This song was stuck in my head for 30 years, I've been looking for it for a long time. It sounds so good to actually hear it outside my head. Brings back so many good memories. Thank God for RU-vid.
5.46 where the synth bend goes into the end title card was epic . This is what I loved about this season. I happened every week. Peake had got the theme variations into his own 84/85 style with him playing the Fender slap syncopating with the synth bass and the right combo of synths . I helped produce the first CD release back in 1999 that led to Don releasing his cues with Universal .
The stunts done by the character Dalton were way ahead of anything seen on TV at that time. This was long before the skills like "Parkour" and "Urban Running" were popular. This was a few years before I started studying Bujinkan Ninjutsu so needless to say I was impressed with the concept of this type of body movement.
There’s nothing quite like the retro techno music from the 1980’s. This decade actually had great music and songs, there’s just music, scores, and arrangements like this that’s just not made anymore. There’s also television shows like this that’s not made anymore, this was actually real entertainment and not like the junk we have on television now. This was actually feel good tv back then.
THX! Many people don t know it, but this episode was actually a back-door pilot for a series named "All That Glitters", wrote by Glen A. Larson. The leading characters should have been David Dalton (L. Charles Taylor), Joanna St. John (Joanna Pettet) and Archibald Hendley (George Murdock), all introduced in this Knight Rider episode. That s why Michael and KITT are a little bit in the shadow of David and Joanna. Surely this soundtrack would have been used for "All That Glitters". Cheers
It was actually created by Robert Foster, the shows Executive Producer, and the producer of the spin off. Robert W. Gilmer co wrote the episode with him, together they wrote 12 of the 22 episodes in Season 2 of Knight Rider
“All That Glitters” was a potential hit... with a more down-to-Earth, martial arts-centered “B” team of the FLAG. Unfortunately the show that was eventually produced was “Dalton’s Code of Vengeance”, which was maybe a pilot and two or three episodes which were awful and didn’t invoke either Joanna or the George “God” Murdock character.
For me, listening to this score reminds me of how the show was groundbreaking and so futuristic in so many ways. 1982 was the early days of synthesisisers and Don Peake & Stu Philips were using cutting edge technology at the time.
@@t333rbo Idk, what they used, but I guess as far as digitals go, they could have used Fairlight CMI, and later on FM synthesis became available. Still most digital synths at the time were useless, and I believe all synth sounds used in Knight Rider could have been done using analog synthesis. I don't know what did they use again, but sound quality and nature of the sounds indicates those were in fact analog synthesizers.
@@piotrmalewski8178 there is a thread online where someone says 5 or 6 players were used all on different models. Possibly a CS-80 / Jupiter 8 / Prophet 5 - don't quote me on that it's just what someone else said. There doesn't seem to be many Stu Philips interviews about this stuff online
I just saw this 2 part episode last night on DVD (slightly remembering it from 30 years ago), and it is excellent, the music for 'David Dalton' and acrobatics and fighting stunts were spectacular (this was all brand new type of stuff in 1983-84 tv). If only they could have had on scene where the 'David Dalton' character wore a speedo at the pool.
One reason that Michael Knight and K.I.T.T. were hardly in the episode that this music was used for, is that David Hasseloff, who had recently got married to Catherine Hickland back then, want some time off so that they could go on their honeymoon.
Great theme for the opening of this episode. Was the first time I had seen anyone display that type of agility on TV. I think the mysterious guy's name was Dalton or something. I really thought that this could have been a spin-off episode for his character. Good Stuff
Exactly how it looks during a sunset on I-80 or i-15 summer time with the Great Salt Lake in the distance or i-10 going east during a sunset from Tucson
i tought that im the only one who likes this song but over 20.000 people here :O david dalton was great ( especially his jumps) would be great if there where some more episodes where micheal and dalton work together :) dalton would be a good member for the foundation
sadly, the piece of soundtrack i liked the most in this episode is missing: what plays the moment eduardo o brian starts hunting david dalton down, gets outside the house and unleashes his hounds... those few seconds impressed me, even if it was just some quit background noises
I can find a little Metal Gear Solid soundtrack in this track. I wonder if the composer of the first MGS was influenced in any way by the score of Knight Rider. I love the bass in all the KR scores!
makes me think of roaming the jungle, but this represents the genetic government agent, David Dalton. though Micheal Knight and K.I.T.T. were mostly not in this episode it was great! one of the best. why in Hell did they follow up with the abysmally bad "Let it Be" with Hasselhoff singing in a rock band and very badly too. cmon! The Knight Rider, a lone crusader is better than this!
Saw this episode recently on television. The critics response to it was pretty bad, but I disagree. It was a very fun 2 parter and David Dalton would have been an awesome sidekick & good addition to the whole series. Too bad they didn't make him as a recurring character. Free running segments were pretty well done too for the times.
Come on nbc/universal bring back a reboot/sequel to the 80s series because the 2008 series was crap. And bring a new knight rider video game to ps and Xbox.
For me the worst episode of KR. Michael and KITT were only secondary characters and that jumping kid was the hero (I know it was pilot for a spin-off, but still...). But soundtrack was very good, not as good as Stu Phillips´s, but one of the best of Don Peake.
This episode was emotioning because all the times came in action that man who wanted to help Michael for investigate, it listened this music and he was fantastic because had a incredible gift to jump fences higher than normal, like 2-3 meters so he was very able to go into the places without anybody found out. 🎥🎥🎥🎥🎥🎥🎞️🎞️🎞️🎞️🎞️🎞️🎞️🎬🎬🎬🎬🎬🎬🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼👍👍👍👍👍
