I as Malaysian want to thank you very much for coming to my country. Hand shake is actually okay with the non muslim, but for the muslim, you cant hand shake with anyone that is not your same gender or your family. For the acohol you can find it in supermarket such tesco, giant or 7e but remember dont drink it in public. Hugging or kissing is okay if you're married but dont do french kiss, you will get an awkward stare from people surrounding. Most likely everyone in Malaysia can speak english cause it's our second language and we learned it since kids at school. And for pointing finger to show direction, for us it seem quite rude, so instead of pointing finger, we use our thumb(make a fist, most Malaysian do this) or point by using all fingers. If want to see much more culture and ethnics, do come to sabah and sarawak. There's more than 30 ethnics.

10.. yes Muslim cant handshake with opposite gender. It is our religion , Islam. But if you meet Indian or Chinese or other than Muslim they do handshake. 9.. The reason why we cant use shoes everywhere bcs of our cleanliness and also respect 💕 8.. No PDA, kissing, hugging.. bcs the main population here is Muslim, we are taught not to. 7.. I think most Malaysian can speak English because it was a core subect too in our school.😄 6.. Umbrella ? Oh yeah. We are here in Khatulistiwa.. it is like that, can't help with that 😅 5.. Malay is a race, Malaysian is ALL of us. You got it right here 😀 4.. Again, because most of us is Muslim. Alcohol, beer; you will not have it in most place. But if you want it, you can find it at 7Eleven. 3.. Malay eat beef, so actually it is easy for you to find it maybe it was a wrong place. Sorry for that. 2.. It is just a polite way to point. Weve been taught since we are kids 😊 1.. Durian. IT IS A KING OF FRUIT HERE 😍 You will get a cheap durian when it is the season but most place you can eat it at stall but yeah in the hotel or restaurent or shopping market or airport it is prohibited. 💕 Love from Terengganu, Malaysia. 💕

Malay Muslim do not consume pork and alcohol, and Hindu do no consume beef, Hindu love mutton and Chinese love pork and duck roast but Malay do not much consume duck... malay just enjoy telur masin (duck salt egg)...haha🦆 ...some Chinese and Indian are vegetarian... some malay also eat vegetarian food if they go out with vege friends.. Anyway... most of us really enjoy Chicken!🐓🐣 it suit all races...thats is the reason why KFC is the most enjoyable restaurant for all Malaysian... Mamak Restaurant also suit malay, chinese and indians food code.. thats is the reason Mamak is very popular here... anyway, roti canai and dhal is a kind of light meal that suit for everybody... There’s a trick where you can eat pork and beef. So i’m gonna give you some tips in case you’re visiting Malaysia again in future. So the Malaysia consist of a lot of race and culture, majority will be the Malay, Chinese and Indian. Everyone have things they can consume and can’t consume. For the Malay, they do not eat pork and no alcohol. For Chinese some of them do not consume cow meat, while for Indian majority of them didn’t eat beef too because Cows are holy for them. So if you’re going to Malay restaurant (u can identify them if you see someone wearing hijab in the restaurant or some of the signage will have arabic words written) - they always have meat which we call as Daging. So if you see on the menu written with Daging word in it, it mean the food have meat in it. For Chinese restaurant, easiest to find ask the local Chinese people where is the nearest hawker, the best place to have Chinese food may also have Malaysian food. Most of the time it’ll look like an open space with a lot of small booth/vendor stall here and there. You may find pork and chicken and alcohol. For the Indian restaurant it might be tricky, coz everyone go to Mamak to have curry but again no pork. There’s only chicken, meat and seafood curry. There’s an Indian restaurant that i know in Penang there wont be any meat nor pork, i’m not sure about the alcohol. For the market wise it seem you went to small wet market. You’ll need to find biggest market. Usually it will split into 2 section wet and dry. The majority will be selling seafood, few poultry and maybe 1-2 butcher (either cow or lamb or both) and there’s pork from another vendor. Like i mentioned just now we consist on Many races and religious and like in your videos Majority are muslim. So muslim do not eat pork that’s why some of the vendor do not sell meat/lamb together with pork (majority of muslim will be Malay but there’s Indian muslim and Chinese muslim as well, hence why i will just call it as Muslim). Hope this will help, come again to Malaysia and stay safe during this Pandemic 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Correction to your comment as well. Muslim is not a race. It is a group of people who subscribe to the religion Islam. I believe you are refering to Malay if you are comparing with other races like Chinese or Indian. because there are such thing a Chinese Muslims, Indian Muslims, American Muslims etc who are not malay by ethnic.

Because most of the Muslims give more birth rate than other races especially Chinese (Indians' birth rate is little better than Chinese, and I don't know about other races). The population of Chinese gone down quite much compared to the time Malaysia gets its independence due to numerous emigration and mass declining birth rate and increasing unmarried rate plus better healthcare policy in Malaysia, so you can see more and more increasing elderly among Chinese population which makes the ratio of the Chinese elderly vs whole Chinese population going higher and higher every year.

