I agree with everything, I would also add , as an experienced homeowner, pay a little bit more for full height cabinets that are flushed with the ceiling ,wherever possible. Nothing looks good on top of them anyway, and cleaning greasy dust is a huge pain. Not to mention an injury hazard if you have to climb cabinets and ladders.

TrueNorth747 You are right about those full height cupboards. I am redoing my kitchen and would love to get them. But my kitchen has a bulkhead all the way around that houses water lines and a drain pipe from an upstairs bathroom. It would represent a major job rerouting this. It all comes around and goes down to the basement in the wall on the one side of the kitchen. I thought of eliminating that wall and taking that other room to expand the kitchen. But that wall has the water lines, drain, some electrical, the thermostat and the cold air return that also goes upstairs. It all spells nightmare to me. So i'm stuck with the regular sized cupboards.

You should have something on the top of the cabinets. I haven't seen a square house yet. The trim at the top is to hid gaps at the top of the cabinets.

@OvisAriesFarm
@OvisAriesFarm 4 года назад
I bought $10,000 new “top of the line” kitchen cabinets from cabinets.com based on this review, and was absolutely THUNDERSTRUCK when they arrived. They were extremely poorly packed so many of the corners were smashed in; the boxes were STAPLED TO THE CABINETS; and I found exactly ONE SINGLE nail in the ENTIRE KITCHEN collection. Everything else was put together with STAPLES (and not big ones either - little, dinky staples). I ordered all their top of the line products, including all hardware. Maybe half of the soft-close hardware actually worked, the rail brackets and other essential hardware were made of PLASTIC instead of metal, none of the panels or doors were square, and when my builder screwed them into the wall, the rest of the cabinet pulled away. There was no evidence of glue along any join, and almost all the cabinets just popped apart. Furthermore, all the shelves were shipped INSTALLED with no protection and therefore banged about, which is terrible practice, and the shelves were a very flimsy ¼” plywood which bowed under the slightest weight. My builder says in his 30 years in the trade he has NEVER seen such a disgraceful and shoddy disaster (he actually said “sh** show”). We’ve been trying to call them for two days and nobody will return our calls. I have no idea what I’m going to do now, because I don’t have time to order from another manufacturer before my builder has to move on to another job. I’m so depressed over this I don’t even know where to begin. Be warned!! Cabinets.com is NOT a professional quality cabinet supplier and you will NOT get what you paid for!

I know you posted this over four years ago, but I hope you see this. I was wondering if your problems were resolved and if so how. I just ordered over 10K worth of their "top of the line" cabinets may 2024 and now I'm really scared based on your post. I really hope things have improved in the last four years 😞
@OvisAriesFarm
@OvisAriesFarm Месяц назад
@@micaonyx5301 it’s too late for me, but I can only hope you have better results than I did. I didn’t have any choice but to go ahead with my install, for all the reasons I stated. It was the Covid years, and I paid a fortune for crappy workmanship and product. I never did hear back from them nor did I receive any compensation from them. I wish you the very best, but I will NEVER order from them again!

I'm not sure what you do for a living (aside from making these excellent videos) but you should have a classroom. Having skill or knowledge is one thing but the ability to teach is one of the rarest. I am a professional carpenter but I wish I had a fraction of your ability to spell things out. There would fewer mistakes, less wasted time and a lot less frustration if we could spell things out to the helpers or each other on a job site like you can. Keep it up!

I built 27 RTA unfinished Conestoga Wood cabinets myself this year. Had fun staining and top coating them myself and for the uppers, took them out in my backyard and used a Graco sprayer to paint them antique white :) Lots of work, but also the feeling of accomplishing a large project was rewarding. FWIW I've been refinishing and staining wood for 40 years, but only have used a paint sprayer for the recent 4 years
