I feel like people are not understanding who this car is for to begin with. This isn't for people who are cross shopping 4 cylinder and 8 cylinder vehicles nor is it for people who are cross shopping 40k Mustangs well equipped with 40k+ BMW's. It's for people who want a cool looking car that can overtake a flow driver or accelerate easily whenever they want, but doesn't want to spend 5 trillion dollars a week at the gas station. A mustang is a mustang is a mustang. It goes fast and looks cool doing it.
Dude u nailed it. I have a 21 Eco Stang Premium n I feel cool every time I get in it. The eco handles better than the GT cuz its got less weight up front. Turn in is superior.
The Mustang GT sounds impressive. However I bought the 2020 EcoBoost since I don't race. I guess many people are obsessed with the sound. It doesn't make any sense for me to spend an extra $10,000 - $15,000 just to enjoy a sound. I just like the looks of the Mustang.
Same here…got the 2020 standard ecoboost and love it. Great acceleration, great mileage, and I’m happy with my purchase. I couldn’t see myself spending the extra money just for a louder exhaust.
I have the normal 2.3 turbo mustang with the premium package and I think it's a great daily. I get the V8 is a beast and sounds so good, but it also less practical and more expensive. The 4 cylinder and still fast, better mileage/range, and the turbo is still pretty cool.
Man, I'm about to date myself. I bought a 225hp Mustang GT after Desert Storm and thought I was The S***!!! Fast forward to 2020 and there's a 4cyl that's putting out over 300hp. This makes sense on paper, you get a manual and RWD. Its probably a fun track car
I really don't understand these youtubers thinking it is all about the sound and max Horsepower difference between the 4 cylinder HPP and 8 cylinder GT. The real difference with the HPP is how much horsepower is available at all speeds. Add in the nearly 200 lbs lighter weight and the stock 4 cylinder HPP would destroy an 8 cylinder GT on a road or street course.
GT isn't exactly a rocketship sound is 99% of what makes a performance car great if you want something to sound like a vacuum cleaner you can get those for a lot less cars are so wrongly portrayed by the mainstream. "The lighter nose" isn't even a detectable trait
@@dobson777a the PP2 pack GT is actually a track focused car and would destroy any 4 banger mustang. These aren’t the 80’s when muscle cars were floating on the track. It’s 2021…get with the times bro.
As both a cyclist and a Mustang driver I take exception to your "Bikers are going to get someone killed' comment. They have as much right to the road and if you can't overtake safely then wait until you can do so safely. It's the drivers that tend to kill cyclists
Another option is a 2022 base BMW 230i Coupe. It’s selling for $36-$40 base on options. It has sufficient power and looks cool. Beautiful exterior and interior. Handles great. Great gas mileage too. The only problem is no manual option. However it’s a luxury daily priced like an Ecoboost here!
Just got a 2019 ecoboost PP with every option in the Need for Green and it's just so balanced is the way to describe it. There's no place where it lacks or i say "man i wish this car had ____" it just is so great in every way
I just purchased a 2020 Ford Mustang HPP Ecoboost with the 6 speed manual transmission and optional 19 x 9 forged wheels....I paid $28K for it and it is a fun car to drive....this car is a very well balanced car and handles well....being turbo charged, there is a lot of low end torque which makes it a great daily driver....Do I need 480 HP for daily driving ? For what I payed, this is one sweet ride.
Excellent job this car at that extremely discounted price is great. Nobody will be paying 40k at a dealership so I'm glad you took advantage of all the incentives its fun for 28k
@@MeynMotorGroup Thanks for the response......I also have a 2014 GT in the garage which I won't take out in the winter.....I looked at different cars in this price range..VW GTI ....Subaru WRX.....decided on the Mustang EcoBoost HPP.......Have fun!
Well said. I had a 2017 Camaro RS 2.0 and traded after 9 months for a new Camaro SS. Which do I miss more, the 2.0. People rag on you, but until you drive one you'll never understand and I definitely remember pumping 93 octane in the SS twice as often as the 2.0.
@@slash11lipo I've had high horsepower cars which were so fast I'd have to drive white knuckled and worry if I was going to lose control .......I have much more fun in the HPP Ecoboost ....I enjoy any kind of automobile and respect what other people may drive.......you get it.
