Got old, goopy nail polishes that don’t work anymore? Don’t throw them away! Here’s how to restore them back to new again 🙌🏻 Disclaimer: Sponsored by RU-vid
Just shake the bottle to mix it. From my experience just rolling it isn't good enough. And if you want to use it, let it sit for 15 minutes so the bubbles go away and you won't get them on your nail.
As a nail technician, I do not recommend wiping the bottle with a cotton pad because the lint from the cotton can contaminate the nail polish. If you want to wipe the neck of the bottle, use a small piece of paper towel with acetone.
I had a polish that was completely petrified. Added a few drops of good quality thinner daily for a week or so, shaking every time once it was thin enough for that. Astounded that I actually brought it all the way back!
If I use the nail polish thinner, how many years can I hold onto nail polish without having it to go bad? Does nail polish expire eventually?? Thank you so much for your help.
Acetone works by dissolving the bonds between polish, probably don't want to use that. Nail polish thinner is Butyl acetate and ethyl acetate, the first two ingredients in 99% of nail polish
oh I need this! I have so many Essie polishes collected over the last years but they dried out over the years and yet I didn't want to them away 😅 as if I knew there is a solution

i had a pink nail polish, shitty brand but beatiful color!:( i had to throw it away.. it was all sticky! what a pity i didnt get to know about this polish thinner sooner
It’s been said that using acetone will give you the same results initially, but can break down the nail polish formula overtime. Nail polish thinner is the way to go for the long run. But if you’re going to throw out a bottle, and you’re in a pinch, you might as well try it anyway and see what happens!

Nail polish thinner is ethyl acetate and butyl acetate, the ingredients that keep polish liquid. It evaporates when exposed to air, so the polish will dry perfectly fine if it's mixed properly.
Nope! The whole reason nail polish "expires" is because the solvents that suspend the pigments and make polish liquid just evaporate when exposed to air. Regular use will make a polish thicker even when you're keeping the cap clean but having it be super gunked up definitely speeds up the process. There will come a time when nothing works to restore the polish but I've only seen that once and something clearly destroyed the formula. Hope that helped!
