That was brilliant, well done. I love seeing fellow UK RU-vidrs videos. Not only do we carry pound notes 💷 in our kits but our tools need to be UK legal and it makes it easier to purchase things recommended over here. The recommendation you received and decided to follow paid off, top down videos make it so much easier to follow 😄

I have several of similar cheap pouches in different colors. One of them I use as my decoy/dummy wallet that has some fake cards in it looking like (at first glance) bank/credit cards and some day cash. I can't say I have all the stuff you have in my 'possibles pouch' but I do have a small buttom compass because in strange cities you can easily get all directions confused and as long as you have some mental picture in your head of the city layout it can prevent you from walking in the wrong direction. A loud whistle I carry around my neck. But the general idea of an EDC 'possibles pouch' is good. Just don't make it too big or bulky or you won't carry it every day.

I have just added an important numbers note to my edc, it was inspired by seeing someone who was totally buggered by his phone dying, not battery dead, but his phone was totally fubar, he couldn’t contact anyone, miles from home, car broke down, eventually got in contact with Green flag breakdown (he thought he was with the AA) Luckily he remembered his daughters email address and we sent her an email, so she could tell his wife the situation. Seriously an important numbers list is an item that should not be left out of your carry.

Just came across your channel already subbed! it’s good to see more UK based EDC guys, you seem to have a very natural onscreen presence and I’m sure with a bit of time this channel could go far, so it feels like I’m getting in early as a ground floor subscriber 😂. I hope you don’t mind but perhaps I could offer a few suggestions, the overhead camera is great! But perhaps zoom out your front camera a bit so we can see the items and the table in front of you. It gives another angle on the item and it makes it look a bit more natural as we can see what you are doing and not just your arms moving. Having the table in shot also means you get to be creative when it comes time to add a some set dressing giving you an outlet to add some more of your own unique style and personality Overall though great videos so far! Also a cool little gadget that you may want to add to your pouch is a glass breaker I just put one in mine it’s a small elastic similar to a bobble with a tungsten bead that you twang into the glass it takes up no room but definitely worth having in an emergency.
@iansedc
@iansedc 6 месяцев назад
James! Thanks for your comment and thanks for the kind words. Yes the original plan was to zoom out a lot more however only AFTER filming did I realise that the table was a mess plus I had a couple of items with sensitive information on it. Next time I’ll tidy up ahead of time. I was filming for my second RU-vid channel for magicians only moments before filming this one. Love the suggestion of a glass breaker. I have one in my car but never thought of how useful they could be in day to day pedestrian life! Thanks again for your support.

While that Heat-It thingy seems neat, you've already got a lighter and a few metal items you could heat for the same purpose. (At home I use a spoon I've sat in hot water for a minute - very effective.) I guess the Heat-It would be safer, but it seems like a chore to open up an app, etc., just for a mosquito bite. Plus, it's a drain on your phone battery, which might be an issue if you're also in a situation where that battery life is critical. Cool gadget though. Another thought is that with your pills it might be a good idea to add a couple of water purification tablets in case you're in a situation where the water is iffy. Make sure to write down the instructions for them on your pill identifier sheet. Cheers!
@iansedc
@iansedc 5 месяцев назад
I see what you mean however the heat it item doesn’t use much battery and is great for regulating the temperature if I wanted to use it on my son etc. I highly recommend it! As for the water tablets, great shout! I have some in my backpack edc pouch but I could always add one or two here! Thanks!

I think we've watched the same YT reviews to build our kits! I use a Micro Maxpedition pocket pouch and it fits in my left front jeans pocket. I use a FoodSaver vacuumed credit card sized, custom pouch to squash down a pair of vinyl gloves. I have a J5 Mini BIC wrapped with medical tape, using a wire tie to stop the gas escaping. I also use multiple CC sized Ziploc bags for pills and open holders for money, paper, sewing kit, etc. I have an old CC wrapped with duct tape and then wrapped in aluminum foil. Some small diameter cordage is held in a shrink-wrap tube. I prefer a small, unopened, superglue tube to the glue gun glue. I cut mine in half for thinness, but decided it would be too messy to use. The superglue is intended for a single use. I also carry silicone ear plugs, Band-Aids, wipes, two cable ties, and a glasses repair kit in a small tube, along with a few toothpicks. A tiny Nextool Mini Sailor multitool (scissor version), a WeKnife Syrinx titanium pen and some flat EDC nail clippers. There's also a small microfiber cloth, a lip balm tube, safety pins and a largish paper clip. I also carry a CC sized stainless steel mirror and a CC sized fresnel lens. The front outside pocket has a CC holder with flat chewing gum in it and a piece of paper with my name and my emergency contact number on it. No address on it in case they get my house keys! A diy Snake Knot paracord is my zipper pull. I have a dovetailed magnetic keychain to hold my house keys hanging off the pull loop, along with a carabiner to hold my car key fob when needed. In my pocket under my Maxpedition is my EDC flashlight (Olight Baton4) with a Thrunite Titanium whistle hanging off it. My white handkerchief is in my back pocket and my slimline wallet, folding EDC comb/brush combo, and SOG Terminus XR folding knife go in my right front jean pocket. Cell phone is in my left back pocket! If you're really thoughtful on keeping things compact, you can carry a huge number of items without looking like a pack horse. Of course, being in the US, my gun holster hangs off my gun belt inside my jeans on my right side! Urban survival indeed! Nice video! 👍👍