Dude love the exterior & interior. I had a 1996 GT 5 speed manual, bought it new in 1996. Black on black w 18 rims. It had a measly 205 hp ! Thinking back it sounded awesome but definitely underpowered. Great review
people comparing 310/350 to 330/350 are missing the point. Reggie Ecoboost falls flat af after 4500 rpm, so, 2500-4500 is good but after that sucks. In the RS engine it is pulling HARD from 2500-6500, a huge difference in the fun-to-drive factor. And it HANDLES so much better than a GT. So, it's a fabulous car for country driving on winding roads.
You keep referring to the magnetoride addition as "crap". It makes this car. It is a full 200 lbs lighter than the GT and all of it off the front axel. This car would probably beat a GT on an autocross course. It is an excellent road car and probably the mustang I would buy.
Magneride? I said it was amazing...and 200 lbs? When you have a passenger in whatever car you drive do you notice the difference? Then why would you sacrifice one of the only great things that ford has ever produced, that Coyote 5.0 V8, for this 4 cylinder that makes you wish you never had ears?
It's the location of the weight that makes the difference. The HPP is lighter directly over the front axle bc the lighter engine which gives it much better turn in response. When you have a passenger they are much closer to the center of mass so it will have minimal effect on the handling. And objectively speaking, I actually really like the sound of the HPP. Just don't expect it to sound like a V8 and you're good. I own one of these cars that I use for a daily.
I bought a 2021 Mustang EcoBoost HPP 6 speed manual with the performance package and handling package. I drove both the Camaro and the Mustang before making the choice, and to be honest, I'm not a Ford guy. If anything I would favor Chevy. But after driving both, the Mustang handled better, felt better, had far better visibility, better options and overall just felt like a better deal than the Camaro. I wanted a track toy, and the HPP is the only one that came with a larger radiator, larger oil cool, larger intercooler, transmission cooler and rear diff cooler. Basically the Camaro might be able to go around the track as fast... 3 times. Then it fades. The Mustang HPP can do it all day long.
I drove an Merkur XR4ti in the 80s with a 5 speed and the 2.3 Turbo engine. It was fast and fun. I remember the Ford Thunderbird Turbo Coupe from the 80s. This has even more power. I would get one.
Can't agree at all with regard to handling. It's not going to thread needles, but running it wide open and carving curves are firmly within its wheelhouse and what it's made to do.
The capability is there, the communication isn't that's what I was trying to convey. Their Shelby products however, they nailed those one of the best products to come out of America.
I have a 2017 High Performance Ecoboost with the premium package interior and I like it so far. I will get another V8 for sure. But it’s a fun daily that’s got some pep when you need it and of course has the awesome Mustang look. The only thing that holds this car back is the mustang badge. You put a Japanese badge on it and no one would have a problem with its sound and performance.
This car does look great and the power this engine produces is not bad at all especially seeing how it is lighter than the V8 Mustang. Where the V8 is more of a muscle car, this is more of a sports car. As mentioned in the video there are some people who want the improved fuel economy this has over the V8. The only issue I have with this Ecoboost HP is the reliability. This 4 cylinder is doing a lot and the Mustang chassis is no Ford Focus. If Ford actually made improvements to the engine and made it more reliable since the days of the Focus RS I would actually consider this car. Sadly, reliability is not easy to gauge on a new chassis and engine combo like this. Great review!
I still have my 2015 GT PP1. You are absolutely right about the disconnected feeling stock. 90% is bushings. I modified the suspension with Steeda/BMR/Gt350r parts plus much lighter wheels and it's really good, but that cost 10k additional for what should be from factory. Now u feel the back end and front, the steering is hyper responsive, the nose feels much lighter and weirdly ride is better, BUT, road feel does not come through steering, which is an issue w all cars with electric steering outside of Porsche. Ultimately, it's a GT car (lots of luggage space, fun and fast on freeway) that can be taken for occasional track day, autocross or mountains.
Ahh thank you so much for stopping by and sharing that Information great to know. Glad you got the car feeling a lot more connected with the upgrades. PP1 is also the perfect model to get. Yea it's a lot of money and probably should come from the factory feeling better than it does but I guess half the fun is modifying these things to be unique and to your liking. This car is a phenomenal cruiser and by far has the most charismatic V8 engine to listen to so I'm glad you got the handling sorted as well. Thanks again and for sharing that valuable info
It’s about styling and pricing. The GT with the performance options costs about $50k+. This car costs about $$10k less. It’s cheaper on gas and looks cool. However I think for an added $10k a GT is better! The GT looks cooler and sounds way better plus it’s way more powerful and you can feel the thrust with excellent handling too. I it’s just cooler to have the GT if you have the extra $10k and getting more gas more frequently is not a big deal. You’re probably better off getting the base Ecoboost too! Comfort and fuel economy Are the really only points for Ecoboost aside from its look!
