Girls can protect themselves, the fears parents have for their children are their own fears that they project on their children, you have to talk to your children, build a trust with them, guide them and love them, they will respect and listen to you. I brought my children up as equals e.g if I've taught my daughter to make her bed then I've also taught my son to make his bed, if my daughter can stay out all night then so can my son, and they do, as they got older they got more freedom because i built that trust with them.
Every country is different, every society is different and every family is different. Just because something works in America, etc doesn’t mean it can be practiced everywhere...people are different. Parents fear for their children as they know in our country(Pakistan) children are not protected. Same is the case with adults by the way. We do not want another zainab (the girl who was raped in Kasur) and we also know that our government cannot protect each and every individual as we don’t have the resources to do so, so as a preventive measure parents themselves don’t allow their children to do specific activities as no one is going to help us when the need arises. Either protect your children, put restrictions on them even if they don’t like it, to protect them or lose them forever

I think that if girls have their curfews then boys should also have some timings set so they don’t wander around late outside performing heinous activities. And this should be a part of their training so they grow up better and provide a safer atmosphere for women.
you see when a person rapes a female he is basically humilating her dignity ... it's not about the physical pain obv it's the emotional pain that comes with it the humilation... so when you publically hang a person the person is humilated in front of everyone so you know atleast somewhat justice is served....
