Instead of scissors, I always bring nail clippers. They are smaller, never get confiscated, I can take them abroad, and on the plane. They cut tags, tear through plastic, and are life savers when I have a chipped nail. I've even used them to grip and pull knotted shoelaces. The ones that clip on your keychain are extremely convenient.
Yes! Nail clippers are a much safer option for traveling and great for cutting both nails and tags. I have a mini keychain one and it’s perfect to keep in my bag.
You can fly with safety scissors. AS LONG AS THEY ARE UNDER A CERTAIN SIZE. CHECK WITH YOUR AIRLINE FOR EXACT RULES. Either child safety scissors or 1st aid scissors . I’ve flown with both packed in checked luggage.
@ScottLRoc70 i apologize if i implied you couldn't, but thank you for the information. Personally, I'd rather not chance it, or seek out special scissors, when nail clippers do the job and trim the nails lol
Disney actually offers "Balloon day care" for balloons at Animal Kingdom! You check it in with a cast member before entering the park, and before leaving, they will return it to you with a daycare sheet detailing all of the fun things your balloon did that day! 😂
I went to DisneyWorld last week, after watching DFBguide videos for 4 years. I felt like a pro - thanks to this channel! Thank you AJ and team, your videos were very useful, and always very fun to watch! Keep up the good work!
@@mollysass6468 Early morning and during the evening is the best. Midday is crowded. Use ligtning lanes then. It also helps if you prioritize attractions as you probably don't have enough time to see everything.
Ya’ll as a former dancer just use a tennis ball to “roll your feet out”. So just sit in a chair out the ball the floor and rest tour foot on top of the ball and just roll the ball around with your foot. You can also use a golf ball.
Start a walking program a couple of months before your trip. Bring a couple of broken in shoes so you can swap out shoes. I've neen to Disney 5 times in the last couple of years and I've never gotten blisters. I bring extra socks to change into in case it rains. And I never wear new shoes.
On the same trip we both forgot a hairbrush! My husband didn't want to spend the time or money since we had them at home so the dry shampoo became indespensible!
6:18 If you’re going to Epcot I STRONGLY recommend go to the exit of the Moana educational water… thing, and getting water from there because, at least every time I used it, the water there was cold & refreshing.
BIG AGREE ON BRINGING YOUR OWN PILLOW CASE!! I dye my hair funky colors and when I know I have a trip coming up I'll usually refresh it a week or so before the trip so I like bringing my own pillow case just in case the dye in my hair tries to transfer to the pillow. 🤣
When it comes to skincare, witch hazel pads are a life saver. If you have oily skin and it's muggy and gross out it can be the quick clean up you need when you can't go wash your face
I once lost my ID in Animal Kingdom. Disney was so helpful and told me how to get in touch with the police to file a report, which made it much easier to get on the plane back home. The TSA agent asked if I had anything else on me that had a photo, and at the time I had a Southern California Select Disneyland Annual Pass so that worked! Ironically, Disneyland helped me get home from Walt Disney World!
It's wise to make a photocopy of all your ID and keep in in a separate spot from your actual ID. If you're taking your passport, this is especially important --- just copy the relevant pages. This idea will be a lifesaver if you lose your wallet or passport.
I make a list of EVERY item I want to bring along with quantity, like pairs of socks, jeans, shorts, Medication & so on. I then a month ahead of time start breaking in any new items I'll be bringing like shoes. A week prior I'm packing my bags as I don't want to scramble to find & wash those must bring items like shirts with Mickey. Keeping those tickets & NEED items in one place keeps me from forgetting anything!
Exactly! I’ve had stuff in the spare room for a couple months this weekend I moved it to the dining room table w/suitcases. Every trip we take my husband laughed at me & says he’s just throw it in a bag the night before we leave. But boy he’s glad when I have everything! We leave Illinois in 12 days!
We purchased a box of couple hundred biodegradable straws and my wife carries a few in a toothbrush holder. If your blister pads keep falling off, try leukotape. Backpackers use it and it doesn't come off until you take it off. We use a campers dry bag for toiletries packed in our suit case. Hope this helps.
I always bring an outlet extender that has numerous USB ports so I can charge all the magic bands, tablets, stroller fans, etc. There’s never enough outlets!
I always take a small first aid kit. Yes, they have first aid in the parks. But what happens if you’re in line for a ride? Or not close to first aid. It’s been very useful many times.