You’ll really save more with a base Ecoboost not this one. The added options on this model don’t make it that much better to justify added cost. I’d go with a GR86 with a manual instead of a base Ecoboost, unless you want a daily that’s cool and comfortable at a nice price… then get a base Ecoboost.
i had a 2015 v8 5.0. it's cheap horse power and it's fun. this is a good starter for someone young. I will say that the 2015 clutch wasn't very good. it had like a "clunk" to it. i'd love to buy one again but at $42k for a gt, i wonder if a 4 door stinger is better for a family....
Yes V8 is the way to go with these cars and where it really shines. I did hear about the clunks in older S550s I think they still have shifter fork issues so you have to be a little more gentle with the mustang shifters I've heard. Even in this video I heard mechanical scrapping sounds going into 2nd and 3rd kind of aggressively. Yea this is def not a family car lol an AWD Stinger would make for a superior daily
Ha, see my comment above. I've had mine since 2015, but can't get rid of it. It's paid for and ridiculously fun and a new car note in this economy seems crazy. It's been bulletproof, that Coyote smoothness and sound and I can beat on it knowing parts are cheap vs a garage queen. I have a toddler and he just turned 3 so can get in the car seat himself now.. Before it was a PITA. Man, I've tried to give Sedans a try as the 4 door is more family friendly. G70 v6 w dynamic pack was a total disappointment. Alfa Romeo Guilia Quad was super Agile and had suspension magic going on but clinical. If I replace the Stang I'll try out the CT5/4 V BlackWings or Bronco (can enjoy latter w kid more often as we can do activities like hiking etc).
Yes Ford dealers will discount their cars heavily if you go in on the right times. All I can go by is the MSRP prices but of course with discounts like that, its a no brainer enjoy
I guess this guy didn't do his research because the 6 speed might be fun and the way to go for someone. But he said its nothing wrong with it. But actually its faulty. I have seen plenty of vids and people complain about it the 6 speed. I love mustangs and when I get mine I'm going with the 10 speed. If nothing was wrong with the 6 speed then yes I would go with it. But I have done my research and not talking bad about mustangs just the 6 speed. Its ford cutting cost and I understand that but when you only put 6k on youre brand new car and have to put it in the shop to get a Transmission fixed because they cut cost then you would have wished you went with the 10 speed. And not talking trash guys the car and really nice but untill ford fixes the problem I would stay away from the 6 speed.
Isn't it some fork in the transmission that needs to be replaced? When I said there's nothing wrong with it I meant performance wise it felt good to drive...the car is new with a warranty have Ford fix it
I still haven't had a chance to even ride in a Mustang my entire life. Only american muscle car I've ever experienced was a 5.2L Hemi Challenger. And only passenger seat ):
www.caranddriver.com/reviews/amp29145957/2020-ford-mustang-ecoboost-high-performance-drive/ Ok since you people don’t like to hear it from me, hear’s a source you people like to worship, Car and Driver. Scroll to the Ghost of Focus RS Past paragraph and read the last sentence. Idk wtf is wrong with you people these are easy things to look up and figure out. The facts are the facts and little 4 cylinder doesn’t come with Rev Match. Car and Driver says it themselves
Hey about the steering, in normal mode it is a little loose and boaty feeling, but have you put the steering into sport mode? It makes it a lot more responsive.
That's the MSRP price I'm sure a Ford dealership can offer plenty of rebates but regardless, the regular ecoboost is the one to go for if you want the 4 cylinder
I doubt anyone would pay more than 35k at a dealer. But I’d still rather have a base 5.0 at that point. I’ve seen new base model 5.0s dip into the high 20’s occasionally at my local Ford dealer.
Yes you're right about that but gotta be careful, these domestics have a stupid habit of advertising a bunch of incentives you won't qualify for and most likely the prices listed will require a trade. But normal discounts should definitely be possible
@@BeesonsCars yeah my eco boost was 33K, 36K with tax, title, & license and I got mine with the 10 speed, CarPlay, and the black accent package. Luv this car to death, easily the best car I’ve owned so far.
