Went to Netherlands in 2004, being a regular weed smoker in my home country I was keen to sample the locals smoke, went to a cafe and browsed the menu, I thought since its Amsterdam the weed is properly really strong so I went for a strain they called Thai and rated mild, got it and smoked it and it worked but it was mild and left me wanting to go higher, so I picked something in the strong and heavy ratings, from memory I think it was called Northern Lights, smoked it.... 5 hours later wtf did I just smoke as Im waking up on my dutch friends living room floor.

Amsterdam coffee house, is that still a thing? You can find weed anywhere in the world now.

Always found it interesting how much people dream of going to Amsterdam as some sort of amazing drug haven like they aren't already just doing it in their own country already... "Dude we've got to go to Amsterdam to smoke weed and do mushrooms" you mean like we already do here?

Spent a bit of time studying in the Netherlands and locals absolutely use the coffeeshops. If you want to find the best smoke spots follow the locals.

Smoking weed is not doing drugs. I would say drinking coffee is doing drugs more.

Never found any truly strong weed in Amsterdam in the early noughts, going to all the big coffee shop to the smaller out of the way places locals go. Made me realise that some of the shit we were smoking in the UK was hyper strong (you know, its your 7th joint of the day, your mate says 'try this homegrown I just dried' you have 3 toots and feel clinically insane within 5 minutes). I always put it down to regulations re THC content?
