Owning a first generation product might be fun and glamorous for about a week after which most products would show some teething issues. The Triumph Speed 400 is a brand new motorcycle from Bajaj and Triumph for India and the world. Which there have done alot of testing, there will be some issues here and there that might not making your ownership experience that great over the long term. Bajaj will fix all the issues and the product will meet all quality standards in time for sure. It's the basic product development process and there's nothing wrong with it. RS200 & Duke 390 has issues too. Apple had issues too.
I haven't tested the motorcycle out myself and this video is based on videos I've seen and historical new motorcycle release data.

Completely agreed. Like he said. The first batch has a bad defective fuel pump and fuel indicator issues. It’s better to wait for 1 or 1.5 years before making the buy.

I was waiting for this video from someone. And finally you made it. I am one of first 10k customers. I'm not sure if it's possible for me to hold the booking until next Feb or March and buy later batches. But thanks for the video 😊

Most welcome! I think by the time the scrambler is launched the speed 400 would be stable. That's in October - November. Additionally the service network will start getting familiar with the bike and the small issues.

While that does happen over time! I don't expect the price to go up until February next year. It's a good amount of time to understand the issues with the bike and service centers to know the solution.

the duke 390 still gets very hot. The RC is slightly better but it still runs hot with gap in the low down power.

Your opinion on booking scrambler 400? In January and take delivery around april 1st week

January makes sense! Reviews will be out and we'll know what the bike is all about. However check when the deliveries start. Accordingly the more bikes on the road the more we'll know how it's behaving. One thing is for sure by January there will be many speed 400s. So the engine will be in a good place. Remaining cycle parts will be the only remaining question.

What will be the guarantee that third and fourth batch will be good ..🙂 Though Bajaj is manufacturing these bikes, Triumph is still controlling the quality checks and Triumph will try there best to maintain there brand value. Also, have seen many vehicles in market, whose product quality gets depreciate as they become famous to save some production cost. So, buying 1st batch is like a gamble.. if lucky you get the best product else..🙂

It's not about a guarantee. It's logical that brand new products have teething issues. It takes time to identify them and fix them. Triumphs quality control will help but our Indian roads have many surprises. Example the first generation Royal Enfield Himalayans had a problem with the chassis, many were broken in two parts. This was identified after 6 months. The first Triumph Speed 400 will have many more issues compared to the one made after 6 months. Bajaj and Triumph will try to keep the issues to the lower side, but it's still advisable to wait. You won't lose much by waiting.

If you wait for 6 months plus after the first delivery, there's a good change your bike came off the production line later and has some bug fixes.

I don't think so! Triumph came in to target the RE. So the 400 is the best. There might be different form factors.

@@butimjeremy I was riding around 60-80 on high revs mostly, not much traffic riding for 10 mins then we had to stop completely because of traffic and there was definitely heat. I can't talk about vibrations but I was enjoying to much I literally forgot to nitpick any points I had previously jotted down to look out for.

Teething problems are a part and parcel of new products. The odds of quality issues are higher in the first few batches compared to a batch that will come a year later. If you think otherwise you can put your money down on the motorcycle. This is my opinion based many new motorcycles that have come before. The title is not misleading. Read the entire title.

Wait till more bikes are on the road and at least 2 service cycles are done. Triumph claims a very high service interval, so we need to see how that works in India.

I'd say wait! The scrambler 400 is 95% the same bike...some differences in rake angle and height. If you want it for hard-core off road! Wait for the reviews and opinions to be out.

This and dominar have a really different charector, dude jist don't blabber whatever comes to your mind, i have a 390 and dominar is very similar to that not this, just because all of them are similar capacity

When I said they're similar, I mean they're in the same capacity. The feel of each motorcycle will obviously be different. The Dominar is big and heavy with 40BHP, it's going to be lazy but planted. The Duke 390 with a little more power and less weight will be very nimble. Don't come at me without understanding what I'm saying. Thanks for the comment 👍
