Don't Listen to the Demon 

Watching this with good headphones and i feel uncomfortable with the demon ;;

Wow, that demon voice was triggering. No joke, that made my anxiety shoot through the roof for a few minutes.

If ever I''m in a dark place mentally, my "Angel" will always say: "Things always end up ok in the end, if it's not ok now, then its not the end." This always helps me and I listen to it.

I know i'm 6 years late, but thank you for this - this message is needed in the world and thank you for providing it! 💜

This video has really helped me through a lot I've been struggling for years with low self-esteem, anxiety, depression, untreated ADHD, and PTSD there would be days that I'd never want to get out of bed or do things I love like writing and playing video games instead turned to to stuffing myself with food for comfort. I gained a lot of weight which made me an easy target for bullying, destroying any remaining confidence I had left. I would lock myself in my room just asking "Why me?" and that's when I fell into a deep depression listening to the voices in my head telling that everything was my fault, I let HIM take advantage of my innocence and touch me for nearly 5 years, I was the reason my parents NEVER knew about it, I was the reason my siblings were afraid of me, and I was just nothing but a horrible daughter a monster of a sister and a freak at school. I think finally telling my parents had made things worst, because now they felt like they were horrible parents for never figuring it out which added more guilt onto me. I had reached my breaking point when I girl a grade older than started posting pictures of me without my consent and everyone made fun of my appearance. I came up with a plan to end my life in my house in the bathtub, my mom found out about and decided to put me in therapy. I hated going, because going to therapy meant that I was insane and a crazy person, but after a while I slowly opened up more and thanks to my therapist I've realized that none of these events were my fault, I was a child and he should've known better. I'm currently in high school now 17 and putting myself into clubs, and recently started group therapy

I needed this, I am in one of my lowest points, always giving people help, always being pushed away, a few months ago, I experienced the death of my grandpa, I saw everything, I was about an inch from grabbing the knife and, well, you already know the rest. I'll never forget him, I've been on this Earth 13 years, and I've already been through hell and back, all my life has been it feels is just a constant battle with myself, a never ending struggle with a power over me I cannot comprehend. I just want an escape sometimes, from the people in my life, the bullies, the people who have pushed me to the edge. I never want to hear another person say "You have such a good life, why are you so sad. " I'll never understand why someone would say that, and I'm done caring, I believe I deserve a little more respect than being told "you have too good a life to be depressed. " I'm done putting others before me. I'm done listening to the voice in my head telling me I'm a dissapoinment, that I should just kill myself because no one would care. This video literally made me burst into tears because I feel like I’m not optimistic at all and I’m only thirteen. I haven’t been like myself ever since I was diagnosed with moderate anxiety last year. I jut want to feel normal like I used to be. I just want my demon to go away but my parents just tell me “Just don’t think like that” but that’s not how it works and my mom refuses to get me a therapist. BecUse of that my Anxiety is getting worse every day and I feel like it’s taking over my life.

My gosh, I love this video. I love it so so much. Idk if you’ll see this comment after all these years, but thank you so much for making this. I’m someone who has felt like they’re being slowly crushed by their demon at times, constantly having to bat them away at every turn…and when I listen to my angel? I get called ignorant and quickly dismissed. It’s been…exhausting. Hearing someone else, especially someone with your platform, voice the things so confidently that I’ve been telling myself to stay afloat felt SO validating! I guess I already knew that it was okay to listen to my angel, to be an optimist…but you _proved_ it. So thank you, from the bottom of my heart. I wish you every happiness.

I love this video because it points out the obvious, yet were so wrapped up in our thoughts and the emotions in our everyday life that really never really think about it. Everyone has low self esteem at one point or another especially boys, but we think it will make us look weak so we just put on a mask and let it just drag you down. This is exactly what I needed to hear right now so thank you Rebeca. Also you remind me of my family, not just one person but my whole family so it gives me comfort to hear you say that. The most spot on explanation one these situations I have ever heard. Love your videos💕💕💕 The demon I have faced my whole life is the one that goes for my ADHD personality. But my demons were also external in my parents pushing me to take medication cause is made me less talkative, less hyper, and easier to raise as well as telling me I can’t be myself cause not everyone will understand. Along with the bullies in middle school and even now at my current job my coworkers will mock me on occasion and see me as a joke and will make jokes about how loud I am and bring up all these new insecurities I didn’t even know I had.

becca, i really appreciate your explanation. I really appreciate you in general, you make my day better every time i watch one of your videos. but for me, its not that easy to stop listening. I know that everything it tells me is a lie, but it still lingers at the back of my mind, like that one guy that won't leave after a house party. Thank you for your words, your explanation, thank you for your reasons and i believe every single one of them. but the demon just won't shut up and i can't help but repress everything it has to say only for it to spring back again at a later date, it doesn't help that my parents only fuel the beast and it hurts all the more, because it's coming from the people who are supposed to love me. I try my hardest to listen to the angel, to believe in myself, my accomplishments and basic human decency. Sometimes it works. sometimes it doesn't. But I have amazing friends and the most wonderful partner to turn to when the demon gets too loud. I thank them every day and I am so grateful for them all. 7 years late but I still have something to say. Since I was in 3th grade, the demon on my shoulder has gotten bigger then I ever believed it would. It was constantly nagging my brain and it made it hard for me to learn. On top of that I was in a toxic friendship and couldn’t get out of it. After a while I realized that the demon wasn’t me, and that all my friends didn’t hate me or that I was bad at everything. I started being myself and actually found my place. I know the demon will always be there, but that’s ok, everyone has a demon.
