I am doing shorts and reels last few months, and the most important thing is to have some kind of strategy. People now like expressive content, so make those and post them consistently (after posting something I usually use a bit of Famester so it is easier for my content to go viral). It is also important to watch how many times your post, how much you create, so you could possibly avoid burnout.

So, shorts are good for gaining subscribers, but long-form videos are better for making money. While shorts will get you more subscribers, these subscribers will likely not watch your long-form videos past 30 seconds, thus hurting your audience retention, and causing RU-vid to recommend your videos less. So, if this is the case, shouldn’t we just avoid shorts altogether? Or should we have a mixture of both long & short videos? If we have a mixture of both, what should the ratio of shorts & long form content be?

I think you should start a long form content RU-vid channel. And after a few videos make shorts from some of the most interesting parts from that long form. The people who watch the long form will watch the shorts. And people who do watch the shorts will most likely be interested in that type of content. So you can link your long form content in those shorts for people who are interested in it. Just an idea in theory. Not sure if it will work. But it definitely won’t work the other way around. Starting from shorts.

Unless your videos aren’t edited and have no sounds, narration, images, clips, effects, and somehow don’t require thumbnails, descriptions, or tags, then your channel isn’t “fully automated”. Faceless + using several different tools =/= fully automated.

4:11 correction the channel "words of wisdom" follows a narrative style with full length commentary along with background music. As per my knowledge this channel would not be affected.

I think starting first with youtube shorts and then change to long form content when you see results is also good. It depends on the audiences reaction however.
