Right. I felt that camera shopping section in my soul. As a recovering min/maxxer research fiend, I came to the same conclusion as Shaq (there is rarely an objective max and half of the features you debate over are ones you never have or never will care about again).
You never do anything half assed and this video is no exception. Thanks for going into the little things that most people wouldn't think about like delivery costs and grill covers. These are the things that separate you.
Why did I watch an 8 minute smoker review if I live in an apartment and in a state where I can only comfortably cook outside for maybe half the year? Because Shaq's videos are just that good, even if he sometimes puts on cute little thematic costumes.
Highly recommend springing for a PID controller, especially in cold climates. I bought an aftermarket one and it made my cheapest-one-you-can-buy pellet grill actually a pleasure to use
I haven't even remotely considered purchasing a smoker / grill, and won't in the foreseeable future. But you still made me hit that like button and genuinely chuckle while trying to follow the fast paced ending of the video. Great work as always ! Thank you
Most people have said it better than I can but your videos are so refreshing. This is what product reviews should be and I wish you did more! Love my pellet smoker so much.
I got an RT-340 last year and it was probably my best purchase. I used it for smoking a brined thanksgiving turkey and I can never go back to oven baked turkey again, it was so beyond delicious. 20/10.
This is the best review for anything I have ever seen. I got a cheapo pellet smoker two years ago for black Friday and it's one of the best purchases I've ever made!
I got a used pellet grill off of Craigslist for a damn reasonable price; that thing has quickly become the best grill I've ever owned. I actually had to RTFM to figure out how to work it, but once I knew what I was doing, it's been extremely reliable and easy to get great results.
I just use a good ole Weber Grill/smoker. Super simple but requires some technique. It's a great lil tailgater too. A pallet smoker is on my list for sometime in the future.
this was very well made, as usual with netshaq videos! i appreciated the honesty when discussing the price points, really shows that he really want to help people to make decisions.
isnt that "high end cast iron pan" you showed one you dragged before for having '8 spout technology' and 'a hard to clean handle' in your how to love cast iron video
Killer video! This should be the gold standard for equipment reviews. You take into consideration all aspects and are honest and upfront that everyone has different needs and preferences, and one thing isnt simply the best. And you took the time to do a long term review. That is invaluable because using a kitchen tool for a week wont tell you or us the audience if its durable enough to even last a month. Thank you for the time and effort. I will definitely be referencing this when I decide to get into smoking more.

Here are a couple of tips that make assembly slightly easier ru-vid.comUgkxCx5fHawkK9OoV-ojFrY8JLnZrFwAmvUt . 1) One person can assemble, but if you have a buddy to help, it will make it go faster - especially steps 1-3 and 8 (the legs aren't heavy but can be difficult to hold while screwing things in). Step 8, 1st part will take some time unless you have two more hands OR are really lucky. 2) Use a socket wrench! 3) Step 7, 3rd part - the flame carry over tube has an open side, MAKE SURE THE OPEN SIDE IS FACING THE FRONT. If it's facing the back, the tube won't work. 4) Step 10, 3rd part - if you don't have small hands (I don't, they're gigantic) getting the nut on is really difficult (but not impossible). It took me about 4 hours to assemble, but I took a "union break" every 60-90 minutes and ate a quick lunch. Also, I'm really OCD so I took my time, looked at the instructions carefully, and cleaned up as I went.
Another couple things to consider, like I had to recently, regarding practicality: - How reliable/available is your power? These require a power source, so do you have an outdoor outlet near by or will you need to run an extension cable? Does your power have a tendency to go out during storms? The oven/stove might not be working, but neither is your grill. - What's your area set up like? Will it allow for enough airflow to keep smoke from lingering/building up? Are you in a townhouse where the smoke will waft into your neighbors area to an offensive level?
The classic answer is an AR but since there's 30-50 of them charging around in the yard, just a single AR wouldn't cut it. Get yourself a surplus machine gun and a few belts of ammo and you'll be good.
Here in Texas, feral hog control can and does escalate to no-shit shooting at them with machine guns from helicopters. I know this sounds like a shitpost but I swear to God this is 100% true. "30-50 feral hogs" is an inherently hilarious phrase but they're no joke.
Get your kids some AR's of their own to help their pop's commit war crimes on those fuckers. Hogs kill kids and occasionally adults all the time, they are no joke. Stay strapped or get clapped.
