Yeah that's true. If you look at the top ten, I think that I only saw one pair of ice dancers that used their own coaches. russians are the best and many countries and types of ice skaters get them.
Oh, and the Americans do? Right!!!!!!!!!! Actually, I believe that Khokhlova Novitski skate like gold medalists even more than D/S. but if you think that the French, Americans, and Candadians are gold medalist dancers you should open your eyes.
Grishuk and Platov in '98, for one. I even saw a documentary before where a former judge herself admitted Bourne and Kraatz deserved it. Berezhnaya and Sikharulidze didn't deserve to even tie Sale and Pelletier in '02. Those are to name a few. In pairs figure skating Russia always wins. I know this is dance, but this team will be fixed to win somehow-after all, it's figure skating, even if there are new "rules".
xxlxenaxxx, there have only been 2 olympic gold medalists in the pairs (one in the 50's and the other in 2002, which I'm sure you remeber the controversy, right?). Canada has had only 3 olympic golds in FS history, so I think your corruption argument by them is without validity. Also, when were the last pairs/dance contenders to take gold from America you are talking about? You should educate yourself not only in history and the Russian dominance of the ISU, but also in basic English grammar.
All I kept thinking was, Is it over yet? It really wasn't horrible, but the problem is I felt their movements were the same. It tried to tell a story but choreographically it laced something.
Those poor little girls were doing the best they could with those big dumpsters strapped onto their backs. Even if she couldn't see the scoreboard, the scores are read over the loudspeaker. I can't believe she talked to them like that.
Oh yes, it's because of my Nationality. I was using those as references. I can use Belbin and Agosto also, who I felt deserved gold in 2006. Ask yourself this question, why is it ALWAYS Russia who wins in pairs figure skating???? Because they don't have a great pairs team for 2010, they're resorting to dance, but I wouldn't be surprised if the Russians somehow win golds in both Pairs and Dance. Let's see who has the last laugh in 2010, I know I'm right. Figure skating will always be fixed.
I really don't get the fuss over this team...and by the way they've been judged the this season and last, it looks like they will be the Olympic champions in 2010... sad
continued... Her dress is aweful. And I really have a hard time with her hands flying everywhere. She is trying to portay the waltz feel with her arms, a sense of elegance but her floppy and sloppy arms and legs turned me off. They need to try finishing each move - extension held in their arms and legs rather than it feeling like they are rushing through the movements.

I second the comment on lacking originality...this program just didn't pull me in. And it doesn't help that when I heard they were doing Watlz Masquerade that I immediately thought of Krylova/Ovsiannykov... they did a wonderful job of interepting this music...its just sad Domnina/Shabalin aren't at that same level or can take it to a new level
I don't find any team that wins through corrupt judging a fair win. The only country who seems to ever win through corrupt judging is the Russians. Obviously, you don't know your facts. Why don't you do some research about past judges who were caught and then come back and talk. I don't need to wait until 2010 to know that Domnina and Shablin will unjustly win against teams like the French, Americans, as well as the Canadians. This team does not skate like Olympic Gold Medalists.
~ Their skating is very polite, very clean. ~ There's a lift that is totally identical to Belbin/Agosto's. I prefer the B/A's lift. ~ She lifts her legs in the same position at least 3 times in the presentation. A little repetitive ( ~ Her dress is awful. ~ Her hair is awful. ~ She was totally rude with the kids.
