I think vocabulary is what matters the most when it comes to reaching a high level of English. You can perfectly neglect pronunciation in my opinion, it's the less important aspect of the English language given the fact that there are so many different accents around the world that are considered "native". About grammar, there comes a point where you have pretty much learned it all and you're probably still B2. But vocabulary, meaning idioms, phrasal verbs, slang, prepositions and so on and so forth, you never stop learning them!
On the other hand, given that one speaks hard 'Slavglish', 'Doyglish', 'Indlish', 'Nipponglish' or another way of mispronouncing English with an insufficient number of vowels or sometimes consonants, a lot of words distinguishable under normal conditions either become homonyms or are incomprehensible for other people...
@@heinrich.hitzinger that's true, but I meant that you don't have to have a perfect accent in order to speak fluent English. You can have an accent, as long as people can understand what you say. You don't need to be so hard on you if you don't sound like a native speaker. That was my point.
Eu sou brasileiro e você é um dos melhores professores de inglês no RU-vid, parabéns ... I'm from Brazil and you are one of the best English teachers on RU-vid, congratulations.

When learning English, I find that Grammar and pronouciation matter the most. Thank you brave teacher ☺️ From Tunisia 🇹🇳
I won't use _"I don't mind"_ as an answer to my gfs q on whether we should do this, or that, bc to me it feels like I'd be saying _"there's no problem"_ (as you confirmed). Thereby insinuating that 'my gf asking me sth' could possibly *be* a problem - which obviously would be ridiculous bc she can ask me anything, the more the better, I can't get enough of her Up till now I always used _"I don't care"_ , bc although my gf obviously is super important, I most often genuinely have no interest in *the choice* - both options are equally okay with me. But for some unfathomable reason she still finds my _"I don't care"_ rude and inconsiderate and pointed me to your video for explanation Thankfully, you give me a third option that I had never even thought of before. I will use the 'incorrect' _"I don't matter"_ from now on bc, after all, who am I in the presence of my gf?? I'm sure it'll enrage her to no end when I use this!! 🤭 😂
Thank you Aly! Grammar and pronounciation matter equally for me. We know that studying grammar is annoying sometimes but when we write and speak without knowing where collocate the words, it sounds confusing. Pronunciation can help others to understand us more easily. Have a great evening!
Based on my experience after living in an English speaking country - the clarity (plus a bit of correct pronunciation) is paramount. BTW your lessons rock!
And let me increase one thing here. I am addicted to your videos and so grateful for your work. You make me thrilled to learn English. Without mention, I am fascinated by the British accent.
What matters the most for me when I'm learning english is the grammar. I'm in London for 4 months and I'm trying to learn the most that I can. Unfortunately some days I struggle more than others, but I'm making all the efforts to know more each day, and you have being a big help for me. I really mind if you stop posting videos. Thank you :D
Yippee! I knew it! 😎 I'm buzzing!😁 I care a lot about learning English, but I don't mind whatever will be the next lesson subject, everything is super helpful! Thanks teacher for all your great work, it really matter!🌻
For me, both of them matters. I am not a English native speaker, so if I have bad pronunciation, my English will be unnatural and without accurate grammar it sounds unprofessional. Thank you for your lesson. I find it very helpful and memorable.
I think that in order to define what matters when learning English, you have to set a goal and know your level. If it’s upper-intermediate then vocabulary matters as on this level it’s supposed that you have already known Grammar and endeavor to get fluency in Speaking. So everything is about your intention. As for me, it’s fluency when talking to someone and the barrier is not the fear to talk but Vocabulary and thoughts expression in English as it’s tough when you are not a native.
