yooo, i watched this video before going and i didn’t even finished, thought yall were just being extra…. but was i wrong lol. I just came back and rewatched this video and yall hit it on the nail. we’ll never go back again.
Parents are paying their money too for their kids to enjoy. There's enough adults only resort y'all can go to if you're anti children. Children don't need to apologize for being kids and going to a kid friendly resort.
Your 💯 % percent right, we definitely mentioned we had no right being there and if you have kids this might be a good compromise. Kids were well behaved and didn’t not interact with us negatively at all. We were just describing the environment, especially for people who think like us. I appreciate the comment and you watching.
Imagine going to a family resort and complaining because kids are there.. I’ve stayed at 6 different RIU resorts and haven’t had any issues. I’ve also stayed at moon palace, secrets etc. The so called luxury resorts were no different and the food was terrible.
The kids had no impact on our review, they were all well behaved, it was an observation and an error on our part in selection. M has stayed at other RIUs and had a way better experience. This was my 1st experience with RIU and I kept it 💯. I figured it having kids was the reason for the watered down luxury, but you’re saying there was little difference ? This was the least luxury I have ever experienced for an all inclusive. Not getting service beach & pool side was really the breaking part for me. What’s the point ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.
Went there in November with my family and had a great time. We were treated nicely, staff was on point with everything for the most part, we would definitely go back there, thanks for sharing your video and review
@@VLogTrippin so during our 7 day I believe it was on the 4th day the towels in our room did not get replaced with fresh ones on time, they were a bit late with them and also the toilet in our room got clogged and it took hours for someone to come and unclog it even though we call front desk like 3 times. I can’t recall having any other issues during our stay
Hey there, just wanted to chime in from a Travel Agent and Consultant point of view to help your followers that might be looking to stay at a RIU resort especially in Jamaica. RIU Classic resorts are not luxury resorts by any measure. RIU PALACE resorts offer room service, better food and alcohol selections. There are 7 RIUs in Jamaica. Classic family resorts are the #1 RIU Ocho Rios & #2 RIU Negril. Classic Adult Only is the #3 RIU Montego Bay. #4 RIU Reggae is an ADULT only party themed resort but not a PALACE resort. These are all entry level RIUs in Jamaica compared to #5 RIU Palace Montego Bay ADULT ONLY, #6 RIU Palace Tropical Bay Negril and the BRAND NEW #7 RIU Palace Aquarelle. (Both family friendly) These are Palace resorts. With RIU PALACE resort expect an air conditioned lobby compared to open air lobbies with just ceiling fans. Also upgraded liquor choices and now ELITE level clients get top shelf liquors. This is new for RIU. Palaces also have poolside and beachside wait staff where the classic RIUs only have it of staff is available. Palace resorts have better food selections and room service. You will also have access to the other resorts on the island if staying at a palace resort but you have to arrange your own transportation. If you are looking for dat passes it will depend on the vacancy at the resort. Day passes sometimes are limited if the property is very busy or full. Normally $100 to $150 for day passes from 9am to 6pm. RIUs are great value resorts but you pretty much get what you pay for. Stellar service and luxury amenities are not part of the RIU brand. Price points, convenient locations, water parks, fun atmosphere is what RIU sells. Big buffets with lots of choices to get you by is what you should expect. You will most times not have a culinary experience that will wow you. Linen and bedding will be average. Ocean Front, Ocean View and Garden View are all relative to the resorts design. Take for instance 90 percent of the rooms art RIU Ochi are really Ocean View but if you have plants in front of the room’s view they will consider it garden view. If you see the ocean without a plant obstruction it will be categorized as partial ocean view. If it’s on a higher floor it is ocean view. Far off to the sides overlooking the beach is ocean front. Jr Suite rooms have a sitting area compared to the entry level rooms that don’t have the sitting area. There are a few suites with large living areas and bathtubs at all of these resorts but normally only 4 to 8 depending on the property so they are normally always booked first. All and all RIUs are fun & practical resorts for their price points especially in the Caribbean and Mexico. Hope that helps
That front desk lady did not like you or your attitude and gave you a true attitude adjustment on your expensive vacation They always bring our luggage to our rooms, they always send someone to carry our luggage during department We went to Riu many times and it's about 200 if you loose your band, that clerkjust didn't like you
They didn’t like anyone and everyone gave them attitude, wtf did I just read ? lol 😂, I didn’t see a single bell hop, or even the device to move luggage around. We came in separately and had another person arrive all got the same experience with inconsistency of information. Nice try you can never blame the customers for poor customer service. I don’t even think 🤔 you been to this one ☝🏾. Maybe your capping for a different one, thanks for the comment
@@VLogTrippin yes,we always stay at The Riu in Negril and Reading your experience was shocking because my whole family loved Riu so much, when you mention which one we stayed at,many years ago, some friends from another you tube got robbed there, they said the rooms were very close to the roads and people would jump the fence and rob the guest and they said the entire Rui staff treated them like they were the criminals and wouldn't call the police They went into great details, maybe about a year and half ago I had friends that book the Riu ocho Rios and I wanted to tell them about those other people horror but I didn't want to be the party booper and it was many years now,so Said nothing, did you know they went and got robbed at the same ocho Rios one and they described how the staff treated them like criminals I couldn't tell them that I had knowledge but this Riu must be in a bad part of town
I work in customer service for 30 years,I loved helping others and sometimes it's the customers, I know the difference between been dissatisfied about the way someone treated you and when someone is down right been disrespectful on all fronts,I didn't even realize it was the Ocho Rios one you stayed at,I was just thinking the Riu in Negril
@@VLogTrippin the food and drink was delicious, our favourite restaurant was the Asian buffet one near the main lobby, we ate there 3 evenings out of 7. Our room was clean yea. To be honest I never used the WiFi much there except one or two video calls home to the UK and again had no issues
Took my short trip.. It wasn't to bad the people were nice. Rooms weren't super grand but doable. They do not take orders on the beach, it wasn't an issue for me since everything was pretty close by. The rooms were clean fridge stocked. The food... was okay, it was truly a hit or miss situation. We did a week, did a tour, shopping, and more shopping, we did go off the resort, that's where the good food is. I would for sure go again. I think you guys should give it another shot.