Agreed! I brought Mickey Mouse band-aids and helped another Mom out when her child had fallen and skinned her knee. No more tears after she saw that it was Mickey!
I brought a hand towel with me in my park bag (just in case). Ended up being the thing we used the most! Using it to avoid hot benches, drying off after a rainstorm, wiping out wet Crocs, wiping off benches after rainstorm….
I never ever forget my cooling towels, and large zip lock bags.I started remembering a small pack of detergent too. When my kids were little they would bring their pillow pets for sleeping too.
These were very useful tips. Coming from the military, those boots literally destroy your feet forever. I wish I would have been smart about taking care of my feet on our last Disney trip. My wife and I ended with blisters and unbearable pain. When I got home from the trip I used a massager which helped my feet. Needless to say I will be packing my own massager for the next trip. I also thought my wife was crazy in wanting to buy linen for the hotel. It seems crazy but after she got the linen I slept a whole lot better. Now we call that our Disney linen. Thank you for the video, certainly helps a lot.
I will put in my 2 cents worth (these days, esp in Disney, that's my $20 worth) Divide up the " in case of items" between adults: for example: Have one person in your group pack a Tide stain removal stick for drips & drops on clothes. One person needs to carry a small folding umbrella (in addition to the ponchos. Ever tried to use your cell phone in a rain shower without getting it soaked in a just a poncho? I have; doesn't work well) A few Tide basin detergent packs for hand laundry can be helpful if the hotel laundry machines are busy or inconvenient. I like to bring a small blanket for my Disney room. I'm that person who can get cold in air-conditioned rooms. And bringing Orthopedic flip flops for post park wear are magic! I like Oofos, but there are many great brands. Your feet will thank you!
Flushable wipes or baby wipes. Toilet paper doesn’t always cut it, and the baby wipes can help you “rinse” your body off throughout the sweaty park day. Rechargeable fan as well!
I live in my crocs. Wear socks with crocs, when wet take socks off (just bring ziploc for wet socks). We also bring our 5 and below blankets for the room
Yes to the rolling foot massager! I threw mine in on a whim…my husband thought I was nuts until he used it at the end of our first park day. Then I was a genius. 😉 I’d also add that a pair of supportive and comfortable slippers (Birkenstock clogs for me) are wonderful on the hard floors of the Disney hotel rooms.
One pair of clean (preferably new) cotton socks for each day. Knee brace in case I needed it (I didn't). Body glide (ditto). Workout clothes, including sneakers. Cole slaw (actually cabbage with some carrots). Patience.
Instead of a roller foot massager just use a filled water bottle. Lay it on it's side, on the floor and roll your foot back on forth on the side of the bottle. Frozen water bottles feel good too.
My sister put an Apple AirTag on her stroller so she and her husband could always find it even if it has been moved. She and her husband also had location sharing turned on with her in-laws so they could find each other if they split up.
Lol on the something from home I brought my hufflepuff fleece blanket last time I stayed at Disney. It decorated the bed during the day. It was was good to snuggle with at night, I used it to put over me on chilly nights or around me when I’m sitting up in bed in the evening reading. Was definitely glad I brought it as it got plenty of use.
LOL, no spontaneous annihilation from putting a Universal property in a Disney room? (-; I have a super soft TARDIS blanket that I was planning to bring on my next Disney trip even before they announced Disney+ would be showing Doctor Who!
Pretty sure I learned about Body Glide Foot from you AJ! That one item has saved us from so much trouble. Also wearing different shoes each half day or day. Also, even before we knew you, have often used two large ziplocs to make an ice pack from the hotel ice machine for foot relief during nap time (should we have planned so well)
Al McWiggin: “Let’s see, ‘wallet’, ‘keys’, ‘beef jerky’ (very expensive over there), uh ‘shower’?” **sniffs** “Ugh, I can skip the shower! ‘Tickets’, ‘Passport’…ah, I gotta go, I gotta GO!”
My parents bought us plastic straws and we never used them. We relied on Disney straws and in Frozen Cokes, they weren't bad. I take a Britta water bottle. I filled it with sink water the night before and put it in the refrigerator, so it would be nice, tasty and cold for park days. I recommend taking Mega Babe Anti-Chaffing stick. It wonks wonders! I didn't even pack my checked bag, my BEYOND WONDERFUL husband did. He read my checklist and went from there.