Super useful! When it comes to learning English I honestly think motivation is what matters the most 💪. Sure, pronunciation, grammar, cultural knowledge are highly-relevant factors for the learning process. It's not like you shouldn't care about them. I'd even venture to say pronunciation plays the most important role. The nearer your pronunciation skills are to those of a native speaker, the higher people will think of you, and the more respected and integrated you will feel, which encourages to keep improving. It's all about becoming one of their team 👥. It doesn't matter if you make more or less grammar mistakes, so do native speakers! However, if you are not engaged enough, motivated enough to go and take action, that is, giving English a life in your life, it doesn't matter at all how excellent your grammar or pronunciation skills are. You are not enjoying your learning process 💔. And at the end of the day, that's in fact what matters the most. Well, well. It seems I have already used all three expressions taught in this lesson. Now I wouldn't mind getting a little heart 😂 Keep it up, Aly! 👏
In my opinion, what really matters is the ability to switch from - let's say - a high register to a more idiomatic or slang one, instead of always being "neutral" or standard because you just don't know how to add more colour to what you're saying 😅 and that's actually how I feel about English. I'm pretty confident with my grammar but I always feel boring when I'm talking to someone or writing. This videos of yours are helping me with situation and vocabulary skills
good and exact explanation matters the most in learning anything, including languages. people mind to understand and be understood. for this purpose we must care all the aspects of the language, pronunciation, grammar, words and of course culture and traditions of the people we want to communicate. it's also important to give the right amount of new information for the students, so that the person can proceed it. Your lessons are great.
I'm a fan of your RU-vid channel. You're a great teacher and I'm sure that all English students learn a lot from your lessons. In my opinion, I don't think that pronunciation is important. I think that learning vocabulary is the most important thing when we are learning a foreign language. Thanks for your lessons.
For me what matters the most when learning English is to be disciplined and practice a lot with other people, watching videos that help to improve your listening and speaking skills.
For me the things more important are Pronunciation, listening and reading. Of course the process of learning a language is a whole, each part has some of importance.
I think it depends what you need in the moment! If you’re in a country that speaks the new language you need to improve your speaking first. But, if you don’t live in foreign country and you don’t need to speak the language in that moment you should improve your grammar. But, is it possible speaking without knowing the grammar?
I've trying to learn just hearing another peoples talking and through I not perfect yet, I feel like I been improving faster than before. I hope that you can understand what I said.
I understood. I’m not fluent yet, but I’m always practicing. The process to learn a new language it’s hard. Take your time. Do some effort. Eventually will happen. By the way, today it will have live here in the channel. 12:00 (midday, Brazil time)
I think vocabulary and pronunciation really matters when you try to connect with native speaker, but for me grammar matters the most in learning English. And thank you SO much Ally, we love you 💚
I always try to be grammatically correct. l like British accent and learning to improve my pronunciation with British accents. Your classes help me a lot. Thank you.
Great video, just what I needed! Vocabulary is also important, you can know where and how to put every word in a paragraph and pronounce them correctly but you need a good vocabulary to really speak like a native. What matter the most? All of them of course, you need every component to be understood in a conversation, otherwise the communication won't be carried out
I would like to improve my speaking skills. While speaking I feel a barrier. This video is a great one! I like his British dialect and how he pronounces it...
Thank you so much! It's really matter for me! I give my priority to spoken English. If you cannot speak it doesn't matter how is your knowledge huge. However i don't mind sounding like a British, so pronunciation as well is the matter for me. I have to confess that i don't care about grammar even it is important... Thank you
In my opinion the pronunciation is very important thing about English)) But grammar is absolutely necessary if you want to sound correct)) It's my the biggest dream to know it all,all these tenses and conditionals...)
