Thanks for the review. You might want to do some break testing or cut and etch on the mig welder's penetration. Overall, I appreciated the fact that you didn't bore us with the clean up after each weld. Good job!

"Hobby Machine" say loads.. :-) Well, erm, I use mine all day every day 7 days a week to earn a living as welder. Do I like it? No, I love it. :-) I used have to drag/wheel/lug big lumps of machines around the workshops - now I can chuck this down anywhere with one hand tied behind my back.

About to try welding for the first time and bought the same machine so thanks for this excellent setup vid! Very helpful. Don't laugh, but curious if that was plumbers tape you wrapped with and why? Thanks!
@DIYHomesteadProjectsDIYHP10
@DIYHomesteadProjectsDIYHP10 8 месяцев назад
You're welcome! It was Teflon tape so the weld spatter doesn't mess up the threads. I find it much easier to see my weld puddle without the gas cup so I take it off. They do make special flux core tips to replace the gas tip but I don't have one. I find it much easier to just use Teflon tape instead. The gas cup is not needed with flux core wire because you are not using any shielding gas. The flux core wire makes it's own shielding gas. I wish you the best with your welding adventures and thanks for stopping by.

I'm buying myself one of these for xmas 2023 Does this unit show any preference for 030 or 035 ? Mostly I'll be doing ⅛ to ³/16 but some sheet metal & tubing. Thanks for posting this 👍👍

Lol I'm not for sure brother but I think You're set a little bit Hi. You just almost Welded your test piece to the table lol. I also think if your settings are a little bit high that might cause the burn through you see at the end of your test pieces. But I'm just a novice myself so I couldn't say for sure. Thanks for the review though.

Can this welder be used to do 3/16" steel and 1/2" rebar? I have small generator.
@DIYHomesteadProjectsDIYHP10
I've welded some 1/2" rebar with mine and it did great. I suppose it depends on your welding skills and the use of what you are welding. Yes it will weld 1/2" rebar to 3/16" steel plate. I have not used mine with a generator so I don't know how it does with that. I wish you the best with your project!

For a butt joint with 3/16 flat bar (while using flux core setting), what setting would you recommend for this welder? I did not see anything in your video as thick as 3/16, ty!
@DIYHomesteadProjectsDIYHP10
@DIYHomesteadProjectsDIYHP10 5 месяцев назад
I would recommend using the highest settings for 3/16 flat bar and work down from there if it's too hot for that thickness. I'd set the amperage to HIGH and the wire speed to 135/FAST.

Does ur machine displays the voltage mine just has low medium and high..mine keeps stopping if I lower the speed ..yours runs so smooth .I wonder if I got a bad one from AMAZON 😅
@DIYHomesteadProjectsDIYHP10
No, my machine does not display the voltage. I didn't mess with the settings much because it was welding real nice. Did you try the settings I used? It could also be the wire, I was using the YesWelder wire in the video and it seemed to weld real nice IMO.

Can you tell me what is the house amp required for mig flex core using a 135 yes-welder thanks
@DIYHomesteadProjectsDIYHP10
@DIYHomesteadProjectsDIYHP10 4 месяца назад
Most houses have either 15 amp or 20 amp. Either will work but you’ll have a better result with a 20 amp circuit. Less popping of the breaker welding at the higher settings on the machine.

My voltage dial reads between -3.0 and 3.0 where the number is diplayed what does that mean in voltage?
@electricguysvcs
@electricguysvcs 4 месяца назад
Exactly - yes welder is dumber than a bag of a rocks. One other viewer stated setting at 0 is a baseline and the +/- is a fine tune. Supposedly set the machine at 0 then adjust the wire feed accordingly. It could be awesome if the came up to speed with info

@DIYHomesteadProjectsDIYHP10
@DIYHomesteadProjectsDIYHP10 4 месяца назад
The left knob is for voltage and has a V on the panel below the knob. The right knob is for current and controls the wire feed speed. Hope this helps.

Is this the Yeswelder 135 welder? If so, can this welder run off of 15 amp house circuit? Also, wanted to know how you came up with the numbers that you dialed into the welder, before you started welding on the different thickness of metal?
@DIYHomesteadProjectsDIYHP10
@DIYHomesteadProjectsDIYHP10 8 месяцев назад
Yes it is the Yeswelder flux 135. It will run on a 15 amp house circuit but it may trip the breaker running on the mid to high settings. For settings I usually start with a general rule of thumb. One amp per thousandth of metal thickness. Example: 1/8” = .125 thousandths = 125 amps then fine tune with the voltage knob if necessary.
@Slim1423
@Slim1423 8 месяцев назад
@DIYHomesteadProjectsDIYHP10 Ok. I understand about the 15 amp circuit. Is there a chart on the welder or in the instructions that come with your welder, that gives you a general idea of how to dial in the settings according to the thickness of the metal?
@DIYHomesteadProjectsDIYHP10
@DIYHomesteadProjectsDIYHP10 8 месяцев назад
I honestly don't remember seeing a reference chart on the machine or in the manual. This machine is so simple and it is synergic so all you really need to do is to set the amps for the thickness you are welding and start welding. Use the Low, Normal, High knob to fine tune if necessary.
@Slim1423
@Slim1423 8 месяцев назад
@DIYHomesteadProjectsDIYHP10 Ok. Thank you for that info. It is a interesting welder, that seems to have pretty good heat to penetrate the metal.

IF you needed just one low cost unit to do a good job on 110V 20A circuit, for light fabrication and repairs, would you personally choose this flux unit or would you opt for the little Yeswelder 165DS stick welder? I'm kindof on the fence and trust your opinion. Thanks for the video!
@DIYHomesteadProjectsDIYHP10
Personally I would go with the FLUX-135 mainly because it is a 3 in 1 machine and the 165DS is only a 2 in 1 machine. If I'm working on a project that can only use 120V I always reach for the flux core machine before I reach for a stick machine. Mainly because I have more experience with flux core than I do with stick. That gives me more confidence with my flux core abilities than I have with my stick abilities.

I'd like to see how it welds with 75/25. Not bad. One question was Teflon to save defuser from splatter?
@DIYHomesteadProjectsDIYHP10
This little welder does not have an internal solenoid or gas connection for 75/25 but I'll bet it would do pretty good as a MIG welder if it were equipped for that. It does not come with the flux tip like other machines I've seen. I think YW should include that in the kit but mine didn't come with one. I just use the teflon tape and it works well but honestly it's probably not even necessary for this machine. Thanks for the comment, I appreciate it!