On our first trip to DW 10 years ago, i got so wrapped up in making sure my husband and kids had everything they needed, i realized the first morning that o had completely forgotten to pack any underwear for myself 😕 off to target we went
totally the kinda thing i would forget when I pack to go somewhere. I actually did a few months ago. Had like 3 bags with lots of stuff for my trip (it wasn't disney or anything, but still a trip). i brought a book, fidget toys etc and I... I forgot underwear :|
These are great tips, and we use almost all of them. I would like to add that we never go without a disposable dishcloth to wipe down surfaces we eat on in our room and a sharpie marker. Currently we can’t bring scissors across the boarder unless in a checked bag, but also a must have!
For the girls: bring a mini hair brush !!! Especially if you’re riding rollercoasters or rides where you can get wet. My hair gets tangled easily especially since my hair is long. You can get them from the dollar tree or you can get cute Disney ones with a small handle from Miniso (I have the 101 Dalmatians one)
To AJ’s point, please please pleaseeee bring a foot roller or massager. I have custom inserts in my walking shoes and they are ridiculously comfortable however my feet still ache after a long day in the parks. Seriously underrated tip. One trip I even got ice from the machine near the vending machines and soaked my feet in ice water to help with the aches. It WILL sneak up on you…maybe not the first or second day but eventually they will hurt.
I sleep with a fan running its white noise so when in Disney I use a 10 hour utube video of fan noise and my phone is linked to a small Bluetooth speaker just keep both plugged in all night works great !!
Pack a tennis ball. You can use it like the foot roller but it takes up less space and you can also use it for any other place you end up with aches and pains.
LOL Bold of you to assume I’d bother with makeup on park days! My mission is to get to the rides very early on. Moisturizer and sunblock, yes. Makeup? Nah. I’ll save that for a dinner date or partying at Disney Springs.
I’ve got what might seem like a wild thing to add in the tools category, but a few lengths of paracord, and a couple of rolls of 1 inch gaff tape(not duct tape) could come in clutch. One of our stroller wheels started to disintegrate on our MK day. Thankfully it was our last day, but I was able to use paracord to wrap it, and then gaff tape to reinforce it.
I’m going for my birthday next weekend, this is the first time since a child. So nearly 20 years! I can’t tell you how much I adore this channel and how it’s become my every day go to recently haha!
I miss Disney World Animal Kingdom so much! I haven't been there since 2011 and I would like to work for them as a Zookeeper because it is beautiful there. I could also enjoy and spend time at the Swimming pool, Roller Coasters and watching the parade at Magic Kingdom. I additionally want to move to Orlando or Kissimmee Florida because I've been dreaming about this since I was a kid and I'm looking forward to it for the future!
"bring socks" I will add to this that on Splash Mountain a few years ago I rode got DRENCHED.... I road around 10 am... by 10 PM finally back in the room and my underwear was still SOAKED from 12 hours ago. I wish I could have changed earlier in the day. I had ran back to the hotel room to change at dinner time as I just hopped on the ferry outside the back of world showcase after having dinner in America... but sitting in the room they still did not dry. You may not think about bringing a change of clothes if you do not have kids but I will always suggest an entire change of clothes no matter the age.
As mentioned in the video about power banks/portable chargers for cell phones, that’s an absolute must for me and I never leave home without and you can get one where electronics are sold such as Best Buy, target or Walmart.
10:14 the last time I was there I brought a travel size pillow (I don't like the Disney pillows) and listened to the BBC World Service on TuneIn on my phone to go to sleep. For my toiletries, I did wish I had brought travel size shampoo and body wash. I didn't like the ones provided.
Helpful video. I like the idea of bringing my own plastic forks, smart, I will be packing that. Also , from a review in a fave fashion mag- Allure- Banana Boat Sport is t.h.e best sunscreen, feels good and stay on really well.
Anybody going and staying in Disney resorts you get to go to the parks 30mins early. But what they do is you can go in the parks a hours before just have to wait tell 8:30 to go on the rides. I was able to ride test track 2 all before 9:30
I’d recommend a collapsible stool. They make them compact down to the size of a water bottle and can fit into a tote bag or clip to a belt loop. Very handy to have when stuck waiting in super long/slow lines. Be warned as the park might not allow them. I had a friend who brought one and no one gave him any trouble for bringing in his compact folding stool. Some people even asked him where he got it.