im not one to complain but M's room mishaps were too much for me especially when I paid for certain things and didn't get it. It's the audacity of them saying they're upgrading me to a downgrade at that point id be headed back to check in and get what I paid for. It just sounds like they gave her Oceanview room to someone else and tried to gas her under the false pretenses of an "UPGRADE"
lol her view was the same as mine, we could toast drinks 🍹 from our separate balconies.. I paid for garden view lol 😂… but then again I also told I got an upgrade. When we realized our rooms were almost indistinguishable. That’s when we realized we been swindled. If you guest I can’t see other rooms you would have been ignorant to the fact.
miserable people will never be happy no matter what. Was she supposed to walk you to the room . The charge for replacement wrist band is standard procedure. are you special? Not. Get over yourself. if you are dissatisfied move onto another assistant. Maybe she didn't like you. we don't need ya'll wid uhnu sour self. KMT
lol typical coconut 🥥 response, glad paying customers have to beg for customer service. The pricing should be standard not change based on how an employee that’s training is feeling lol 😂
Yes she was suppose to escort me to my room and get a porter or bell hop for the luggage especially if it’s a woman. It’s this a foreign concept or you never been on a vacation? And they would have got TIPS !!$$$
My practice is to come in early , check in, go enjoy the resort then come back when the room is ready so is it that i have to log my luggage??? What happens there?
The RIU is a family resort, why did you not book at an adults only resort if you did not care to be around children? As for you being personally served food & drinks, I won't even bother wasting my comments.
I literally stated that in the video, again the kids were well behaved and did not detract from our trip. Yeah pool side + beach side service + room service … that’s whole point of going to all inclusive. I had $150 singles to tip, guess how much we actually used ?
$450 if you lose the wristband 😂 I went to Riu Reggae and they definitely told me $250. Also why did you choose a non-adults-only resort? I could never unless I’m with my family LOL. Appreciate the review!
@@WhimsicallyBritt they also so told me $250, but M said she was told $450. I ain’t choose that place, I told M let’s go Reggae but she wanted to link with here friend. Her friend lazy ass didn’t want to drive over to Civilization where Reggae is. Yeah it was partly our fault, I know I stated that I’m beginning of the video. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Been to Riu several times and my only complaint is the food. The food is a hit or miss. Let me break down your video. If you have no children, stay away from Riu Ocho Rios. If you prefer a party vibe hotel, stay away. If you need help with your luggage, simple ask for help. I feel the day pass is who you ask as i always get my family day/night pass and never had any issues. The king bed is 2 double beds push together. The grounds are well kept. The waterpark is a great touch for the children to enjoy. I never had any issues with customer service as i dont go expecting customer service from Jamaicans 😂😂if i get it i am happy.
@@juliene994 ok I ain’t mad it … yes agree I thought I said in the video we were wrong for booking there. Yeah there was no assistance for the bags with the lady she asked and they told her they didn’t have anyone. But she’s been to other RIUs customer services was top tier and I been other resorts on the island 🏝️ 🇯🇲 better customer service. This notion that Jamaicans are incapable of good customer service is BS, at least you ain’t tell us we lying lol 😂 and it’s our fault. Thanks for commenting
@@VLogTrippin I don't think they are incapable I just don't expect great customer service from ma peeps. I am Jamaican too ...have you been to KFC? Took a public taxi/bus? Jamaica is a different world. You complain they just stare at you as if u are crazy 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Lmao 🤣 what energy we gave to the working staff ? At check in ? We did all the complaining in the video. What energy would one would have give for them not to have clean rooms and no internet 🛜?
Stick to adult only if you don't want children around you. I went there more than once and I had a great time. Why would you go to a strip club if you don't want to see naked women?
You got one point yeah stick to the adult only, however the kids were well behaved so they weren’t an issue. lol there’s part where there’s a naked man …. lol I ain’t wanna see that
I will play along, What were overly picky about ? Internet working intermittently, electricity intermittently, rude customer service, no pool side, no room service, no bell hops, no beach service, all the restaurants being booked, all trainees at the front desk ? Did you watch part 2 ?
@@Gypsytakeover We filmed this is one take after breakfast ….. waiting for our transfer back to the airport. We made the best of it. lol but love the comments that blame us instead of RIU.
@@shariecunningham192 did they carry your bags ? How are the Drinks ? Do you have service poolside ? how’s the food ? Do you have rooms service ? Where your rooms clean ? What did we get wrong 😑 ?
They seem like bitter people that don't know how to enjoy themselves and have fun. Maybe the had super high expectations, which is almost always a recipe for disappointment. The beach and nature look amazing! pools look amazing. buffets are always bad at all all inclusive resorts, but the ala carte's look great.
Our expectations were too high, how dare we, You haven't traveled much if you were impressed with that beach, its man made. Food in an all inclusive is literally half the draw.
Hopefully you got a crew + 3 or have kids, cause 3 of us was unable to salvage this lackluster experience. We want a refund plus reparations for emotional distress.
I have been to that resort a few times...and to be honest i just go for the vibes and not really for the food and amenities..the hotel is 3 star at best...its basic. I don't go there with high expectations,I just enjoy it for what it is. When I'm looking for top notch food, amenities etc etc,I pay extra and go somewhere else
