Traffic? If you live in the city, you don’t need a car. Use public transportation. Subway system is awesome.

If you're moving to dc you dont need a car. The metro and bus service is pretty extensive.

I accepted a 6 figure offer in DC. I went up there 2 days before orientation and immediately said no to the traffic. Instead of showing up for orientation, I headed back home to Ga.

The last time I was in the DC area, I stayed in Virginia and Uber to DC and back. That was less stressful than driving in DC.

The last reason is why I can't stand DC. Unlike most people, I'm not a workaholic or obsessed with careers. Family is most priority to me. That's why I moved from DC to live in St Thomas and became a bar tender. BEST DECISION of my life. I hate DC!

I'm originally from Brooklyn I been living in Saint Paul MN since 2001 the number one thing that I caught on about about dc you might need a car if you working a shift that begins 3 4 5 in the morning or if you a restaurant worker place closes after 1 and it takes like 2 or more hours to have the place clean and spotless.
@livingindc
@livingindc 8 месяцев назад
Yep then you would need a car for sure. Also Metro just proposed for a new budget to close the system at 10pm! It could be just scare tactics to try and shakedown jurisdictions for more funding though.

TLDR absolutely do not ever ever ever drive. It’s not as bad as this guy claims but public transportation is so good I’d willingly use it if it made my journey twice the length.

It all depends on your neighborhood. Overall you don't need a car, but depending on the neighborhood you may want one. You can message me directly if you're considering specific areas.
