That advice is coming from 👑 the king of excellence on a budget. Being budget friendly is not just about getting inexpensive gear, but getting a more pricey one for the sake of durability and reliability, having a piece of mind that the gear you got, you are going to set it and forget it, because you don’t know when and how much is gonna be your next budget 💰🤑
@RylandRussell
@RylandRussell 2 года назад
Haha! So true. I believe in the law of diminishing returns though, sometimes you get to a price point where a $1500 dollar hazer is not that far from the $6000 hazer. idk.

Excellent video and love the switch at the start. I have the Z350 but haven't used it enough to know which setts are best. Thinking low output and a high fan but not sure if I need another fan to push it even further. Would you say for a space like what is shown at the start you'd need one or two (Z350s in this case)?

If continuously is still too cloudy - write a two step chase on your console as a timer like one minute on, 5 minutes off.

I've had great success with a CHAUVET DJ Hurricane Haze 1DX. Even though it's only a $300 hazer, when paired with a good fan and put in the right location, along with good technique in haze amount & timing, it can be used to create a great haze. I've used it in my church's youth room and main sanctuary for lots of events, and have been able to get a solid haze nearly every time. Just wanted to throw it out there that great results can be achieved with a low budget hazer, if you're willing to finagle it a bit.
@RylandRussell

Nice! What kind of haze fluid?

Also, my chauvet amhaze had to be repaired twice. You have any issues yet with the hurricane?

@@RylandRussell custom haze fluid actually. $4 bottle of glycerin + distilled water. Cheapest option out there XD. And no issues so far with the Hurricane 1DX. Have had it for about 6 months.

Just a single one? We have two we used to use, now we don't use any, but I'm thinking about trying to bring it back, but one of them has a blown heating element.
@drewthetechy
@drewthetechy Год назад
@@benjamin.kelley A single one has worked fine for me in a room that seats ~500. Pair it with a good fan and have the AC running. Also be sure to test it with no one in the room to make sure you don't set off fire alarms.

Hey! I noticed you guys are still using the ULX mics. If a receiver or mic died would you still would you replace it (if it was just one or the other and not both) or swap out for digital? I know the ULX and SLX are discontinued and trying to figure out which way to go. Thanks
@RylandRussell
@RylandRussell 2 года назад
I did replace a mic with another ulx last year. But honestly I'm not sure what system I would go with currently to replace them! We do have a couple new Sennheiser EW-D 835-S units in our Venue and have been happy with those.

Technically the MDG and the pea soup are also oil based they use CO2 as the means of air pressure. Whereas the DF 50 is oil based but uses an air compressor which can be noisy in quiet environments. Just thought I would throw that into the conversation. I’ve used the American DJ his generator for many many years and used basic medical grade mineral oil which has produced comparable results to the DF 50 at a fraction of the price. The only oil mess that I have is on the hazel itself and the fan I use to distribute. Other than that the residue buildup is pretty minimal.

If you want to go ont he road with your hazer then take in mind that lots of places don't accept oil based hazers anymore. They are fed up with having to clean oil residu extensively every year.

We have the MTARI (whatever its called) in our Youth building and I'm not receiving the results I want. The haze don't cover the stage very well and I don't know where a good positioning spot is for it. The haze likes to travel more towards the congregation so I don't know if I should re adjust or have it on a higher platform, any tips?
@RylandRussell
@RylandRussell 2 года назад
Man every room is different. I feel like HVAC plays a big part in the way the haze moves. I'd just try different positions and fan combos. Low haze output, higher fan volume, starting earlier to let it disperse and fill the room more.
@stevewitwicki3366
@stevewitwicki3366 Год назад
Don't have haze nor do we have any moving fixtures yet. Guessing that 1) haze doesn't make much sense without the moving fixtures? 2) I get that you need to experiment to see how long it takes to build the haze and then also time the interval to disperse it before the message, but I'm wondering-if you have musical segments of the service after the message (like communion or a "send" type closing tune), do you run haze again (and calculate how much time you need to get back up to full capacity) or not run it at all after the opening set?
@RylandRussell
@RylandRussell Год назад
1. Correct! Only if you have beams. 2. Not typically for exit songs unless it’s something special.

Using the Antari Z-350 still trying to find out the best length of time to run it to achieve the look i want. The church is 100% on board with using it so I dont get many chances to really try it out
@RylandRussell
@RylandRussell 2 года назад
Nice! I've always heard great things about that one. I usually try low haze output with high fan speed. Seems to be finer haze that way.
@elimahaffey1351

We have the same hazer at our church! We have a black Lasko box fan to disperse the haze. We use the Froggy's Fog swamp juice, and that gives us a nice even haze after about 10 minutes on full. After the room is full and even, I leave the hazer on 35% for the rest of the morning.
