This is Domyos W100 treadmill.
It costs about 200EUR or 250USD
It’s a mechanical treadmill from the Decathlon stores.
The quality is somewhat adequate to the price. It’s neither junk, nor a bargain.
The biggest pro is the compact size, light weight and the acceptable looks. Rather on the delicate side, easy to move and easy to live with.
The console’s got simple, monochrome display with basic info and a phone holder known from other Domyos equipment.
The frame seems very fragile but it did fine during 3 weeks of my tests.
W100 folds and most importantly it has no electrical engine.
It’s perpelled by the movement of the user. When going forward and uphill, the gravity pulls the user down and slides him and the belt backwards. It’s like walking uphill on slippery mud. You’re walking, but not moving forward.
Usable walking speeds are 3-6km per hour. The belt jams slightly, when walking under 3 and above 6 km per hour the running would start. However the hand rails are badly positioned and you hit them with your hands when swinging fast.
The movement of the belt is quite fluid, due to the flywheels.
You control the speed with a lever that puls magnets from and towards the flywheel. That gives it resistance and eventually affects the speed.
And realistically the belt speed changes constantly and every step we take is at a slightly different pace. It’s a bit awkward at the beginning, but you easily get used to it.
There is also the option of holding the rails while walking but in the end its neither comfortable nor healthy for ones back.
When the minimal speed is too fast you can further reduce it by putting something under the end of the belt and decreasing the incline.
In motor powered treadmills, the speed and fluent motion is controlled by the electric engine. The engine also greatly boosts the motivation to keep up the pace. There is none of that in here.
So on the plus side the Domyos treadmill is cheap, small and sturdy enough to walk on it and do a light everyday cardio.
If you weigh under under 100kg it would last you at least a couple of years before it falls apart. And in terms of 200UER treadmills, this one is as good as it gets. Having said that, if you keep your motivation up and train for more than a few months then you will definitely need to upgrade it to a proper motorized treadmill. This one is good enough to get you started, but you will need something better to keep you going.
Feel free to leave comment or ask a question down below.
Thank you for your attention.

Thank You! I was wondering if the resistance works weel if I walk backwards on it. Have you tried that?

Hi Thank you for the review. I just wanted to check what the magnetic resistance is like? Are you able to turn it up relatively high so when you walk it gives you a good workout or is it hardly noticeable?

It's acceptable but the bottom line is: pay more and get something better.

@@axxo any recommendations (UK based) that provide decent resistance that also doesn’t break the bank?

Hi, why do you say this treadmill is only for the beginning and in a few months will need to upgrade to an electrical one? But if I want it only for walking 2-3 hours daily? Could it be ok for at least 3-4 years? I just need it to burn calories daily because I walk at home and almost 18 hours only sitting in front of my laptop.

The built quality is just not there. This is for 2-3 hours weekly, not daily, no heavy users.

Hi, I am very happy to find just this product being review by you. Lately i am trying to find cheap treadmill which i can use for walking during work time. My idea is to put this under my standing desk and to walk as much as i can while worktime. How do you see my idea. Will the product be suitable for this? Thanks.

Hi! If you can make it work. I did use different treadmill for this purpose and it worked ok. With this one you will probably need to push the desk with your hands a little bit, just to keep the pace stable. Other than that, there shouldn't be a problem. Worth noting, It gets boring after a few days and it gives some aches in the back and legs. I managed to do 2-4 hours of this type of desk job a day. Good luck.

Can u please advise a good not expensive model? Walk, run, starters, not big, easy to use?

It's either good or cheap, there is no good and cheap. I'm super satisfied with all Spirit Fitness treadmills and this would be my no 1 recommendation.

Not bad. Bit quieter then motorized treadmill, quieter than washing machine, louder than dishwasher.

Hello, I have a question: Why are the mechanical treadmills not flat on the ground like the mini electrical ones?
@axxo
@axxo 2 года назад
Hi, you need the incline and gravity to pull the user down and backwards. You're going up while sliding down in the same time.

You can adjust the spring that controls how close the magnet gets at fly wheel, this controls how easy the belt will move. It's located on the underside pretty much directly below the blue lever, you have a spring and a bolt which acts as a stopper for the plate. You need to adjust the nut on that bolt to bring magnet closer. I noticed straight out the box the magnet didn't even move at all at the last 2 positions because the bolt was stopping the spring. Once I adjusted the wheel so that there was only 1mm gap at max tension this deadmill was much better for ATG. Also elevating back of treadmill and using resistance band round waist to simulate sled helped. I'm really happy with it now, it's not as lightweight as I expected going by some of the reviews, a shame it doesn't come out the box set up properly, but I still consider it a bargain at the low price.

Hi, hope you can aswer this. I bought this treadmill a few days ago and discovered an issue from the start. If I try to walk swingin my arm (like a normal walk) without holding to the side or frontal bars the speed goes too fast and I end up at the bottom of the treadmill and I'm forced to step out. Insted if I hold to the bars I can walk normally and steady, without moving down. Is this normal? Can I do something to the mat to make it stedy when I'm not holding the handles? Thank you

Try adding some height under the back of the deck. This should reduce the speed. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-SePJYQLplhU.html

the width of the walking band is about 38 cm, it's quite narrow for someone large like me, people should be aware of their anatomy prior to any purchase, i'll pass on this one.

Somewhat yes. Less comfortable, less resistance, less user friendly but it would suffice with a lack of other options. I wouldn't buy it just for this purpose only.
