I don’t care what Don Felder is done. I think he’s a pretty cool guy. Damn good guitar player and an all-around good musician. Nothing wrong with that.👍🏼😁😎😀🎸🎼🎶🎵👍🏼
I do not know these people but Frey and especially Henley always struck me as having the most massive, nauseating egos. Henley still does, he acts like his every statement is sooo important.
Nooooooooo ! His cheapest guitar is one that I’d never afford in this lifetime - throw it to me, Don! I was at a Rodriguez concert a while back, at the end of the show he leaned over and gave his guitar to someone in the audience!
Yes, agreed! I made similar comment before I saw yours. Wowee! I’d hate to see that guitar getting smashed up, apparently Joe Walsh frequently took out his frustrations like that - abuse of guitars!
@@fastted9390 Yeah. "Only" a fkn drummer who also plays the guitar, sang lead and backup (while drumming) and penned an impressive catalog of classic songs that still get major airplay on classic rock radio stations to this day. Don't get me wrong, Henley is a massive prick, but calling him "only a fkn drummer" is frankly laughable.
That just goes to show you another story were some politician almost broke up one of the best bands of all time tell me something are they good for anything God help us
Yes, there's always two sides of the story. However, I can draw a safe conclusion. Since Felder got a settlement from Eagles, that only meant his partnership with Henley & Frey were SO real in writing that the legals cannot ignore. Thus he was well retro-compensated with of course restricted disclosures. The fact he was paid speaks volumes. Why would H & F shell out dough for someone they call a traitor, unless the court orders them so. Also, Felder's case is different than Walsh & Timothy since they were never a true partner in writing but basically contracted "employees" of Eagles, Inc.
All these guys finally put this behind, and moved on. Although it left years of void, in one of the best bands of all time. I see them all as successful artist. They all had great options during, the split up. If they were able to put it in the past, I think everyone here should also leave it in the past, and remember all the great times, and concerts they preformed. It was the best of times.
Before Don Felder joined the Eagles they were a middle of the road twangy country rock band. Nothing really special. Don brought an edge and provided the music for their number one hit and how did Frey and Henley treat him? Disgusting.
@@milt6208 … I agree about the abuse. Before Don Felder it was Randy Meisner who was abused, a sweet guy who gave us Take It To The Limit the first Eagles million seller. Henley and Frey had nothing done to them to have to forgive anybody. They were the abusers who needed to BE forgiven! When the band re-grouped in 94, it was not because they had “put it all behind them” - Felder was contractually obligated to do Hell Freezes Over tour with them otherwise he might not have been there, Tim Schmit and Joe Walsh are not in the Eagles Inc shareholders, they’re paid to perform with Eagles like session musicians in a way. So yeah they would not have turned down work - that’s why THEY carried on playing.
Felder doesn’t want to leave it in the past. Many people do not know his name and his part in the Eagles since he did not have a successful solo career like Henley, Frey, and Walsh. When Felder tours, he is former Eagle band member so people can identify who he is. Without Henley and Frey, Hotel California would been an instrumental or not have existed. The only hit song he ever co-wrote.
In the docu The History of the Eagles parts 1 and 2 the story is told by both parties that Felder said " I Guess" directly to Cranston . Not the wives ? Which is it ?
@@milt6208 That's funny. Here on yt you need to look up the spoken version of how Life's been good to me so far came about. It's a pretty good story imo.
I think The Eagles ended at just the right time. Music was about to change. They were a 70’s band. Heartache Tonight was terrible. A mechanical drum? Wow. I Can’t Tell You Why was not good, either. They had lost their edge. They had become too slick. I believe they were all frustrated with their direction. They had become purely about money. The Eagles on MTV? I don’t think so. Their best could be found on the Volume I Greatest Hits disc. The Volume II disc didn’t compare. They were about to become a nostalgia band and they all knew it. The times had changed. The 70’s were an amazing time of creativity.
@@bitchnguy Because it took Don Felder to bring the Eagles to where Frey wanted them to be, a true rock band that could fill arenas. Without Felder the Eagles were just another Poco, FireFall, Pure Prairie League, Pablo Cruise
@@dw9034 and you're really stupid if you compare the Eagles to those bands, especially Pablo Cruise lol. You can take all their album sales combined and it wouldn't be near any of the top selling Eagles albums.
