The real question is, did I spell is misakte on purpose, since I was talking about mistakes? 😉

@Kevin Powell, I was seconds from commenting that you’ve spelled that word wrong, until the second after where it hit me that you might’ve done it on purpose 😉

Oh yeah, this is relatable, this is what they should have in the educational system. I’m 25 and still in college, attempting to finish my IT degree, one year left should things go well here. Yeah, my instructors hardly ever gave me hands on experience in class, all I do is just read and take quizzes and write papers, mostly. But just recently I got back into Codecademy so I can get some experience with coding with various languages. I like some of my instructors, some were good with giving me hands on experience, some were not. But I say it is pretty important to get experience coding and such when you feel like you are ready to do so.

I know how to code but I have no idea how to make a web application. The problem is not that you watch a lot of videos, the problem is, that an insanely high percentage of coding tutorials are trash. Most people can't teach. Typically you are way better off learning how to code from people who have years of experience teaching i.e. Professors. I have yet to find a video which can teach me how to write a web app.

That’s the thing, watching hours of videos and doing nothing realistically doesn’t help. But if you watch bits by bit and implement them that is a far better way. But also don’t just do one thing and move to the next. Keep applying the things you have learnt thru one stage until it sinks in your head and it almost becomes normal writing that particular code. That is what I do and is helping

This is me. I have taken 10 Udemy courses and I’ve done a few projects, but they were very small. Then, I started doing “icodethis “ exercises upon your recommendation, and it has helped immensely, but I still am a long ways away from feeling comfortable. Starting my own projects is both exciting and incredibly frustrating. So I’m still taking courses, but only after I’ve finished putting in time on my own project. I hope it helps.

Similar to a video game. You can watch people play a game but you aren't going to git gud without actually playing the game itself. You might learn best practices but you won't become a speed runner or even competent without failing over and over.

Remember guys anyone who's trying to sell you anything is considering his sales first. Tutorial hell is real. But. Don't trust strong opinions from such dudes, here this guy smartly repeats a problem partially and suggests a non specific solution to promote his own content.

Its true and false because the développement langage its like other langage you have to translate content. When you want to start a project you have to make a maket on figma or you have to write what you want to do. After that you have to translate your idea in code langage. So watch video its not a problem if you build project at the same time and start to think like a developper.

Or maybe just start the project. Draw an outline. Think about how the site will work, what you want in it. And figure out what you can do by yourself, and what you can't. Then build a basic website based on the things that you have learnt, use effects that you can,and if you get stuck somehwere, you can just youtube it.🙂
