That's stupid & if it's TRUE that is a pretty dumb thing to do for a show. Its about debating not calling up for a few seconds to sound like a jack ass when their is a 6 second delay on some of those idiots.
That was the classic moment of the year on the Michael Kay show. I actually heard it on the radio, but actually seeing Don react like he was passing a softball sized stone through his sphincter was classic. "Andrew! Screen them out"!!! 😅😅😅😅😅😅
OMG, I almost died laughing reading your comment! Was laughing so hard, I was seeing spots!!! It was like all the blood rushed from my head...LMFAO!!! 🤣😂
@@leonardomancini189 Agreed. I'd rather send up someone that's 0 for 2 compared to 0 for 20. If the 0 for 2 guy gets a hit, suddenly he's a. 333 hitter in the playoffs. The 0 for 20 guy somehow gets a hit, he's still hitting under .050 for the playoffs. You also have to consider the specific context of the situation. For instance, in the bottom of the 9th of Game 6 of the ALCS, I would've walked Altuve. Seems unorthodox I know, because all 3 of the next hitters had great seasons, but in the microcosm of that specific series, in those specific 6 games, the next 3 batters in the Houston lineup were hitting something like 4 for 60 with almost 30 strikeouts. Plus, Altuve has shown a flare for the dramatic a number of times in the playoffs (this year AND previous postseasons). To me, the move was to walk Altuve and roll the dice. You never face the guy that gets BETTER in the playoffs unless it's absolutely necessary. If they had lost after that point, you tip your hat.
i think the point is that romine, the "known to be not as good as Gary Sanchez" (at least at the time), was not going to do markedly better than Gary in that instance, given his lack of playoff hitting experience. And pinch-hitting in the first inning of a playoff game for your catcher is kind of ridiculous in and of itself.
If I had known who Don was back then, "I'll sit in the corner like Blair Witch and I'll write my notes for the Capitals" would have been my high school yearbook quote
For people that do not know. Later in the show Michael and Peter admitted that this was them pranking Don. Having watched this live was priceless, but Peter hints at it when he does his "Gil impression"
Easily the GREATEST moment of the show. LOL I was listening live and before I knew it was Peter I was just waiting for "Gil" to say something crazy as fuck and for both Mike and Don to go off on him. LOL I died when we found out it was Peter. So fuckin' good.
'I'll take an Islander call...' Dude, the Islanders are a NY playoff team currently playing. Giants and Jets are done. Knicks are trash, Nets should be solid, Rangers are rebuilding. Isles might be the red headed step child of the NY sports market, but at least they are going to the playoffs.
Im laughing the whole time LOLs this shit is ridiculous... I am actually tearing up with laughter here... and i seen this video 3 times already... The face palm at the end gets me every time ROFL
That was funny, but listen to this one: Bill "Moose" Skowron (spelling?), former Yankee first baseman, was talking to Mike Francesa on the FAN one day. I think he said he was batting sixth in the game, and with the bases loaded in the first manager Casey Stengel pinch hit for him! He was flabbergasted at the time, to say the least. Of course, Bill wasn't a catcher but that certainly was an unusual move.
Gary Sanchez is a liability to the Yankee chances to reach the World Series. How many strikeouts and pass balls will Arron watch this melt down. Sit him down please and let him stand by if Romine freezes. Please Gary needs to help his team by sitting on the bench. Let him join Stanton. They can keep themselves occupied and watch the Yankees win. They both absolutely STINK.
Lol it's a testament to Don's intestinal fortitude that he hasn't succumb to the "Three martini lunch,I drink my dinner." level of burnout associated with decades in a high stress work environment.
