Hi Verdades que Sanan thank you for the message! I'm glad you found the video helpful! Yes haha and enjoy the music book. I wish you the best. Enjoy your music adventure :)
Love your video! started playing bass clarinet in 69 because they had no saxes left. Now that I have been through life I started back in 93, still going through it been playing Alto mostly although all I played on was tenor, someone gave me a conn about 8 years ago and I replaced the pads. and couldn't get it to play in tune so I put it in the shop, played it with my brothers the other day and I just love the Tenor! Now I decided to practice more. You got a sub!
Hey thanks for the kind words! Thanks for sharing your musical journey! Very interesting how you made the transition from bass clarinet to saxophone. I'm glad you enjoy playing the tenor! I started playing alto in school, but then my music teacher made me switch to tenor because we didn't have enough players. But I'm glad he did. I'm very curious about conn saxes. That's the sax Dexter Gordon played on. He had a great big sound on that! Have a great one and I send you good vibes :)
Hello sir ,great video. pls kindly do a video on how to use a lick in song or melody. As in how to know when and how to fix a lick in a song when performing the song on the saxophone.Thank you
Thank you so much for this practical info. I'm a beginner and having a bit of trouble with the high notes....Do you have any advice please?? Thank you :-)
Hi I'm glad you found the video useful! Sure, with high notes you want to make sure you apply firm pressure on the reed, but make sure you're not pinching the reed. Doing so will prevent the reed from vibrating freely and thus impeding the sound. If it seems like you're pinching the reed, you may need to take in more mouthpiece so that the reed can vibrate. When it comes to embouchure, make sure your lip is out and not tucked in. Keeping your lip out will give you a bigger sound for the high notes. Breathe from your diaphragm, as if you're expanding your stomach to make a huge belly. This will give you strong air support for the high notes. Also, it may help to think you're pronouncing the vowel E (like you're saying "ehhhh") when you're playing the high notes. That will give you the proper embouchure and throat position. I recommend practicing long tones with the higher notes so you get a good feel. Well I hope that helps! Please let me know if you have questions! Happy playing :)
Hi! Yea I use an otto link NY Super Tone Master 7*. It has a .105'' opening. You can find it on amazon with this model number: "Otto Link OLM-404-NY-7S New York Metal Tenor Sax Mouthpiece". As for the reeds, I use d'addario jazz select reeds strength: 3 Soft. I hope that helps! Let me know if you have any more questions :)
