lb leaving the girls to deal with it and all the more reason she should of really tried harder with the support network but sadly food was the winner and she passed away in 2012. You cant claim children are enablers. They are children. They dont understand the gravity of the consequences. And yes true you cant be a heroin addict until you try heroin. But the addiction is still there. Genetics come to play in addiction. You will find an addict is always an addict recovered or not. And an addict is always addicted to something and that can always vary. It's not the substance but the addiction that is the hardest to battle