8:40 we always bring a lidocaine spray (like icy hot) and spray it on my feet when i get back to the hotel. it feels so good! plus you can use it on sore leg muscles too. we also bring a tennis ball or a billiards ball to roll out our feet (billiards ball is best bc it’s cold!)
also! every time i’m in disney i have a running list of things i wish i had brought with me in the notes app of my phone. then when im packing for my next trip i check my list to see what i wanted in the past
Thank-you AJ! Everything from DFB is always so upbeat, to the point and very helpful. I also suggest baby wipes (the disposable kind) and duct tape. I strained my ankle once in DW and wrapped it with white duct tape and never bothered getting an ankle bandage. Also ankle and knee bandages are good if one is inclined to hurting oneself.
We were in a Riviera 2 bedroom where the paint was torn from tape and cake and coffee residue was evident on several areas, under molding, behind the TV. Housekeeping moved us it was so bad
Love this! Thank you! What do you use to help with motion sickness? Want to bring something in case one of use gets sick but gravol is all I know to take and it makes us all super sleepy. Thanks for your help!
Laundry sheets are fantastic for traveling! In fact, we liked them so much that this is what we use at home now. The ones we get are called Poesie Laundry Detergent Sheets. You still need fabric softener sheets with these.
if your coming from out of the country adapters and more than you think you need. I'm from the uk and in America it takes forever to charge my devises so being able to charge everything at once is a must.
Yes, our current is roughly half the strength of yours. This is also why Brits think we’re idiots for not using electric kettles to boil water for tea near-instantly. Ours just don’t have the power you’re used to. 😁
In past videos things like flavored powder to add to drinking water was mentioned. Did FL water taste improve? (And why the need more a white noise machine when there are apps for smartphones that are available?)
Florida tap water is pretty foul. The free ice water from food places is mostly fine, but fountains are a crapshoot. And when we ate at Space 220 this week, they served me what tasted and smelled like swamp water straight from the tap.
i too bring my pillow everywhere, this squishy pillows go pretty flat once you put enough pressure on them! i usually put mine in my carry on and like, i put the pillow at the end when its already filled with stuff and just squish the hell out of it and it fits no problem
I tried wearing sneakers to Disney last time I went after only wearing crocs for 6 months, I would’ve benefited from a foot massage because my ankles still haven’t recovered from walking a bunch and going with my Disney expert friend who had us go from rope drop to closing.
My mom & cousin said I was crazy & would regret it but I wore crocs & was fine and had to listen to my mom in cousin in sneakers & flats complain all day every day about their poor feet! Ha
As for your ID tip, if you are an international guest, a driver’s license might not even be enough when purchasing alcohol! I got kicked out of Trader Sam’s at Disneyland for showing an Ontario Canada driver’s license and not having my passport. The bartender said it’s because they get so many international visitors that they cannot confirm what every country’s driver’s license looks like. Idk if it’s the same in Florida, but if you want alcohol and are international, bring your passport! I thought I was being responsible by keeping it safe in my hotel room buuuuut obviously that was a mistake
Im going next month (from argentina) .. 2 parks 2 days.. this is exactly what I was looking for... your videos were super helpfull on my first trip a few years ago!.. thanks!
I take a plastic bag and put ice in it at night. I put my feet on it and it feels so good. Or run some cool water in the tub and sit on the side and cool your feet off. A tennis ball works great to massage your foot too.
Other than sunscreen, ponchos, and ID, can't say I've ever brought any of this stuff on my couple of dozen Disney trips and I did just fine. Then again, I'm a dude, not a dudette, so all the vanity stuff doesn't apply lol. Instead of ear plugs, I do bring headphones to listen to music when going to sleep. But I do that every night so it's not unique to Disney trips lol.
Pro tip: At the end of the day, fill the bathtub with lukewarm water and soak your feet for 15-30 minutes. It's free and ace at calming and soothing feet. If you're in a walk-in shower room, you're out of luck, but you can dip your feet in the pool if you're not back too late.
AJ or any DFB respondent…. What was the change to the TURTLE BROWNIE at Sunshine Seasons? It was on my list this trip because AJ always hypes it! lol. What’s the change, and is it worth saving stomach space? Lol
