⚠️ IMPORTANT ⚠️: according to nail techs I follow, gel does not ruin your nails: improper removal of gel does. Or in my case, a new tool I bought which was way too sharp and dug into my nail - which is why I switched to a plastic scraper after. When you're soaking off gel polish, it should easily flake off or be soft enough to scrape off with ease. If you're struggling, then keep soaking until it comes off easily. What's worked for me as aftercare is to hydrate your hands and nails and give them a break for a day or two before applying your next gel/nail polish. I finally have an update to my rubber base experiment! In conclusion, I liked it a lot and it definitely helped keep my nails from breaking or cracking. But it is not a replacement for hand/nail care and proper nutrition, etc, it is simply a product to add structure and strength to your nail (not a nail tech lol I just like to learn about things) Clickable links are in the Community Tab OR you can screenshot this caption and click the link in your camera roll:) 🍰 Birthslay Cake Cuticle Oil (use code thegraytergood10) : www.cirquecolors.com/products/nail-cuticle-oil?bg_ref=IV8C9OdyC0 (aff) ~~~~~~~ 🛒 Amazon Storefront (nail care, nail art essentials, filming and lighting setup, etc) www.amazon.com/shop/thegraytergood 🎯 Target Storefront: goto.target.com/c/5014184/1799385/21323?u=www.target.com/creators/theegraytergood 💧Drip Ring (code thegraytergood) mariejune.com/discount/thegraytergood (aff)
Hey I’ve been struggling with keeping my nails long I used to bite them and now they are super short and I’m ashamed to wear them out because people are always telling me how short my nails are and I get sad because I’m really trying to grow them out but the pink part of my nail won’t grow my nails look like a 6 year olds nails so I was wondering if you recommended anything that’s good for me to put on my nails so that they can grow or so that I can at least stop biting them. I’ve already tried that nail coat that tastes bad but it doesn’t work I also apply cuticle oil every week and my nails aren’t growing at all so yeah I was hoping you could help
@@thegraytergoodyeah, they’re supposed to be like fake nails so some end part should be on the end, do you have any friends you could do it on? Or if you’re really alright with cutting your nails you could do it
@@thegraytergoodthat’s definitely false advertising, please just shorten your nails to the stickers size so you can test wearability, I wouldn’t chop them for something that’s been proven wrong 😩
@@onii_na4141Ive been struggling with picking at my nails/skin for many years now, but I managed to have really nice nails one summer. Then slipped back into the habit for many more years. I aspire to get nice nails I can paint again one day, it helps to know someone else did it!
Me too, been a nail biter for as long as I can remember. You’re not alone my friend 🫶 I can never seem to kick the habit. I’ve successfully stopped multiple times but I always fall back into it. Damn anxiety.
Here is how to make the stickers work. 1. Roughen the surface of your nail with a file so they stick. 2. Use an alcohol wipe to clean. 3. Find the right size of nail. 4. Stick it to ur finger. 5. Cut the nail to the shape you want with scissors (step 7 is an alternative for this) 6. Cure under UV light for 60 sec. 7. Cut with nail clippers to desired length and shape (alternative) 8. File to smoothen that’s it! hope it helped!
If you do chop them, I'd love to see more short nail art! I've had really short nails my whole life so I have no clue what to do other than solid colour lol.
the gel strips are meant to replace polish, not be extensions! Keep your nails, try the strips instead of polish, and review them. They're a good option for when you don't want to fuss with polish
true but in all of their ads they use them like extensions. that's also why they've been receiving so much backlash, because they don't work like that at all. i think as regular stickers it's cute but seems cheap and low quality, especially without a top coat
i think she meant that her nails are still too long for the strips she bought. so if she kept her nails this length and applied the strips the top of her bare nails would still peek out 😂
@@nony690 The brands I've tried all looked great, but even with a base and top coat have a tendency to pop off unexpectedly. If you want to wear them for a specific event, put them on the night before or morning of, just in case.
Love it! Yes, gel does not hurt your nails but improper removal does! So be careful with removing, also the more you take of gel and re apply the more pores your nails can have which can absorb bacteria and lead to infection so beware of that as well 🫶🏼
I feel like I need to have short nails to do it so I can see if the gel really does cure super hard? Like I saw someone dig into an apple and I wanna see if that’s legit
@@thegraytergood I've been using gel strips for two years. They are not meant to make extensions. The "viral" videos infuriate me. The strips are meant to replace gel polish/builder gel overlay.
