This is what happens when you add to much weight to your crawler. At Boris Worx, we focus on RC Crawling, 3d Printed RC Accessories and Surfboard videos.
Top video! I find most foams that come with tyres are super soft. Even the TRX-4 Sport is heavier than most rigs out the box, for my heavy trail rig I use dual stage foams to stop this problem.
Foams make a world of difference, I run the proline dual stage foams all around on my TRX4. My rig is a little shy of 10 pounds. Heavy rig a lot brass up front with weighted wheels. Crawls very good.
I'm groovin on the pro-line dual stage foams and hirax tires, on my K5 blazer ,lift kit, brushless, brass ect... No problems on the trails or rocks and I live in the foothills.Nice vid bro!🤓👍✌️
Airing down too much is a beginner mistake at the trail head! (Jk) Thank you for sharing, I run a set of proline dual foams on my heavy trx4 with hyrax. After 2-3 battery packs, the performance was way better!
good tip. I met this guy on the trail but he just didn't get that to much weight can be a problem so I made this video for him to get a better understanding
An interesting video, thank you! I'm just getting into RC crawling, with a cheap and cheerful FTX Mauler. I had thought about adding zinc weights (that you'd use for balancing full size car wheels) into the wheel rims on the Mauler (I upgraded to Alloy beadlocks), but then that would add extra stress onto the drive train, particularly the drive shafts and gearing... I already stripped the plastic diff lock spools on the Mauler after a few weeks, eventually replacing them with alloy ones from Aliexpress. I am experimenting with 50g of weights gorilla taped to the front axle housing, however after watching this video, I'm not entirely sure that is actually helping my crawler perform better!
Hi FTX Mauler is a good Crawler, when upgrading every little bit helps, even if its just 5% improvement. Try unsprung weight with sprung weight, and changing to 10 weight shock oil. Let me know what happens
@@borisworx9199 The 50g of weight on the front axle housing helped a lot, as well as upgrading to 2.2" Proline Hyrax. At the moment no more upgrades for the Mauler, as I'm now building up a TRX4 Sport kit :-)
Having no resistance in your tire is an issue but if you get a heavy vehicle having your tire conform more with dual stage foams allows a larger contact patch thus more friction on whatever surface or slope. It also helps with surface conformity so if your on a sandstone hill for instance that has a ton of tiny grooves or small jutting points a softer foam and more tire contact make a ton of difference. That said theres a Goldilocks zone you wanna hit because if your tire collapses too much if effects side hilling and vertical climbing if your rear tires/side tires are completely flat under heavy stress
Not sure about the guy you met, but I added all chassis alloy, f/r bumpers raised/tucked, 2.2 beadlocks w/mudslingers, long arm kit, 120mm shocks, axles and all brass down below -except those cheesy bolt on and wheel weights🤮. Absolutely zero issues so far, except when it does decide to roll and on a steep hill GRAB IT!! Very very heavy 😅. Made my trx4 unstoppable on the trail and creek's though. Tire foams that are the right size and density (med+) are crucial. Tuning with good shocks like desert lizard is also so important. Love my first trx4 build💟 will not be my last.
I keep my trucks as light as possible… for hardbodies atleast. I really like crawler innovations deuces wild single stage closed cell foams. They don’t fold and allow fantastic steering and side hilling. Single for mud use and the duals if they’ll never get wet
question I’m about to add a whole bunch of brass parts for better crawling that almost weighs up to 2 pounds! Or 948 grams roughly. Can I add this without changing the motor? And if so what’s the max amount of weight I can add without hurting the motor or it’s performance severely…
Wish I could go back to when I first got my TRX4 2021 Bronco. Before I even ran it I spent a LOT of money going for scale. Heavy metal front & rear bumper, roof rack, alloy wheels, interior, light kit.. It was HEAVY and flipped easily. 14MM wideners now the front tires rub. Truck sags and even the rear rub. Took off the roof rack, stock width... Truck was fine stock and seems people just like when the delivery truck arrives with shiny/fresh aluminum "upgrades."
Gravity is always pulling ⬇️. As your model tilts up, gravity is still pulling down. Weight, positioning low or high toward CG becomes less relevant the steeper the 📐. The stickier the tire helps, but it’s going to flip. On the TRX4, weight hanging on the front of the center frame is all that’s needed. For fun, what’s the max angle your model will climb on particle board? Mine is 52°-53°. 54 it flips. I can provide video.
@@Danny_Joiner You can add a heavy bumper and a winch(Trx4 defender),or you can put a heavy differential cover(60g) and bumper mount(90g)(Trx4 blazer). There lots of other brass this & that out there too
So my uncle has the TRX4 defender an he drove in some water and in doing so it did something to the tires and made them super soft like that and now it looks like it has flat tires all around. So my question is why did it do that?
Stock wheels on the TRX4 are vented, so if you’re going to run through water you’ll have issues with wet foams. There are videos available that address this and how to take care it.
Hi if he wants to go through water he must tape the breather holes closed on the inside of the rim. looks like he needs a new set of foams. I will make video on installing new foams on the standard TRX4 rims
Nobody puts weight ontop of the car, you put it as low down as you can to lower the center of gravity. If you manage to put the weight where it belongs, aka in the wheel hubs, you have huge benefits. Also, running without wheel foams make you look silly when you try to prove a point.
its not about simply putting more weight ... its about putting it at the right place !! and lower the center of gravity ... in certain cases ... some driver would prefer a better scale feeling .. to keep the realism .. me .. i have a defender , im putting 900 grams diff to compensate the weight of the cherokee harbody on my truck .. nooo its not a competition truck , but its built more for a scale .. so i have the right tire rigidity to match the weight too .
Tires look like they don’t have foam in them.. I have weight on my trx4 n the tires look a lil flat but the performance is stil ther.. no issues wat so ever.. u can see it in my videos that I’ve posted on utube
I met this guy on the trail but he just didn't get that to much weight can be a problem, so I made this video for guys like him to get a better understanding.
yeah I guess its a beginner mistake. I met this guy on the trail but he just didn't get that to much weight can be a problem, so I made this video for him (people that are getting into the hobby) to get a better understanding
@@borisworx9199 Heehee, I printed myself a smartphone holder to hook over my steering wheel while I eat my lunch. But during the 32C weather we had here in south UK, it got a bit warped!!!!! LoL! I'll print another before I try to heat this one up to fix it! 😅
get better firmer foams and never worry again. i got that set and they are rubbish, they are waaaaay too soft.and do that constantly, not even good for trailing ....they are for light rigs perisd
I met this guy on the trail but he just didn't get that to much weight can be a problem, so I made this video for him (people that are getting into the hobby) to get a better understanding. I know I had far to much weight on that set
Sorry I know your saying. I met this guy on the trail but he just didn't get that to much weight can be a problem, so I made this video for him (people that are getting into the hobby) to get a better understanding
