I'm a 69 year old woman and my reaction to this cover by Dan is the exact same as yours EVERY TIME. And I've listened to it a lot. Whenever Dan does a cover I can't tolerate the original anymore. He just makes everything better.

His Manowar covers are his best songs imo, but all his songs are great, battle hymn is in his words EPIC. His "Santa claus is coming to town" with orion's reign is awesome if you like Christmas stuff

While I very much enjoy Bruces vocals....Dan Vasc's voice is richer, fuller and more powerful than many singers past and present! He adds the necessary grit to many songs that need it! So I will say it- Dans rendition is better than the original....
Watching you enjoy this song as much as I did was awesome. I've been a fan of Maiden since I first heard them back in the Eighties, so for me, they will always be No.1. BUT Damn, Dan absolutely killed this.
Enjoyed that! I grew up in the 80s and this song was obviously super popular to us metalheads. I'm going to agree with you - I can hear the subtle differences and prefer Dan's version also. Feels more "energetic/electric" IMHO.....Dan always brings it!
Dan's voice tone is so rich that to me, all the originals he covers lose when compared to his performances, not to mention his energy, joy and emotion portrayed in his videos.

Another over the top cover of Dan's is Bring Me To Life! I love Evanescence. I didnt watch this video for a while because I knew the song. When I did I was shocked, in awe, emotional. I can't watch it very often because it is so soul touching. Another one is from Jesus Christ Superstar "Gethsemane". Then there's Heaven is a Place on Earth (Belinda Carlisle) Dan is having so much fun it seems, he has laughing eyes! ALL his power metal songs are killer, gets me pumped!
I won't go as far as saying that the cover is better than the original, but it's certainly no worse. Dan has done covers of other legendary songs like Manowar's Battle Hymn, Shaman's Fairy Tale, Rhapsody's Son of Pain, Nightwish's Last Ride of the Day or Evanescence's Bring Me to Life. Burn Butcher, Burn, Kiss from a Rose and Toss a Coin to Your Witcher are pretty much mandatory, too. Take any order you wish, but save Son of Pain for close to the end. 😉😉🤘
I've never been an Iron Maiden fan, but I love Dan's version of this song. I listened to the original after hearing this one, and don't care for it as well. I've found that to be true of the song Dawn Over A New World, as well. I liked his cover better than the original.

I subbed after listening to & watching your reaction, here. I see that this is two weeks old, so when you did it, you would not have known about Dan's 2023 Christmas offering. I'm wondering if you've heard of it, now. It came out on 12/21, and it's "O Holy Night," but not the typical version of it (though you might think it is, in the beginning). I hope you'll check it out and react to it, also.

Ok, I'll say it for you. Iron Maiden and Bruce Dickinson are legends in their own right. But - Dan and Victor just took this song to a whole other level - and they're just 2 guys, doing their thing, by themselves, without the backing of a whole band, without a producer helping them, and they're even doing this while being on opposite sides of the earth - and succeeding in making it sound better than Iron Maiden's studio version. So if noone else dare saying it, i will - The original was a good hit, but Dan and Victor hit the homerun.
Not bad i like it although i feel dan couldve gone a little harder on the shriek in the beginning its supposed to give a sense of absolute dread and fear regardless the man nailed it pretty well
Cover versions, at the very least, are supposed to do justice to the original. Most are either pure carbon copies or, more likely, extremely inferior. Before I continue I should mention that I have been a die hard Maiden fan since discovering them in the mid 90’s. Dan’s version not only does justice, (in my opinion) it surpasses it
