They really gave you the wrong food coloring for candy. Water based food coloring makes chocolate freeze up because water and chocolate don't like each other. They should of done a oil base to mix with the candy melts. These guys seem like drop outs from school seeing as they don't even know how to do their homework. It's one of the most basic things to know when making candy, especially chocolate. It's why we don't just put chocolate in hot water to melt it, its why we do a double boiler to melt chocolate and are careful no water gets in it. This is so so so painful to watch.
Just about to comment this. As soon as she pulled out the food coloring I was like “oh no, that’s not gonna work is it”. It’s honestly atrocious, can we give kids quality crafts that aren’t literally doomed from the start, please?
I didn't see this before I commented, ahahaaha. The only place she could've used water based coloring is dying her marshmallows before making the treats.
Widely known fact to those of us who bake: Chocolate Seizes when introduced to water! NO baker or candy maker would EVER use a water-based food coloring on white chocolate! They literally set you up for failure. Also, am I early enough for #NerdEficationsquad? I LOVE these videos!
You're only meant to use gel or powdered food colouring on chocolate. Brandable clearly doesn't care about the qualities of their kits here if they can't even be bothered to make sure the kit works. #nerdeficationsquad
That and it also would react that way if the chocolate was really old. Since it already melted when she opened it, it could also mean that it got to much warmth one way or another
Yea, holy crap, I saw her pour that in and cried a little. It's not her fault, obviously, kids aren't gonna know what it is either. You would think they wouldn't be chocolate though, since they say candy melt, and I didn't think candy melts had that problem so much. They have stabilizers and stuff.
Hello!! I can answer why the chocolate turned into that consistency. It’s because chocolate isn’t meant to be mixed with any type of water. Water causes the particles to cling together, creating those lumps that you see happen. If you wanted to color chocolate, you’d need gel or powder food coloring.
Also I wouldn't be surprised if they just included white chocolate rather than chocolate melts which have a different composition so that they can melt smoother (so those who don't know how to temper chocolate correctly don't need to). Even before the colouring went in it looked a poor consistency. 😞
You are correct but not fully. You would need to use powder color or oil based coloring. Not gel, gel would still cause the chocolate to have the same problem.
Yeah.. I knew that the chocolate would seize with the dye because most people don't realize that they should use gel dye or powder dye to color chocolate.. that should've been included in the booklet for sure. I mean.. a lot of things needed to be added into that booklet, but still.. lol
Yup I make chocolate lollipops and apparently whom ever wrote the instructions did not know this or did not care. I would think that they would have tested it before writing the instructions and putting this so called kit together.
How do you frick up rice crispies? I mean the effort put into this kit was not existant. How sad. Bright side your featured Patreon has almost 5k more subscribers now ^^
That was 100% my assumption. It was either that, or the wrong type of 'candy melt' for what they were wanting. Also the older the chocolate the harder it is to work with. I make Fudge for my whole family around this time of year, and one year I made the mistake of using chocolate i had left over from the previous year, and nothing I did worked, and I use the double boiler method. So not only do I not use the waffer candy melts like what was supplied, but i buy fresh chocolate. Either Chippets or Baker's. Better melting, consistency and flavour.
Just noticed that the book says on the cover corner that it doesn't include the marshmallows or rice crispies are not included...so this thing is more a decorative kit (not a good one) rather than DIY kit.
They need to use OIL BASED color and not water based color. water plus chocolate equals seized chocolate. You could add veg oil to bring it back but still no the average person knows that.
Powder dye would also have worked, even though, it's not that vibrant. I literally slapped my face, when I saw the liquid touching the chocolate and waited for the rage. How stupid can one company be? Or is it just brazenly? Ò___Ó
Oh sorry I think you typed that wrong instead of saying no average person knows that I think you meant to say no average person in culinary school knows that
@@ricky_x it is when smooth melted chocolate gets water in it then it turns chunky and kinda looks like dirt, you can always Google it or RU-vid to see what it looks like.
You didn't do it right Jackie! After putting the green dye in the candy melts and putting it in the microwave, a miniature Frankenstein creature made from the icing is supposed to rise up from the bowl.
MESSAGE TO JACKIE! Do you remember when Moriah did the rock art video and it as well was lacking in supplies, again specifically the main thing in the kit...THE ACTUAL FRICKIN ROCKS!