1. You can get alcohol just about everywhere but don't go to a restaurant open by Malays as chances are they don't provide alcohols. 2. Pork you can get it at non halal restaurants while beef is quite common, I'm not sure why you find it difficult to get. 3. You just don't shake hands with a religious Muslim man if your opposite sex, but yet again not everyone really follows the rules. Anyhow hope you enjoy your stay here in KL. Indecent behavior restriction is not because of Islamic law, but lies under the 5th pillar of Malaysia (rukun negara) which brings the meaning of being modest and well manners (kesopanan dan kesusilaan). There are a few mistakes you made. 1. Pork and beef are found in abundance in Malaysia. The Malaysian Chinese which constitute 1/4 of the population have pork in their menu everyday, the Chinese markets do sell pork. The Malays love beef, so there're lots of beef in the Malay market but not in Chinese or Indian markets . I think you just went to the wrong markets. 2. Alcohol can be drunk quite readily in Chinese and Indian restaurants in Malaysia. You went to the Malay-owned restaurants. 3. Malaysia's good command of English is due to the English education in Science and Maths subjects unlike Thailand and also due to the broadcast of English movies in its original form and not dubbed like in Thailand. So it is NOT because of British colonial influence but giving more acknowledgment that it is a useful international language. 4. The so-called 'Malaysian's that you met in the video are actually foreigners like the Bengali workers sitting on the bus and the Nepalese guard that you asked directions from. There is a huge foreign worker population (10%) in Malaysia who can speak basic Malay language.

I'm Malaysian and I eat beef at least 4x a week. You can find beef menu in those restaurant. Usually the menu will be in Bahasa Melayu but you can ask them. Example you wanna order Fried Noodle but instead of Chicken you wanted to change to Beef. Just tell them and they will cook it for you. In Bahasa Melayu, Beef is called Daging Lembu or most commonly use is Daging. Malay can eat Beef, Chicken, Fish, Seafod except Pork & Alcohol. It's forbidden in Islam. Some Buddhist Chinese can't eat Beef because they pray to Guan Yin.

Most of the point is true, but as a Malaysian, i think I have to point out something too: 1. Handshakes are fine to most Malaysian, except for some Muslim girls as they are not allowed to have physical contacts with opposite gender, but I believe our society is more open nowadays and it's totally fine especially u r in cities. If you're really concern about handshakes thing, it's always better to Nod your head as greetings because it's quite common in Malaysia too. 2. Beef is very common to be found in Malaysia food, maybe our beef is not served in the form which western does, but Beef is still a lot more common to be found compare to pork in Malaysian Food. Buddhist and Hindus don't eat beef, so you can't find beef in most Indian and Chinese restaurant, but nost Chinese in Klang Valley do consume beef. Pork is not allowed to be consumed by Muslim. You can only find pork in Chinese Food among the local Malaysian Food. 3. We Malaysians believe that it's more polite to point with our thumb, and we always try out best to treat our visitor well, that's why it's rare to see a Malaysian will show you direction with index finger when you ask for help. Actually,we can speak English. But most of Malaysians don't know / don't understand your English. The problem may be because of your accent / slang. And,you can enter with your shoes on (shops),but some of them you can't. :) Also, yes, you can't point with your 👆🏻 finger, use 👍🏻 instead. You can eat beef, but not pork,it's very disrespectful to us,especially Muslims. Or should I say, whole country?

Uhh,not the whole country. Remember Malaysia is a multiracial country. The Muslim can't eat pork and the Hindus don't eat beef, it really depends on our respective religion ,so don't classify it as "disrespectful" to the whole country..😂

Hi...welcome to Malaysia.. this may help u during ur stay... 1. There are 3 major races in Malaysia.. Malays (approx 50%), Chinese (30%), Indian (10%) and others (10%)..roughly. The Chinese & Indian look like those in other countries.. The Malay looks like Siamist, Philipino or very close to Indonesian... Most (99.9%) Malays are Muslim....most muslim woman wear scarf... Chineses are Budha and Indians are Hindu... Being Muslims, we follow the teaching of Islam which is very comprehensive but not as extremes as you heard from the western propaganda.. so, enjoy ur stay, dont worry about terrorism...u can anytime come to our mosque and see our daily worship.. come around 5.45am, 1pm, 4.15pm, 7pm, 8.15pm... we pray 5 times daily. U can ask us about our religion, dont scare....we do t bring machinegun or mortar 60 or nuclear bomb with us...hahaha... u free to go wherever u want to..... u can have a chat with whoever u want to... enjoy ur stay...

Aww, thanks for coming to Malaysia and Thailand. I'm ethnically both Malay and Thai, so thanks for both sides. By the way, I need to tell you that there is one state where you won't find any alcohol, pork or cinemas. Kelantan forbids all that I just mention, but yes we all can speak English but most of us which is only ethnically Malay is awkward to speak in English. One more thing, don't bring durian inside an air-conditioned place or even in public vehicle because it's smells will stay for at least 12 hours. Back about alcohol in Kelantan, you can't be drunk and can't drink in public or even in restaurant or other places except your own room or house. Sincerely thanks for coming!

hey there! love your video about our country, Malaysia! and yes, these things are commonly practised in Malaysia. I'm half Japanese/Malay and when my relatives come from Japan, they normally would like to shake hands and they have no idea that it is not common to shake hands with the opposite gender (it happens all the time! LOL). But that is what I love about Malaysia! But just one thing that i am not really favour to see in your video is that most of the people that you interview or viewed in this videos are not Malaysian (immigrant of Bangladesh and Myanmar), wish that you could have feature more Malaysian ( I really feel bad if they can't help you guys much during your trip in Malaysia) But anyhow, happy that you guys enjoyed Malaysia! please come back again!