I live in the mountains and have an ecoboost. I'm not sure if it is the drivers or what, but whenever I face a V8 mustang going down the mountain roads I keep up with them just fine. I can see how on a straight away it would be wayyy different, but I guess I got lucky with my road conditions. Oh, and if anyone gets the ecoboost, you definitely have to upgrade your exhaust, it sounds like crap stock.
I don't know what your complaining is all about.!!!!! I own a 2917 Mustaang ecoboost. And it has 89 thousand miles . No paddling or other noises. And it's fast .no problem s . It's a great car ... So stop your pitching...
I live in the Los Angeles area and I still prefer to drive manuals. I enjoy having complete control of what my car does and it puts a smile on my face. For me the biggest issue of being in a high traffic area is not being able to enjoy the performance of my Mustang GT and still having to spend more on gas without getting to enjoy it often enough.
I used to live in SoCal, and own a 2018 ecoboost base model, 6-speed manual with the wheel and stripe package and 101A package. I’ve driven both the Camaro and the Challenger, and will tell you the Mustang is the happy medium IMHO. My car has the COBB stage 1 tune, with COBB CAI, and custom 2.5” cat back exhaust. Plenty of torque and pep, and still average 28 mpg over the life of the car (granted, it’s a DD mostly highway). It’s a lot of fun to drive on twisty roads, and the ride is nice.
I’d feel a lot better about the 2.3L if I could count 4 doors. Come on Ford, make a 4 door fastback/hatch mustang. I want an American Audi S5/S7 (or a murican Kia Stinger). My SHO won’t last forever.
Hpp drives the cost of the ecoboost too high up. I think the ecoboost is a bargain for 28-30k there’s not a cheaper faster new car. For that price. Now 40k Ecoboosts just get a gt in my opinion it defeats the purpose of why it’s even a choice to begin with but to each their own. Some people spend gt money on an ecoboost for reasons I’ll never understand if I had the money I’d be in a v8 no doubt lol
Ecoboost Mustang is one of the last affordable RWD turbo manual coupe options available in the US. I recently drove one and the handling is the only turn off.
15:22 IMHO cause it’s an American made sports car. Not to generalize but most American built vehicles have really horrible quality - regardless of the brand (American and non-American that is manufactured here in the US), if it’s a premium, luxury or not and the like) unlike their peers in the same price range that were built with quality in mind not just to sell a ton, you know what I mean. Still totally agree with most of your points, like your honesty man, keep it up! 👍
Don’t know why you hate this car so much. I own one fully loaded with automatic transmission., which by the way is faster than the manual transmission (based on Ford disclosure). Second, this is a great handling car, that is its forte. I had Dodge Challengers and Chargers in the past, and this car is in a different galaxy compare with those, it makes Dodge muscle cars feel like pick up trucks in terms of handling. The mangaride dumpers are superb. I had two people that built and drive sport cars in tracks, and after they drove my car they said they wanted to buy one for themselves. Other thing you get wrong is the gas mileage. Is not as good as you say. 17 mpg in city, and 21 in freeway being gentle with it. This is an amazing high performance car, as it’s badge says, not a wimpy 4 banger as you portray it...
If your reason for preferring an auto is because it's "faster" than you're better off with a Tesla since you miss the point of driving pleasure. Not sure who your expert friends are but at least you like your car and THAT'S ALL THAT MATTERS.
@@MeynMotorGroup don't understand the relationship between and automatic transmission, and a electric car. But the point is, your review doesn't make justice to the strongest asset of this car, which is its handling capability. I watch other reviews of this car. All of them agree, the handling is amazing
Go and drive a Camaro SS and then drive a GT and you'll quickly notice how superior the Camaro handles. The same goes for the 2.0 Camaro RS compared to the Ecoboost.
Camaro stock and out of the box is def a far superior car in my opinion but the Ford nuts will go insane for saying that. The Ford is a great car especially the GT 5.0l V8 but needs mods unfortunately like bushings, suspension, tires etc to bring it up to Camaro levels.
I mean if that's the only metric of what makes a car good then a base model Tesla would annihilate both cars and not just by .1 of a second. This drag racing spec sheet culture needs to end asap