This resonated with me so much lol. Deciding on a pellet smoker was a struggle - way too many different options and features. I actually ended up with a camp chef woodwind, just because of the easy ash cleanup and the sidekick
I appreciate how thoughtful you were in putting this together. You made an effort to highlight what factors are actually important in choosing a grill (or whether you should even get one), instead of bombarding viewers with trivial stats that you'd see in Amazon comparison tables. Those tables aren't useless, but most people who are new to smokers don't even know what to look out for. I hope this video does really well.
thank you for not being another in the growing line of alton brown knockoffs on youtube...several well-known food dudes on youtube have ripped off his intonation and cadence as if that's the only way you can speak about cooking if you're going to be scienc-y about it and i can't stand listening to them
After extensive research in early 2021, I purchased the full stainless Maverick 850 from Pitts and Spitts last summer, it is an incredible beast and built unlike any other, especially in the full stainless. P&S, MAK, Memphis and Yoder amongst the best imo
If I ever got a pellet grill that was NOT an "RT-590" my grillin' coworker would murder me. I mean, the name doesn't roll off the tongue... yet I know it. That should say something about how often he praises it.
I spend way too much time on RU-vid and this video can't be considered wasting time... I am probably 3 years away from buying a pellet grill because life but I'm going to remember this. Best comparison video I have ever seen
One thing to note, pellet smokers( at least traegers) are very easy to fix, it might be worth checking the marketplace for a broken ones if you’re handy! ( 50$ to repair dumpster traeger owner)
I would complain about the Carhartt aglets bumping into the lavalier mic, but I imagine discovering that during the edit was way more frustrating for you than it is for me
I've been watching for a while now, and every single video is a banger. Short, chock full of information, and very well spoken! Very excited for 500k, keep it up Shaq.
I've thought about getting one, I currently have a Weber Genesis gas grill and a Weber Performer charcoal. I can't justify a third grill since I can do simple smoking on my charcoal grill ( I added a gasket to the lid so it seals real good )
you going full ragusea? balls deep in video production but basically any video is an ad? im kidding... unless? Eh im sour but glad you made it. Yes i visited a whopping two times your site but i dont really see the point of going there, it is just an extra nuisance for no potential benefit as a lazy user
Always top notch content! Fast, funny, and thorough! I totally hate getting into "gearhead" kinda discussions/debates and your framing of the this video set some great ground rules! Would recommend
As a previous Traeger+ user, switching to Asmoke has been an absolute game changer for me. The level of temperature control Asmoke offers is unparalleled. The FlameTech patent with dual sensors and a new PID algorithm means I can maintain temperature within 5°F, giving me precision like never before. Plus, the pellets come in a variety of flavors, which has really upped my grilling game by adding a distinctive smoky taste to my food. But what truly stands out is the convenience of Asmoke. It's lighter, smaller, and portable, making it perfect for all my outings. I've taken it camping, tailgating, and even on road trips! The battery-powered feature with up to 10 hours runtime is a lifesaver, enabling me to grill anywhere, anytime. Can't forget about the app, which allows me to remotely adjust temperature and monitor food. Highly recommend Asmoke to all grill enthusiasts! #Asmoke
HAHAHA BEST PELLET SMOKER GRILL VIDEO EVER!!!!! Hate when i click on a video and their smoker is shiny AF, not even used and they review it..... This felt real and honest. The world need more ppl like u man, keep up the good work
As a former Qstoves+ user, I recently made the switch to Asmoke and it has been a game-changer. The precise temperature control of Asmoke, thanks to its FlameTech patent and dual sensors, offers a cooking experience that Qstoves+ simply couldn't match. The convenience of being able to monitor and adjust the temperature remotely through the app is a huge advantage, especially during social gatherings. The variety of flavors offered by the wood pellets is a delightful addition to the overall grilling experience. What's more, it's lighter and smaller than Qstoves+, making it easier to carry around for camping or tailgating. The battery power option is a huge plus, offering up to 10 hours of runtime. It's not just a grill, it's a revolution in outdoor cooking. #Asmoke.
There's a crackling noise in your microphone that's really pissing me off.... No offense, great video, but aaargh! Listen back to your vids with a pair of studio heaphones before publishing, sound can come out very differently depending on the listener's device/gear.
Went with the Masterbuilt Gravity Series myself. Way better flavor, wifi set it and forget it functionality, and it can rip up to 700° for, well, some reason.
My only addition is don’t buy Chinese $150 smokers that looks like they are made of more plastic than metal. Turns out they are great at catching back yards on fire 😂
Another great video man, but I have a question completely unrelated to the video itself. You got an ID on that jacket? It's cool as fuck and I can't find anything like it online
