I scored the XM5s at a large retail store for 135… someone must have had an off day. I know they are the newer model, but I’m fairly satisfied with mine (considering what I paid for). Not sure if you explored the equalizer settings. When I did, mine came alive. Plus i love that you can customize the EQ completely, go with something that it recommends to your taste, or go with a preset EQ. The tech part is something I can see your point in. However, most people that just want a pair of headphones would likely not go with 400 dollars ones I think. I actually purchased an adapter for the hardwire cable to my specific phone (2 pack for 7 bucks on Amazon). I recommend going to Best Buy and they have many of these models and other brands on display for you to try out, that way you aren’t guessing (but it works for reviews!) I’d recommend trying the ULT headphones by Sony. Half the price you paid for those and more bass-heavy, and also include the EQ setting capabilities. Anyway, good luck!
