My worst fear is sitting at a restaurant being halfway through my meal and seeing Jon Taffer or Gordon Ramsay storm through the doors, might as well spit the food out right then and there.
I can't take this seriously because Jon looks like he's leaving the car as if he's about to SPRINT to the bar, but then he walks SO SLOWLY instead. It just cracks me up so much.
Imagine getting a voicemail of someone telling you you need to come in to work ASAP, and hearing a screaming Jon Taffer in the background. My heart would stop lol
Boss: ~with Jon Taffer yelling at him in the background~ Can you come in early? There's a situation and I need you here ASAP ~I gain the power of teleportation, because I don't want to miss another second of this dressing down. I even have pop corn~

People forget these days, but cross-contamination was responsible for a lot of foodborne illness and death until the 1950's when standards were imposed. So food safety is a vital and new concept in human history.
Hell it wasn't even until 1982 that it was a federal offense to tamper with consumer products. Congress voted on that because of the Chicago Tylenol poisonings. Fun fact, they still have no idea who did that
I work in a kitchen and thankfully the managers running the kitchen takes shit like this very seriously. First thing I was taught was to wash my hands regularly and to wear clean gloves everytime I handle any type of food. You would think people who have worked in a kitchen for years would understand the severity of not washing your hands regularly and wearing clean gloves
Not even remotely true. The concept of food safety was written about by Ancient Greeks and studied extensively from the 1700's onward. Popular knowledge and standardization may only be recent as the 40's/50's but as a scientific discipline the concept is not at all novel.
In the 80s, you could SAFELY eat RAW ground beef and RAW eggs! Know why you can't now? Extremely serious animal cruelty. You'll never get healthy food from badly abused animals.
@subhuman8945 Not even close. In 1906, the U.S. Congress enacted the first food safety and labeling regulations, and after World War II, consumers finally started to pay more attention to food safety. They wanted their governments to establish specific regulations and standards to ensure safe food for all. If food safety was written by ancient greeks and studied extensively from 1700s onwards they would've been no smallpox, typhoid fever and various other diseases/illness. Food and sanitation didn't come into effect until the early 1900s
A lot of ppl think this show is staged but as someone who’s worked as a server for 10+ years, I can attest that things like this do happen. A lot of these sleazy, highway bars or run down bars in the city rarely get health code checks, rarely make any real revenue, constantly reuse food and beverages.

I would love to see Jon do a top 10 red flags to look for in a bar/pub, would be a great help when traveling into a new town. I know there are obvious signs but I’m sure he has some good tips on what to look out for…
Ik one tip is if the bar is sticky and there's liquor all over the counter where the bartenders are and if they over pouring or under pouring they are most likely fail in other places. Also how the bartenders treat you is also a huge sign if the place is well off or not
@Mark Breau well the deadline doesn't leave much for bullshit so it makes sense. He does these one after the other, which is quite impressive that he can factor in any success to the entertainment.
I also remember seeing an interview where he said something along the lines of he also yells to try to get the owners to understand why he’s there and pretty much if the owners not gonna get mad at why their bar is going under then somebody has to
@@GigiForShort in my opinion it depends where you go and who's working. If I see a place where a bunch of 18 to 25 year olds are working I cringe a little. Im not saying every person that age can't cook or do their job but cooking is something you perfect as you get older. I don't find cooking very difficult. In fact I enjoy doing it. I've met a lot of people though that mess up even the simplest dishes.
@@user-rw4xi8sm8h Being someone in that age range, it does get hard, man. And it sucks when you can’t get shit done. I love making pizza. However, I don’t like making people wait in Little Caesars. I mean the moldy ribs and prime rib caddy were so gross, if anything he might have underreacted to how horrifying that was. There were literal mold colonies on the outside of that rib and he just cooked it and sent it.
I took culinary class in high school, and was shocked when I learned it wasn't offered across the entire school system...cross-contamination is some serious shit 😬
So in California, in order to get any job that handles food, you need a Food Handler’s license. It’s a short, one and a half hour course. One segment they put great emphasis on is customer safety and ensuring the prevention of food-born illness, especially due to cross-contamination. For example, meat and vegetables should never be cut on the same cutting board.
The funny thing to me is that it's so simple, a child could comprehend it, yet these grown-ass adults don't! Rule 101: never store cooked product anywhere near raw product and that seems to be the main thing these idiots fail at doing! Like, how hard is it to keep cooked and raw items separated? Also, the hand-washing failures make me throw up in my mouth. You should be double time washing your hands in a commercial kitchen, simple as that! The level of cross-contamination is so off the charts in these places that I'm surprised the idiots don't make themselves sick handling all that raw food and then touching everything with that rawness on their hands!
I love how DJ's employees were just watching all happily. Reminds me of childhood when me and my siblings would listen to the other getting in trouble.... ahhh memories.
I basically went Jon Taffer on my boss because I told him that there's chemicals in the fryer (it smelled like paint and was making the fry people lightheaded) and that we shouldn't serve anything out of that fryer. He said it's ok, and that it wasn't a big deal, and to go ahead and keep serving from that fryer. He's also approved serving spoiled chicken before, as well as telling cooks to do things that will cross-contaminate the kitchen with raw chicken. His response to me was that he's "got bigger fish to fry," and that he'll "get to the problems at his own pace." 🤦🏽♂️
Reasons why John should do a episode with Gordon Ramsey Reason one: they have the same burning passion, even if they sound like assholes Reason two: they are both amazing at their jobs Reason three: they both know exactly what they are doing and won’t take shit from anyone Reason four: all of the above plus the fact that it sounds super promising in general. Edit: they also both say “Look at it!” while proceeding to touch the filth and grime and nasty stuff that they don’t clean.
@@javonfr8030 but come on... If be funny seeing two guys yelling at owners and chefs. Plus they can share both sides like let day one didn't notice one thing and the other guy come in and is like dude... They did this shit.
There was also that one show with the British chef with huge muscles. Forgot the name but that show was good too. He used to piss the owners off so bad
My dads friend from the army owned a deli, on of the meats was found to have mold on it and the business was closed down immediately, seeing as a full stack of rib has mold in it, I am surprised that the business was still running
14:56 "a tater tot, you can't cook?!?!" Priceless! I feel so bad for Jon having to deal with all of this. I worry about him. The attitude of these people in these bars.....a society issue of ego. Sickening.
The chicken wings part was kind of hilarious because he says they're already cooked and so they can't be raw. If that's the case, then they aren't raw, they're just cold. But, I have no idea if they're pre-cooked or not. Either way, I wouldn't want pre-cooked wings, sounds gross.
I think guys like Jon Taffer and Gordon Ramsay get so firey and in-your-face is because they legitimately care and want to see people succeed, so they use tough love.
No lol they do it for the content. If they weren't surrounded by security/cameras, they'd have been physically assaulted by now; even if they were in the right to be upset. The episodes would be boring if they didn't rage.
