I had an Iceco VL65 that was a fantastic fridge. Great compressor, solid warranty, relatively quiet. HOWEVER, where the Dometic I upgraded to makes its mark is in power consumption. The Iceco just chewed through power on my Jackery and even managed to drain my Suburban battery running off 12V hot power in just one night. Something worth factoring in. A dead battery in the backcountry is never a fun time, even with a jump pack.
It is a nice looking unit but it is a little pricey. I have a velvor 42 qt. unit that cost me abot half and after a year it is still going strong. It keeps ice cream hard as a rock.
I used my buddys iceco before buying mine and I can say that for over another hundred dollars cheaper you should purchase the setpower version of this fridge. It’s just as well built and works very well. It’s identical to this iceco
What fridge are you talking about, their model that looks kind of like this, but is only single zone, bigger, heavier, consumes more power, has a shorter warranty, and uses more plastic? Apples and oranges - hardly identical.
Does it transfer heat from the outside into the inner due to outside being aluminum? Lets say its sorta in the sunlight in transport? Curious it retaining the coolness
Freaking amazing how efficient a DC compressor works with a DC power supply. My Costco priced Igloo ICF 80DZ consumes around 700 Wh/Day… that’s 14 days on a 10 kWh battery or forever with 1 hour of EcoFlow alternator charging daily.
Question: Casey when you're on the road how do you power the Iceco cooler. Are you using the supplied DC 12-volt cigarette lighter adapter directly into the vehicle or do you run it into your Ecoflow Delta 2 max. Or are you running it using the AC adapter plugged into the Delta 2 max.
Something else. I have a 12v converter that puts out 30amps DC. I plug that into the AC on the Delta 2. Then it's going to run to a 12v fuse block in the bed of the truck. From there I can wire the fridge directly to the fuse block. The converter isn't as efficient running the inverter but it gets me more DC amps into the bed of the truck for lighting as well.
nice table top review. but what i want to see is a real world use. take it out on 100 degree day and see if it can keep the drinks/food cold. like the weather is for most of the country right now.
I have the VL45 model and I've run it off of a 158wh battery with 100 watt solar panel for a week in 95F temps and it was fine. Stayed right around 35F the whole time.
I really like my VL45, 45L volume and half the energy consumption and has 2 baskets. It does weight about 18 more lbs and is only single zone. Paid slightly less than the APL35 too. A lot of options out there. but I think you can't go wrong with any of the ICECO 12v fridges.
That looks awesome! I had a larger dual zone iceco and it was great. Fit perfectly in a rear section of a 4dr f150. This looks like it would fit in my rear extended cab. 😛 We always used the dual zone to freeze ice packs to keep between drives and other cooler cold.
My $15 garage sale igloo ice chest works fine, ice lasts 5 days, I never camp longer than that. I really thought about one of these then realized I don't need one. Maybe if I was going out for two weeks but then it won't hold enough food so I have to go to the store anyway so I might as well get ice while I'm there and I don't need a battery or solar to run the ice chest.
While I agree it’s unnecessary if you can deal with water getting into your food which is my biggest reason for getting a fridge my self. I rather spend time having fun and not have to loose time searching for ice. And while you do that I’ll enjoy a cold beer and the occasional ice cream.
@@abeld.4008 that's why Tupperware was invented and there is nothing like reaching into real ice for that first camping beer. Like I said, the longest I ever camp is 5 days so there is no search for ice, I also don't have to search for cold water because I freeze a couple 2 liter bottles and drink it as it melts while keeping everything cold in the ice chest at the same time and no batteries to worry about. If I want a fridge I'll use the motorhome.
Nice update! Are you interested in reviewing our 6-in-1 drinking water tester? It can test bacteria, virus, microplastic, heavy metal, and weed kiiler., etc! We're sure that you'll love it.
Very good fridge but you give a lot of space away if you don't need dual zones like me. So, hopefully they are gona do a single zone in the near future.
While ICECO is top of the line and has a premium compressor, I still prefer my cheap Bodega. Why? My Bodega has removable baskets to lighten the load with two or three trips instead of getting a hernia. If you have a flat path you can use the pull-out handle and roll on wheels. The Bodego opens with a single pull handle and when you open the lid LED lights come on. The lid can also be oriented to open on the opposite side. Oh, it also has a built-in pull-out battery pack. Lastly I'm not worried about scuffing up the blue dimpled plastic housing on the Bodega. The shiny smooth aluminum finish on the ICECO would probably show ever little dent and scratch.
As I know ICECO's jppro series also comes with wheels, baskets and led lights, and with magnetic power bank can also be used as an alternative "built-in battery" fridge. Also Secop compressors do a really good job of silence and power saving.
I just bought a iceco VL45 proS and I’m very impressed with it, I’ve used a cooler since forever but this is game changer. One feature I really like is how I can open the lid from both sides or take it off completely. I was originally going to buy the ARB fridge but it’s like 2k cad. After doing some research I found iceco, couple selling points was the reviews, warranty, compressor, and price compared to the ARB unit. Enjoy your new fridge good sir.
Not surprised to hear that. I have a 100 Ah portable battery.. seems like I can get maybe 2.5 days at the most with a 50q ARB fridge. It seems like the batteries in the ecoflow are too small.
Why have setting of -20 if max cooking is -4??? Not negative person just seems like telling thing. Don’t need you to tell me you can you can achieve x but show or display wow factor that’s not achievable. Just saying
I made it about two minutes into your video and had to quit. Too much pounding, thumping background "music" noise. Most youtubers have figured out that background music noise is a losing proposition. Way too distracting. Thumbs down.
Great product review Casey very informative! I just made my buying decision today. Don’t pay attention to @crybabymarketing or the other 3 weirdos Thanks for the video!
I wouldn't get a cooler with integrated power storage. If I were to get a powered cooler I would get one that runs off of external power only, for the reason of versatility (having shore power, or car power etc) and also external battery bank can be replaced independently of cooler. Also would not get powered cooler unless your use case is falling out of a maximized non- powered cooler, getting one with better thermal efficiency, precooling the cooler the night before you leave, and freezing all possible food items, and refrigerating the rest ensures that cooler space will be going towards the frozen solid food items rather than packing cooling ice. All these tips together will ensure a cooler that can easily sustain safe temps for a week.
I would make sure I had some kind of engineering background before I reviewed products on RU-vid and made a fool out of myself. Let's start at the beginning where the guy can't tell the difference between stainless steel and aluminum. Enough said
I'd be happy to learn if you want to point out what you noticed is SS vs Aluminum in the video. Thanks! The great thing about youtube is anyone can make a video and post it :)