One inconvenient of a Zippo in a mini EDC pouch is the maintenance items you might need in case of repair and the fluid to keep the Zippo going

@simonh6371
@simonh6371 5 месяцев назад
@@iansedc Mmm I'm not so sure that's the best choice then if you're not using it daily, as the fluid evaporates over time. I am a smoker and as well as at least 2 gas lighters, I have a capsule/peanut lighter on my keychain. It works exactly the same as a Zippo lighter, but is much smaller, and it has a rubber seal on the screw cap so even if you don't use it for months the fuel doesn't evaporate. Mine is the True Utility Firestash, I think you can still get them for under a tenner. But yes the Zippos are great lighters, almost iconic, and have a lifetime guarantee.

That's a great shout Terence, cheers, I have the needle in (one of) my wallets pushed through a small strip of hard cardboard but its less than ideal. I carry 2 wallets because of all the 'crap' I keep in my trouser pockets rather than in a bag or jacket pocket (also full of 'stuff'). The days of me not being out of my trousers away from home are sadly far behind me. 😒 I also hope that in the event of a mugging etc I'll still have a card and cash to get me home.

Hi mate, for real EDC I carry a needle, a few buttons and safety pins and a couple metres of black and white thread for immediate repairs. That should cover any embarrassments like a button falling off etc. I do have heavier needles etc for repairing heavier gear but for day to day I don't feel the need to carry it in my pockets. If I'm out in the woods or up the hills I carry other stuff to repair rucksacks/tarps etc but as a suburbanite... nah, no need. Other views are available of course. 😜

Thanks for taking the time to do the vid mate, good to see and I reckon you've covered most things although we'll all have different priorities. I've not tried that wee charging plug gizmo but I tend to take the hit on the size and just carry small standard cables for charging devices. Not in a micro kit right enough but one set with a powerbank in a jacket pocket, another in a pouch if I'm taking a small rucksack etc... I'm sure you get the picture.... 😂 Its always good to see how others are doing things so thanks again.

Great ideas, but the Swiss card knife is a “fixed blade” so breaks the law unless you can convince the police or a court that you had good reason to carry it. You could replace it with the Swiss card nail care which has no blade or just a victorinox classic SD. The olight imini torch is also worth looking at for emergencies where you don’t need a very bright light source.

I do appreciate the size and content is exactly what I have started to put together for myself, my wife and our son - so we each have some necessities - and being Canadian, that doesn’t include - as has been addressed in the comments already - hand gun and extra clips…. One thought - the mirror - is it stainless steel? Thinking that if it could be used in conjunction with a flat magnet, would broaden its potential application - notwithstanding one could “Macgyver” it with other components from your kit. Good video - now a follower. Professionally I work with companies to develop disaster planning and recovery plans… jokingly shared with one that anticipating worst case scenarios you have to think about including “Zombie apocalypse”…. So EDC has become a focus of late…

It's rather interesting to see what the intersection of what's contained in various author's EDC pouches/bags. There's really no right or wrong answer when it comes to these things, as much is down to the individual, their requirements, and their skills. If I had a suggestion, it would be to scrutinize closely any item that has a single purpose. One example in the kit presented here might be the tick removal card: there's already a pair of tweezers in the swiss army lite card that might be used for tick removal: is it really necessary to have a purpose-built thing for just that task, which serves literally no other purpose, especially when it's a low-probability of use item? Also, if this is an "urban" EDC pouch, what's the chances of getting ticks that require removal in an urban environment? On the other hand, something that could come in *incredibly* useful in an urban EDC pouch is a silcock key: most commercial buildings have a water spigot on the exterior of the building, which *could* be used to procure water...if one has a silcock key. Hydration, in an urban survival situation, might rate a bit higher than the low-probability of needing a tick removal card. This is a good video --there's some solid choices made here: a lighter, gorilla tape, write-in-the-rain paper, zip ties...all good choices for any EDC pouch. I'd personally recommedn staying away from single-use, low-probability items, in favour of items that have multiple uses that also have a higher-probability of use. At the very least, videos like this get people thinking about what their own, personal requirements might be; and get them planning and setting the right tools aside.
@iansedc
@iansedc 5 месяцев назад
Thanks for sharing your thoughts my friend. I think you raise a good point. However the tick remover in the U.K is very useful for dog walkers. As stated my friend used it when walking his dog within a week of purchasing. Apparently using tweezers to remove a tick is very dangerous unless you are well practiced. I do take your point. It’s just so small and lightweight that it gets lost in the kit so for now I’m keeping it in. As for the water points etc. that is a great suggestion. It would unlikely fit in the pouch but I can have it loose in the sling. Thank you!

@iansedc exactly, I mean... in the spirit of the law, it shouldn't be illegal as its about the intention. If you have a valid and legal reason then it's legal, theres plenty of legal reasons to have one. Its like a saw isn't it? Technically, its a bladed article, but no one is getting stopped for walking down the street with one.... Nice bit of grey area for the grey matter lol... I think as long as one doesn't try walk in to a court or somewhere else where any bladed article is illegal or where persons are subject to search to be safe.