@@thegraytergood If you get a good brand they definitely set super hard. I routinely open soda and cat food cans with my (medium short) nails while wearing them. You can also add a single coat of gel top coat over them to smooth them out and make them even harder/last even longer, if you want. It doesn’t affect the removal and it stops the issue where sometimes they snag your hair.
your channel has been so great for nail care, nail design ideas, nail art tutorials, inspiration, and motivation to help me continue my nail journey, thanks so much for always bringing a smile to my face
Same! I just did a gorgeous gel manicure for the first time ever. I love it! I've never really been a "nail girl" cuz my nails were too weak. But I'm really taking care of my nails now and the only risk to them is my clumsiness 😅
The gel strips don't require acetone soak off for removal. It's a sticker. You just need some nail oil around the cuticle and use a wooden stick to rub under lifted areas gently
Not how I do them, lol As a nail tech, if you do it properly, you need acetone or a safer product like Offly Fast. Mine would barely come off with acetone. Maybe the brand I used was better than most. maybe my technique was better than most 🤷♀️
I absolutely love your nails, they are gorgeous. Coming from someone that has been biting their nails their entire life and has been trying to stop and grow them I love your nail art and feel so inspired by how well you look after them xx ❤
omg thanks for trying it out i always wanted to try these but kept seeing mixed reviews, i will definitely use them but not as extensions!! also i think it's so cool ive been following you for so long and just found out you live in the same area as me!! ive literally seen the murals you have done and thought they were so beautiful!
Literally my favourite RU-vidr, I got into nail art after seeing you do AMAZING designs - I would like to see those nail strips because they are very controversial! 😁
You could still use the half cured gel strips without filing down your natural nails. Place the gel strips further down your nail than at the cuticle line so they hang over the edge. Press down and cure. Clip off the overhang and file flush to your natural free edge. Take your builder gel in a bottle (Orly FX, I believe it was?) And fill in the space remaining on your natural nail with builder gel from the cuticle to just over the edge of the half cured gel strip. Paint over the clear builder gel with a gel polish color that coordinates to the gel strips and fade out the edge to ombre over the gel strips. Apply a topcoat to seal and wha-la! You're done. 😊 The nice thing about half cured gel strips is they're able to be used with other gels. Hope this helps!
I love the korean gel nail stickers, im allergic to gel and acrylics and used those stickers for ever and the thing is they stretch! My nails were growing so long because those stickers protect them so well, but the stickers stretch A LOT! just have to be gentle. I hope someone whose hesitatant sees this comment and help them make decision 😊
If you were curious and didn’t know, that little white spot on your nail that you showed at the end means your low on iron, I have those on my nails as well so I ate food with more iron then they went away, hope this is helpful😄🥳🫠
I always chew on my nails i cant help it i think its anxiety but i want to try to stop biting them, and these vids, always help me bc i rlly want long nails like yours!❤ty!
You are literally so so pretty and when you do those videos where you cut all your nails of and grow them out with us telling us tips and tricks along the way has helped me grow my nails much longer and healthier so mabey if you cut your nails now once again it can help other grow their nails out and you can try out the gel nail stickers with the short nails
Those Ohora gel strips do work!! I swore by them before I realized how much easier (and cheaper) it was for me to just paint my nails with gel polish that self levels. I would cure the strips once and then file them down. Then apply 2-3 layers of really good gel top coat. If done really well, then they can last for weeks. I use my hands a LOT, so they tend to wear down fast for me personally.
I dug out a chunk of my nail removing polish one time too. It seems to be the chemicals in the remove that softens the nails 💅 the longer you soak them.
okay but buying that rubber base coat you recommended saved my nails. they didn’t break for weeks, even after I took the base off. That’s NEVER happened before.
OMG, yes this happened to me too, literally I was like cutting my nails and biting them and then I just cut a chunk out I was freaking out. Oh my God I just break my nail. And then like a few days later it refiled when my nail grew
According to nail techs gel doesn't damage your nails but obviously they get a little bit thin every time you use it so i recommend you to everytime you use gel live them in peace for like a week and then use it again so they are not gonna turn really thing
