Garlits was required by NHRA to relicense in a Top Dragster before he could attempt the quickest electric dragster pass on any NHRA race track.

Had the pleasure to see Big Daddy at So Cal dragstrips in the 60's, and at the WinterNationals in 1971 with the RED. My parents taught me that the day you stop learning, just throw in the towel, cuz it's over. You can see is his demeanor, and hear it in his voice, that Mr. Garlits is a lifelong student of this sport we love. Thank you Big, for everything, and thank you CPTV for a wonderful interview with Roy & Don. ✌😎

Never been my favorite driver as a kid but I have really learned to love the guy . He has some stories. Seems to be a real down to earth man

Drag racing is in his blood and it will never go away. I was at Lions dragstrip in Southern California when he had his accident and again in Pomona when he returned with a rear engine dragster. He will always be a legend.

Had the great pleasure of seeing Big Daddy Don garlits back in the 60s at Houston International raceway. The track was outside of Houston in the small town of Dickinson. The track was owned by the Gay family. Many, many great memories of this track on the Gulf Freeway near Galveston! Garlits is a living Legend!! 😀