Well, it depends. I always thought that vocabulary is the key. Even if you don't know how to pronunciate some word you still will be understand. On the other hand when you have to learn for exam for exaple you need grammar. That's the part of english language I hate the most. Despite all videos and books it's still confusing for me :(
When we learn English or any language we must to learn everything pronunciation and grammer and then learn more vocabulary and it's important to learn slang in English it would makes your English better to speak like native speakers and understand them, and thank you
Hey dear papa Huge thanks for the upload To answer the final asked question ... I must say well they both matter when it comes to English , Fluent pornounciation helps people underestand you and correct grammer is also effective for a better underestanding . It's like you need both and they both should be cared about equally but maybe , Pornounciation matters a little bit more than grammer , As we see there are lots of people out there , unable to speak in right grammer but you can get what they mean however its not easy without a reasonable structure . And consider a forigener who knows a bit of grammer but can't make a sentence with well- pronounced words so the probability of others getting what this person is saying may be less than the first situation . And thers is one more point ; learning grammer is more difficult rather than pornounciation . listening to musics and watching movies may help you get your pornounciation fixed but to learn grammer you must practice harder . Thats why you need to mind grammer a bit more !
I think listening to native speakers is most important. If we spent years learning vocabulary and grammar we might can Express ourselves, what we want to say but will never understand English without listening
To 'Shall we go get some food?' Can I use 'not fussed' or 'not bothered' instead of 'I don't mind'? Does it have the same meaning? (yep, I saw your video '5 useful expression')
Thanks a lot for all your videos, they're so useful 😊 I am asking myself : why didn't I have at high school a teacher like u? I think that it's important to have a good grammar, but what matters the most for me is the vocabulary and phrasal verbs (they literally opened me a world). Many thanks again 😊😊🌹
Learn English with Papa Teach Me I’m Unrial! I messaged you yesterday by Twitch. I think I won’t pass the CAE, but you really helped me for the writing part, so really thank you for your help!
Hi, I have enjoyed learning the language with you sir. So concerning your question, what matters the most? I would choose pronunciation rather than grammar because gramar comes through speaking the language correctly 😊 thanks for your effort.
please Aly 😍 I wonder if u could do a video about words that have no plural in English I really got confused about them I heard lots of people saying that both of the word avice and idea and information have no plural
Hi Papa! What a great video! Thank you! I just found your channel today, a bit late but I think it's better then never found it,right?! I got more interested in learning English lately, and I believe your channel will help me well. Answering your question, I guess when it's speaking situation pronunciation is more important than grammar but in writing grammar is more important. Please correct me if I'm wrong. Thank you.
Hi sir, i think what really matters is structuring the English sentence because once knowing how to build sentences, moving from one to another and being familiar with collocation and expressions , all other skills will be understandable. The problem is that our teachers didn't teach us this basic skill very well, that's why i always have to go back to the rules when writing and i know that i've done many mistakes while writing this comment.
I think the most important thing is the pronunciation what the matter to know a lot of words if no one can understand you and if you have no idea how to pronounce words you want to understand a lot of stuff so all your huge vocabulary would be in the passive
I do love your vlog, as you explaine English so detailed. Besides, your teaching methode by drawing people, is quite helpfull, and I can perfectly understand. Thank you so much. You're the best teacher ever.
I had just gotten "keberatan" (mind) in english from Harry Potter film 'the philosopher stone.' That is: "Now, if you two don't mind, I'm going to bed, before either of you come up with another clever idea to get us killed.. or worse, expelled" Harmione avoids the bad possibility. Cause it doesnt exist in dictionary indonesian-english "keberatan"
I think that today, for me, grammar is the one that matter most. But a little bit of concern about pronunciation is good, though... I recently watched a video from a folk who was Ucranian, and was quite hard to understand him, no matter how good his vocabulary was.
I think the matters most in learning English is vocabulary. Less vocabulary makes us no idea to talk and keep passive.😔 The second is grammar. Sometimes grammar make us confused.
brother, really great going! Exceptional teaching method. I am learning a lot everyday. Bye the way, I have a doubt. why do u people use the words super common, super useful, super interesting, super funny, etc. kindly teach. thanks in advance.
I guess, using English or other foreign languages matters most when you study it. Because even if you know grammar or can read fluently no one would ever know about it till you start use it on a regular bases. ^_^
As a second language English teacher I think both pronunciation and Grammar matter.. I teach my students what to say and how to say it all at the same time. I mean students pick up their teacher's accent or pronunciation of different words.