Eagles wouldn’t have been Eagles without Glen Frey. I have RA he was really a brave man. Till Hell Freezes Over Boys! P.S…..I’ve been to damn near every concert. First time you have raised ticket prices to make it unreasonable for the strugglers to attend. It’s a crying ass shame. And I wanted to see his son in Omaha. 300.00 for nosebleed seats, your out of your mind.
Have you ever noticed that people who got off drugs talk about when they were doing them with that happy gleam in their eye like they're proud of doing them. I used to get smashed on beer back in my younger days but I don't talk about it as if I'm proud of doing it.
Glen Frey seems like he had some anger issues. Talk about over reacting. I never understood y everyone stood behind Glen Frey and they all turned on Don felder. That was ashame. 😠👎💩😳
Felder is nothing but an ingrate. How else is anyone supposed to take the "I Guess" comment. Felder was just pissed he wasn't being paid to play that gig and too worried about what Don & Glenn were making instead of counting his fucking blessings Don & Glenn hired him into the band. You never saw Walsh and Timothy B. Schmidt complaining about the money split. Felder was just a guitarist in the band, out of all the Eagles songs, he has a total of 7 writing credits while in the Eagles.
Janet, I don’t know if they “stood behind” Frey as much as they really felt they had no choice, bc Frey seemed to rule with an iron hand. And you’re right, it’s a shame. Felder represents everything great about the Eagles’ sound, and for me, he was an integral part of the Eagles golden period, just as Mick Taylor was essential to the Stones’ best period. With both bands, they were never as good be after the departure of these fantastic guitarists. Felder/Walsh represent one of the best dual lead guitar combos ever.
@@bitchnguy ..”You never saw Walsh or Schmit complain about the money split.” That’s because Walsh and Schmit were/are NOT shareholders in Eagles Inc - they were paid (like session musicians) to perform with the remaining original members of Eagles Inc. When Eagles band was put together in 1971, the co-founders (Meisner, Leadon, Frey and Henley) were equal shareholders in Eagles Inc - a legal entity which shared out the profits of all Eagles-generated income, such as concerts, albums, memorabilia, etc. When Leadon introduced Felder in 1974, the band already had several hit albums under their belts, but they wanted to move away from “country-rock” to “rock” which is why they wanted “Fingers” Felder’s expertise, and Felder became the *fifth equal shareholder* in Eagles Inc. So when Leadon and Meisner left Eagles, there were only three remaining shareholders in Eagles Inc - Frey, Henley and Felder - and the money was supposed to be shared equally. But Frey and Henley and manager Azoff were helping themselves to the loot, which is when Felder started asking questions, and quite rightly so. Henley and Frey felt “entitled” to more money - but the legal document which formed Eagles Inc said otherwise. Also, how would it be if Felder had “felt” that he was entitled to more because of his prowess on the guitar and *he* had been looting from the Eagles Inc bank account instead of it being Frey-Henley-Azoff doing the looting… ? Yeah, I bet that there would have been a lawsuit.
Unfortunately the story of the Eagles will never really be known and memes like this will continue forever. Each member of the group has pretty much had their say with the exception of Joe Walsh. Suffice it to say none of them were hurt financially.
I think that Bernie Leadon and Randy Meisner walked away from their official shares in Eagles Inc (which is the formal legal entity, formed in 1971, that distributes to all four co-founders equal shares of the profits resulting from all Eagles concerts, albums, memorabilia, etc) , so their (Randy’s and Bernie’s) net worth is not the same as the Egoes’ net wealth cuz they walked away and kept their sanity. And let’s face it, it was Randy’s and Bernie’s experience and expertise (with their singing harmony and excellent instrumentation) that gave Eagles their characteristic and appealing sound. Bernie introduced Don F to Eagles in 1974 and Don F became the fifth member of Eagles Inc. When Bernie left he was replaced by Joe Walsh, and when Randy left he was replaced by Timothy Schmit. But here’s the thing: neither Joe nor Timothy were invited to be shareholders in Eagles Inc like Bernie, Randy and Don F were: Joe and Timothy were paid, almost like session musicians, to perform on stage with Felder, Frey and Henley, but had no share of the profits from Eagles Inc. Randy and Bernie walked away from a fortune, but saved their sanity by doing so.