I don’t know if you’re going to read this or not but with a dye that they use for the chocolate is liquid dye chocolate which destroys the chocolate chocolate dye is very expensive and a specialty item you can’t make any kind of food coloring with chocolate the dye Has to be a specific dye it looks like syrup Thick syrup so essentially the chocolate was pretty much destroyed With the dye
𝕎𝕠𝕝𝕗𝕚𝕖_𝕕𝕒_ 𝔽𝕝𝕠𝕠𝕗_𝔾𝕒𝕔𝕙𝕒 actually I meant the Jackie only paid $20 for the kit. But I didn't know 20$ and 20£ were the same value. Thanks for letting me know 💜
@@Whitney_Sews Well of course it has, my point was rather that this craftkit is trying to make people pay for things that already exist and are availible for free (there's a video with a better version of the frankenface for free on youtube, with better instructions!) , which Jackie also pointed out in her con-list.
The food coloring is water based and you cant mix water with chocolate. They should have givin you gel food coloring because that would work because it is not water based.
Wow! I didn't know this! What's interesting is that I made child's play themed Rice Krispy treats over Halloween, and thought it was rough that I couldn't get regular food coloring. Guess it was good I could only get gel!
First things first, candy melts are not real chocolate. Any form of liquid (even water) that gets mixed in with candy melts, will end up garbage. Microwaving after a liquid has been introduced just makes it worse. If you would have continued to microwave it, you would have ended up with a rock. Learned that from Girl Guides. They should have given a paste or oil based dye.
RandomlyBeautiful13 it not food coloring its icing because when jakie was like reviewing the you know the ingredients and the food coloring container is trannslusent
Jackie, can you do a review on Crayola DohVinchi because 7 times (I counted) this video was interrupted with an add for this product. I WANT REVENGE!!!
As a cake decorator I have had to melt chocolate and put food coloring together you’re right this kit does not explain what to do because no matter what the food coloring up they give you is going to seize up unless you add oil or have special food coloring stuff so this kit is already setting you up for failure....I’m actually salty with u on this🤬 you didn’t do it wrong.... they gave u food coloring that has a water base not a oil base....this kit is a rip
The selfish money grabby nature of these "creators" is sickening o__o I feel like companies just slap stock images of the "creator" on the box, put on their name and call it a day.
@@azadalamiq well obviously, I called the creator money grabby, so of course I implied they had a say. Maybe I meant to say that the creators just let the companies do whatever, they just put their name on the crap kits. Sit back and grab the cash ;)
I havent watched it. I have no idea what this kit is for. But the words "Crispy Art Kit" activated my fight or flight response. And i told someone I would make their teeth flaccid today.
@@Bloodlustvengencetib boi I think they know what flaccid means, they were just saying that they couldn't imagine what flaccid teeth would look like in real life cx
I am so glad I just go online to get ideas or use my imagination to make decorated cookies and sweets. These kits are a joke, they just slap something in a book and in the box. Very sad.
your chocolate seized probably because they were using a water-based colorant. water and chocolate they don't mix. I love you channel! I don't comment much but I love watching you videos over and over while I craft thanks for making me laugh.
I bet you leaked so much salt into those treats that they aren’t even edible anymore edit: I know this may not be a big deal to most. But OH MY GOD, TYSM FOR THE HEART I LOV UUUU
The food dye is probably water based which made the chocolate do that cottage cheese thing (my guess from my basic baking knowledge) there should have been a different type of food dye in there to mix with the chocolate
I was surprised last week when I saw craft city and a few other RU-vidr kits at joanns... all I could think was NOOOOOO this is a real craft store dont do it!
To fix the chocolate melt when it does that, add oil. It will help smooth it out. But those chocolate melts looked bad from the beginning before you even added the color.
I have never commented before, but I do love to bake... and I cannot imagine spending $20 to decorate RICE CRISPY treats... one of the cheapest "desserts" to make! And especially not $20 for just the decorations when you still have to buy everything to make the actual treats!
ugh I can’t believe they’re charging $20 for a “kit” that instructs you to literally destroy what little ingredients are included in it 😫 when I saw the food dye and the candy melts I knew this wouldn’t end well
Me too. My mom used candy melts for decorating treats growing up and she was always adamant about not getting water in them. That dye alone makes this kit so not worth it.
I can't believe they only give you a little bit of melts too! Like jfc the kit is instructing you to dip and brush on for many treats, why you skimping tho?
The issue with the chocolate was that the colourant should have been a gel one. These are normally more expensive, but they should have known that would have happened with regular food colouring.
