Ooh I never would have thought to put some ginger in. I love seeing how different cultures approach the same dishes because you will always learn something new and expand your pallete. Going to have to try this!
My mom has been doing that for ages and I have been trying to get her to stop for just as long 😭 I hate the taste of ginger, ans she always adds so much that it overpowers everything else
@raerohan4241 I've never tried it in pasta , but it seems like it may work depending on the mood lol. personally I love adding oregano basil and black pepper (and garlic of course).. maybe a bit of red pepper flakes
Ginger works really well with tomatoes, especially fresh tomatoes. They tone each other down and knock out a lot of the acidity and heat and really bring out the natural sweetness. In my experience at least. Canned tomatoes need a little bit more work though since those are very acidic alone.
Most cooking videos seem to be about the poster stroking their own ego. Because of course they have a zester and fresh citrus fruit and fresh garlic and a garlic press and a pasta maker and an air fryer. I mean, who doesn’t? 😂
@@LeahIsHereNowI have all those things (except the pasta maker)😂 to be fair, I think y’all gotta understand the fridge/pantry of someone who cooks everyday looks completely different from someone who barely/never cooks
@@cottoncandace7704 sure can. Make sure to cook everything down before adding the pasta. Then use the starchy water to thicken it all up. Add butter and you're done.
To those folks bashing this nice lady for her take on spaghetti, listen up! The traditional Italian spaghetti dish that most of us know and love didn't exist prior to the middle of the sixteen century in Europe because tomatoes are native to South America; grown by the Inca (later cultivated in Central America, and in Mexico by the Aztecs). Tomatoes were then introduced to Africa around a century later. I appreciate different takes on spaghetti. After all, like I've stated before, today's Italian take on spaghetti isn't the original.... Because there weren't any tomatoes in Italy before the conquest of the Americas, I feel that everyone's take on it according to the tastes of their own culture is valid. Practically every dish that's prepared today anywhere is based on an older recipe from somewhere else. From migrations to conquests, food - like people - have been changing and mixing for centuries! Don't fight over food, just appreciate it and enjoy! 🖖
You are absolutely correct. If the Italian can provide necessary ingredients to all the people in different parts of the world. And maybe because of taste preference. I am a Filipino and Filipino style spaghetti is the best version of spaghetti for me. That is why there is a word about globalization, I don't like Italian spaghetti because it's too sour for me, maybe because of the tomatoes 😢, sorry
This is very true! Also spaghetti was introduced from asia, I'm not sure if they were using wheat in asia or why spaghetti is different to the asian noodles we know, but we don't really see asian people lamenting about the Italians and their spaghetti habits 😅
@@meimei7246you don't know nothing about italian food. 😂😂😂 italian food is one of the most varied in the world, but you stop only at spaghetti and pizza😂😂😂
Even I don't like my pepper and tomatoes fully blended, you need texture for pasta. This recipe is great for my weekday meals, so quick and versatile, I can tweak to my taste. I will definitely add this to my weekly menu planner. PS: I usually prep my ingredients the night before, I also freeze if I have time to make a batch. Nice one Ify, so glad my niece introduced me to your channel.
@DJRenee Frozen or not, it still wasn't peppers, that was definitely carrots & peas she added, and it looked like some lil' pieces of green beans was mixed in with it too, lol
But she did. Listen to her. She is literally saying what she is using. Unless you want her to measure it and say it, but I know most of us African we don’t measure anything. We use our eyes as a measuring cup lol.
I like mine with garlic, onion, oregano, basil, bay leaf, ground beef, sugar, salt and pepper, bell pepper and italian sausage. The peas and carrots will go on the side.
@@jasonjones7205 You've hit the African side of YT shorts. Africans usually do add ginger or ginger powder. This is probably a new world to you, look up Nigerian spaghetti/Ghanaian spaghetti/Jollof spaghetti
WOW Chef Ify 👩🏾🍳, your Spaghetti and Suace 🍝🍜 with Veg looks mouthwatering,Colourful, appetising, with aromatic flavours. This meal is a banger and looks absolutely delicious 😍😋. Well done 👏🏽Enjoy a happy and blessed stress free peaceful weekend and week ahead with your family. God bless you all in abundance. Amen 🙏🏽👸🏽😘✨👑✨💛💐🧡🥰🥰
This looks delicious, but us Italian Americans would never put ginger in our spaghetti. My Dominican husband also has his own twist on spaghetti, which is also delicious, but arguably not spaghetti anymore.
All these "italian" tomato based dishes originated in West Africa ... the cuisine traveled to the Italian peninsula through immigrants bringing it to sicilly and it spread up north. In other words don't tell the originator how to make the dish they originated.
See how how HAPPY they look chatting with each other🥰🤭🥰 Chi Chi, The earlier you realize this man is the ONE FOR YOU and stop letting your mother come in-between both of you, THE BETTER FOR YOU.📌 FIX YOUR HOME CHI-CHI🙏
Nice video... Cooking is actually stressful & may be seen as being complicated cos its not just about cooking, it involves so many things... @chef Ify, swear that you did all this prep urself without any assistance or gadgets, also you washed, cleaned and tidied everything yourself...
Most cooks may use a blender or mortar to blend their tomatoes , there are new veggie cutters in the market to help chop veggies faster as well Of course if you don't have help, you'd do the dishes. If you see cooking as self care, considering that most store bought foods would have lots of salt, sugar and oil etc , Spending 30 - 60minutes cooking and cleaning is not a big deal considering we spend more than that time on things that don't matter on the long run. Some spend that same time on a queue in a fast food shop or waiting for the delivery person or even walking or driving to the restaurant. Meal prepping also goes a long way to save time I work full time, have kids and cook everyday. Is it hard? yes, but I have chosen my hard.
I do all my prep myself and I clean up after. I prefer to do it alone. I know I don’t have to, and I know I can ask for help but I just like to cook for my family by myself. A lot of people can’t do it as easily but some people can. There’s nothing wrong with either. Ify may do it alone or may use help. She can say cooking is easy and she will be right. You may also be right to say it’s not. My point is, easy is subjective.
Thank you! I hate when people say “Now here’s a quick and simple recipe…” then they go on to use 18 ingredients that are repetitive and some unnecessary
Thought you said "white people making cooking look so complicated, why?" Which I thought is hilarious lol! I gotta start posting my cooking. To show how I throw down
What seasonings and herbs did you use??How long should we cook? How to boil Spaghetti? What kind of flame to use?All these are not covered in this video... Please make a complete video so that others can also try your recipes.Thanks.
Ciao, yesterday i've cooked a pastasauce with lentils, much garlic and Chilis, it was delicious, many greetings from brunswick in germany and please stay safe 🙃
Cooking isn't difficult just have to pratice and learn how to cook and I like video like this where I look, listen and learn so I can do it too ❤❤❤ looks delicious 😋🤤🍜
I agree w you. The Italian rule of cooking good food is keep it simple and use fresh ingredients. Oh and if your making marinara sauce don't add ginger ;D