@@milt6208 … yeah, good for him! I did hear tho that the case was settled out of court, with a non-disclosure agreement … so really Don F won, either way. I still say …. Without Bernie Leadon and Randy Meisner there’d be no Eagles Without Don Felder there’d be no Hotel California And really, after those 3 left, Eagles is just a band doing covers of the great songs they had when those 3 were still in the group
@@milt6208 😂. … but was Don Felder in Poco? I know Randy was, then when he left Poco to co-found Eagles, Tim Schmit took his spot. Then when Randy left Eagles, Tim Schmit again took his spot …
@@carlbaumeister3439 Many marriages don’t last. Most friendships don’t last. But a successful band is suppose to last forever? Felder hasn’t been an Eagle band member for 20 years and will never be a member of the Eagles again. It’s not timeless, the struggle is over! Get Over It!
Mum always reminds us, Be Careful with your choice of words ! ( or someone gonna get hurt really bad). In Eagles case, " I guess..." broke the camels back ( and the Takemine guitar). When Prince Charles and Princess Diana were engaged to be married, the reported asked him, " are you in Love"? And his stupid answer was, "Yes. Whatever Love means ..." Those words continue to haunt Princess Diana and eventually led to their divorce.
@@carlbaumeister3439 .. yeah, I think that would been a deal-breaker for me. Poor Diana was smitten with Charles and went ahead anyway and married him. Nobody can forget the positive impact Princess Diana had on the British royal family - insisting on being a proper mother to her sons and not handing them off to nannies, her personal touch in everything she did - from comforting and humanizing sick/dying children and adults, to donning mine-detection gear to highlight the plight of ordinary people in war-torn Africa, etc.
I wouldn't pay a nickel to see Henley and spare tire vince gill cheeseball the eagles classics. Its not the real band all they wants your money. Don't be a sucker
The Eagles Greatest Hits, Volume 1 is the best selling album ever. This album has no songs on it that Felder has any co-writing credits to. The Eagles had 19 top 40 hits to which Don Felder has only co-writing credit to (Hotel California) which exist because of Felder, Henley, and Frey. Without Henley and Frey, Hotel California would of never existed. Felder was in the right place at the right time being friends with Bernie Leadon, joining the Eagles going into their 3rd album. Without Frey and Henley, Felder would of been just another great studio musician instead of the ingrate that he became.

“Felder was just a guitarist in the band ..” JUST A GUITARIST …? LOL. “Fingers” Felder took the band out of the “country-rock” arena into the “rock” arena with his magnificent expertise as “just a guitarist” . What you’re saying is that only the song-writers have value - yeah, imagine Take It To The Limit being sung by anybody other than Randy Meisner (eg the really bad monotonous karaoke rendition by Glenn Frey after Randy left Eagles), or any other Eagles song being played by the local yokels at the bar down the road… yikes. Every member of the band contributes to the band’s success, like every member contributes to the success of the ‘ball team, not just the shooter or the quarterback.
@@bitchnguy … actually, before Walsh was brought into Eagles, Don Felder was brought into Eagles in 1974, by co-founder Bernie Leadon, so that Felder could take the band more in the ‘rock’ direction, and so that the band would have two lead guitarists- being Leadon and Felder, with Frey occasionally on slide guitar. When Leadon left in 1975 his spot was taken by Joe Walsh. In interviews (John Beaudin’s YT channel Rock History Music) Leadon said he left Eagles when he saw it becoming “the Glenn and Don (Henley) Show”, and also that it seemed that he was the only Eagle who wanted to get sober. Bernie was and is an accomplished musician on many stringed instruments, and had a solid grounding playing in bands that pioneered the ‘country-rock’ genre - but he was no pushover and left after FIVE Eagles albums. Let us not forget also that Bernie gave Eagles their first hit song that was written exclusively by members of the band - the iconic ‘Witchy Woman’ - all the music by Leadon, the lyrics by Henley. Walsh got into the band only because Leadon quit. I’m not decrying Walsh’s contribution, just saying that he took the spot formerly occupied by another great musician and singer.