You: *does art kit* You:*does it amazingly and better than what I could do* Haters:YoUdiDiTwROnG Me:wow I wonder what they would end up saying for me ;u;
I came down here to say this, happy others know this too :) Adding a little bit of coconut oil or veggie oil (may not taste that good, but) will help with the water-based food coloring fiasco. They should include oil-based ones if they don't want angry people. Or colored candy melts.

Anyone else lookup the definition of colorize? According to Marian -Webster Colorize : to add color to (a black-and-white film) by means of a computer First used in print 1979 So the word means something completely different and isn’t even a synonym.
If you look at the eyes on the Frankenstein image compared to the eyes they give you are different. I started to think that they got the image from google ;-;
melted chocolate can not hold water i am a bakker. this is a fact do not use liquid colouring in chocolate it destroys it. if you want to colour it use powder colour xx llove your vids Thanks for the heart xxx
If they intended you to use the colorant in candy melts, they should have included oil-based coloring. It was 100% the kit including the wrong supplies.
Agreed. Water based food coloring and chocolate melts do not mix at all, the chocolate will seize up every single time. You need either oil based ones or the powdered food colors. >.> This kit is a huge disappointment and I would have pissed to spend $20 on this when it's really just a poorly constructed decorating kit.
Would of loved to see the price comparison between the “kit” and all the items bought separately. You probably could have bought all of the items including the Rice Krispies and marshmallows for cheaper than $20! I would honestly be so ashamed to have my name associated with this kit...
Ren Roberts Plus you’d have so much extra after the activity you could just have some cereal for fun :V It’s a damn shame company’s don’t give a fluff about producing something good for children. This “kit” was doomed from the start with a water based food coloring mixed with candy melts (aka fake sugar chocolate).
You have saved me from wasting money on these different kits. I was intrigued by them about a month ago and found your channel right after. So thank you 😊! I watched so many of your videos within a few days, I love your personality. Anyway..I would've bought some of those for Christmas for my kids, if not for you!

Their tree looked like a moldy slice of pizza. The Ninja Turtles are disappoint. I'm going to be more helpful than this craft kit and give y'all my super secret methods to enhance the base crispy treats recipe and make them not only yummy but feel fancy as fluff: Unicorn Dream Extra Mallow Treats Base Kellogg's recipe Tsp butter flavoring Rainbow cereal marshmallows (measure with your heart) Rainbow non pareil sprinkles (or your favorite I like these cuz they crunchy) Measure out cereal in a bowl and add as many dehydrated cereal marshmallows as your salty heart wishes. Make your mallow goop according to directions adding your butter flavoring as you stir. (This really elevates your treats people will be stunned at the deliciousness and I'm giving you my secret for free cuz I love y'all). Combine goo and dry ingredients, press into a greased pan, cover with as many sprinkles as you please. Enjoy! PB&J Krispy Treats: Kellogg's Peanut Butter treat recipe 1 tsp almond extract (brings out that nutty flavor in the best way) 1/2 cup Strawberry jammy bits (or the chopped dried fruit that correlates with your usual jam preference) Measure out your dry cereal and add your jammy/fruit bits. Eat a few for quality control. Does the fruit to cereal ratio make you happy? If not sprinkle on a few more. I won't tell. I'm not your boss. Make your peanut butter mallow goo according to recipe, adding the almond extract. Join all these glorious ingredients in a bowl to mix thoroughly then press into a greased pan. Enjoy! Nutella and White Chocolate Treats: Kellogg's recipe for peanut butter treats but replace the PB with Nutella or a yummy hazelnut spread you like. 1 tsp coffee flavor (doesn't make them taste like coffee, it just enhances the chocolate) 1 tsp almond or vanilla flavor 1 cup white chocolate chips melted until smooth Measure out your cereal in a bowl. No extra this time. Sorry little crispy rice bebbies so lonely. Not for long, though! Make that Nutella goo according to the recipe (subbing out the cereal) and add your flavorings cuz you so gourmet we can hardly stand it! Mix the goo and the cereal together thoroughly then press into a greased pan. Now it's time to party! And by party I mean fling liquid chocolate. At your treats. Fling, drizzle, pour, pretend you're Pollock. Be free! When you have your treats covered in a manner that pleases you, let them cool completely then devour. There you go. I hope someone appreciates my super special secret recipes. 🤪
pretty sure i’ve had that same “writing icing” and it was considered gel food coloring. this whole thing is a scam. videos like this are good for pointing out how shitty these companies can be when it comes to quality control.
