One time I went to Home Depot and I put the bags of pot soil the manure type into the cart and I put a good 8 bags and I knew these were like 2 dollars each. Anyways I go to checkout and the lady instead of scanning went to the screen putting what she thought was the right brand the total came out to like 79 dollars I was like wait a minute. And she double checked
HAHAHAHA!!! Yeah, all those " cheap" las Vegas casinos on the strip......when you check out they pile on those resort fees!! A $75 room turns into a $200 room
It’s not a scam because they list it prior to booking. You just have to be aware when booking. But most people aimlessly book hotels with no thought in the world. That’s not the hotel’s fault, buyer beware.
I mean... It's pretty much a public space. Hotels don't require a key to get into the main lobby. Old school hotels still have elevators that don't require hotel key card to use the elevator. So by that point it's easy to reach each floor to drop off flyers or do other nefarious things. Smaller hotels with no night time staff usually lock the front doors and guests have to use their hotel key to let themselves in. Or even if they need a hotel key to get on the elevator someone could easily pretend to be on the same floor as another guest already entering the elevator. It's too easy. And in huge hotels the staff won't even recognize their guests. At least a smaller hotel there's a chance the staff will remember your face.
I was staying at a luxury hotel in Vegas and I was confronted with the front desk scam. I too was in a deep sleep when the phone rang telling me that the hotel needed to run my card again. I told them one moment, put the phone down on the nightstand, and went back to sleep. When I checked with the front desk the next morning, they knew nothing about it.
This happened to me a call in the middle of the night asking for my credit card # 💳 . I told them, "Are you sure you call the right room number??" He said,' Yes, then I told him, '" Who are you looking for?? " Then hung up on me.
@elenaarman-tang7811 I stayed at so many hotels I couldn't remember the name. However, I remember the next morning going to the front desk asking if anyone called my room around 2 or 2:30, They said no, but I was told someone claimed they got a call from our office, too. The young lady said they don't normally call at those hours.
It depends whats the problem. If its payment issues. They wont let you sleep a night for free 😂 So if indeed your credit card payment didnt go through or they got some weird bank/credit card statement. They will bother you 😆
@@mathewvanostin7118 : No they won't, not in a normal hotel. But yes if it's a $29.95 Motel 6 special they will wake you up in between dealing with the drug dealers out back. However they get their money up front since they know there is no chasing the drug dealers.
Common sense isn’t all that common anymore unfortunately. Hell I consider myself smart and even I was ALMOST fooled when caught off guard of a scam once or twice after being on shift for 10 hours. Fortunately I stopped to think and realized nobody works past 5pm in our corporate offices unless hell had frozen over 🤣 And the amount of retail workers who believe that a ‘cash card’ is actually a thing is alarming…
This scam is years old. I worked at a Sheraton in Orlando for 11 years way back from 2003-2014 and this was happening back then. Where have these people been the last 20 years?
@@edthelazyboyhow are these scams? Everyone knows you will be charged for taking items from a mini bar. And you can easily look up the cost for any hotels resort fees.
This is happening in hospitals, too. The hospital insurance coordinator came in at 9 am on day 2 and confirmed all that she had about my insurance. Then an hour later, some agressive sounding buffoonish woman called my room number, stating I had no insurance and asked for my info. I didn't give them anything on the phone and hung up an called the insurance coordinator. Shesaid it wasnt her team. I was sick and literally out of my mind, but I atill knew that call was some BS. It's a shame you can't even be sick in yhe hospital without these scammers trying you.
NEVER answer or use room phone either! A call on that phone is rarely the hotel, or it’s an internal (employee) scam. Checking if you are in room bathroom, etc. assume there are tiny camera in your room, bathroom in multiple locations! It’s a sick world!
If they sounded somber and monotone, then it would have sounded like they didn’t like their job. What difference does it make when they communicate it this way, when the message is more important than how the message is delivered? It’s not like they were reporting a mass shooting or actual victims losing tens of thousands of dollars.
THIS IS WHAT I RECEIVE FROM THE OTHER LINE ABOUT A DELIVERY AND WANT ME TO PROVIDE MY INFO. AND THEYWANT SOMEONE IN SPANISH. BUT WHAT I DO IS HAVE A POLICE NUMBER READY AND TRANSFER THE CALLER TO A POLICE STATION.
I thought this would be about resort fees and not offering maid service even when you're paying full rate at a nationally top tier chain. And they still use "due to covid" bs. That to me is the scam.
I always disconnect the hotel/resort phone. The only one that calls is from the hotel trying to give me free things if I join their timeshare presentation🥴🤦🏻♀️
Over 30 years ago, my husband and I were in Canada and we got a call late at night about the payment. My husband told them we would take care of it in the morning. I don't remember exactly what happened in the morning but we checked out of that hotel and found another one.
0:30 FIRST SCAM WAS CREATIVE. 2ND SCAM I DID FALL FOR IT TWICE BUT LUCKILY ALL MY TRANSACTION GOES THROUGH CONFIRMATION CALLS. THIS HAPPENED WITH ME ESPECIALLY IN HILTON (EU), RITZ(INDIA). GOOD JOB IN REPORTING 👏👏
Sounds very much like phishing e-mail scams, and the best way to handle those is to contact the business directly to find out if the request is legitimate, or better yet, visit the business or hotel management in person for verification.
How do the scammers get the phone numbers for the rooms? I'm guessing it's the room number as an extension to the hotel's actual phone number? It amazes & irritates me how many people refuse to get a job and make an honest living.
Hotel should be responsible for this, because as client you should feel safe in the hotel...So,if somebody scammed you in the hotel, then hotel should recovery your financial lost, because they shouldn't allowed those people to come or call to the hotel...Period...😎
Got scammed some like this in Vegas Long day , finally got to suite Nice flyer with good looking pictures of tasty food Ordered,,delivered,,paid and open up,,and look look like 💩,,, Boss Pizza btw…that place just junk,,,don’t fall for those flyers
Where’s the security, they should be monitoring the cameras. Who’s working the front desk, they shouldn’t be allowing unsolicited flyers under the doors. They must have a sorry a- - Security Director.
Who tf trusts anything from a random flyer that "somehow" made it's way to the door??? And why would anyone order food from some random place they didn't even check the reviews for? And why pay the card over the phone before they even got their food? It all seems like basic awareness. Also, it would be a major security breach for the hotel if someone can access the phone line from outside.
