Okay, this video had technical difficulties -i.e. me bumping the camera, the camera falling off the tripod stand. And a part 2. Sigh. Part 2 shows better how to attach the template to the ruler.
The point is that templates are easier than you think. Press your fabric using a starch alternative, cut strips the height of you template, Print templates using 100% or actual size. Print two copies. Cut templates out using the ruler 1/4" line touching the 1/4" line on the template. Use two rulers and tape the template right side up on the back of the rulers, the edge of the ruler being the long side.
