This looks like a lot of fun from a BMXers perspective. I've never seen a bike like this until a few days ago. I was wondering why the handlebars are so curiously forward? How does that help with hopping and stuff?

Often! Thick tubes and specialist trials tyres. A guy I rode with used to run 2 tubes in his rear and swapped to the other when one punctured! Also, there's a Wilkos (or was) 3 min walk from that spot for cheap tube replacements
