i bought some in europ now on sale ...started with ultra center and bookshelve ultra and a marantz50 cinema... and now im just buying more as i go...got the Ultra towers also didnt regret is at allll sounds greath even bass in movies is ok for small rooms (full range on all speakers ) .... next up are surround backs ... and then for the seiling i do want to go for the new line ultra sealings. and i got 2 amps planned already also hahah comming from a bosse surround system like the old days before soundbars... its a totaly diffrent game, well worth it as they can last sevral years ...
I happened to buy a pair of the Ultra Bookshelf speakers back in mid-January for the original price of $600 each. A week or so later I noticed a $424 "credit voucher" in my bank account, from SVS. Didn't know what it was about until I went to their site, saw the clearance sale notifications, and realized they must have given me back the difference between my original purchase price and the sale price. Nice!
Stop! I can't keep buying SVS Ultras! I have too many! Surrounds, elevations, subs... But they ARE great! Very happy. No. Not one more Randy. No! Thank you for getting me started with the SVS system. Love them.
SVS Ultra Bookshelves are my favorite, was lucky enough to buy a pair used. They remain my favorite while I have: ELAC Uni-Fi 2.0 UB52 UBR62 Klipsch RP-160m RP-500m II RP-600m RP-600m II I wish SVS had a bigger discount. I have seen them on sale for this clearance price before. I cannot wait to see how their new line stacks up to the higher end. Like a shootout between SVS and the CSS Typhon My high water mark remains $717 for The Elac UBR62 Cructhfield Scratch and Dent I remain stuck wanting the next step versus identifying good value and identifying diminishing returns :)
Trippy clicking on this video to have the center and bookshelf speakers currently here on my computer desk staring at me from real life and RU-vid. They really are amazing though. If I were redoing my home theater setup right now i'd 100% go for the 8" cone towers and another pair of these bookshelves, but I'll have to sell some kidneys whenever that happens and try out their new top tier that you mentioned.
@399 for the pair, that would be a great deal and certainly would fall into the affordable category, but not $800 and this is something Randy fails to mention. Why? Because $800 for a pair of bookshelf speakers would be considered expensive by most people's standards, especially in this day and age where costs are rising, but many salaries aren't increasing to match. But, as I keep saying is that Randy should put his expensive reviews in a separate channel and not put them here, which is misleading to his subscribers.
I paid the full price but super happy I did love my SVS ultras. Recently got a denon 3800 on sale. Sounds amazing but I wonder if an amp would make it better
I loved your older videos. I thought they were great. I too bought the Primes based largely on your recommendation. I absolutely love those speakers. They're magic. You're right though, for only $200 more, the Ultras are a no brainer if you can swing it.
I'm pretty new to the channel but mannnn i love watching your vids! I love the way you talk about the speakers, the way they sound and your descriptions! I'm not really into the hifi stuff too much, car audio is more my thing but I absolutely love the info and the way you give it here. I wish there was someone that would do this sort of thing for car audio, of course it wouldn't be the same. Thank you for what you do!
My Ultra Bookshelf speakers are my end-game speakers and can thoroughly recommend them. Even more so at a discounted price. ( can I get a refund? 😂) I would love that center channel speaker, but just got a Wharfedale, so I will have to pass, unfortunately. Thanks for the heads-up and great info.
Sweet deal. A few weeks ago I ordered the SVS primes. Last week I scored a pair Ultra Bookshelves on the SVS outlet for $698. Not a blemish or scratch. So much better. Love the black oak veneer. The Primes are going back.
Great deal! If you want to, you should review the Fritz Carbon 7 Mkll. The guy had been making them for decades and they are OUTSTANDING! Very little crossover parts, which is unique. He direct markets, so you don’t pay astronomical prices. Crazy value audio. Anyway, my two cents for the day.
I've heard a lot of typically great adjectives to describe the Ultras, but if one parses the praise carefully, one is left with the impression that they might be a little hard at higher sound pressures, and/or smile shaped.
I have emotiva t2+ towers and emotiva c2+ and 2 rsl 12s subs, they discontinued the line of bookshelf speakers, and I'm curious what I could use for back surrounds. Thanks, keep up the good work
I just bought my 2nd pair of Ultra bookshelf speakers (beautiful gloss white) for $765 (Kansas sales taxes included). A stone-cold bargain for what ya get.
I have the ultra book shelfs and would love the ultra center but about 12 months ago they wacked the price up so out of my price range now. Interesting tho as to why there being discontinued. I thought they were a very cucessfull speaker so yeah so strange. But anyway i have being enjoing my ultra book shelfs they are everything i expected from all the reviews.
Oh man! I've been so stupid! I've had my computer and speakers over in one corner of a small open room with the sub under the desk. Just got some long speaker cables and set them about 5 ft apart on shelves at ear level. The room is filled! I was wondering why my sound wasn't balanced! I'm sitting much further away too, about 8 ft instead of 2 ft!
Ok, now for the conundrum, I have a Ultra Center and still have Elac Debut 5.2 for my front LR. I was debating replacing the Elacs with Ultra bookshelves or the Pinnacle Towers and now I have to add the new Ultra bookshelves to the mix. Any advice ?
I've been looking long and hard at these SVS Ultra bookshelves. Can you characterize the sound? My biggest fear: bloat and boom in the mid-bass. I've heard some highly-regarded and well-reviewed speakers that sound boomy to me. A bit of "air" at the top, without edginess, would be nice. Can they play loud?
Currently running a desktop setup with a pair of Sony SSCS5, a SVS SB1000 Pro, and Schitt Modi & Magni stack. Right now my setup is okay - loudness is a bit limited but I've been wanting to upgrade my speakers and these SVS Ultra bookshelves sound tempting. Do you guys think I'll need to upgrade my Modi & Magni stack to properly power these?
Shame the center channel is barely discounted. That’s the only one I’d be interested in. The bi-poles are 400$ a piece, and you can get the klipsch RP versions for like 400$ a pair. 🤷🏻♂️
Can someone pls help. Ive heard so much great thing about the elacs dbr62 here on this channel. But newer videos say the heco aurora 300 are better or is it just a taste thing? Its not possible for me to hear them both live
So they are on sale for what they should be sold for in the first place? Sweet, lol. Honestly, once SVS raised their prices, I stopped buying from them. Same with Emotiva. If I am going to pay these prices, then there are better options.
The WAF means nothing to me anymore. I’ve paid my dues. I keep things neat and clean so if I want a behemoth subwoofer (or four) in my house, I’m getting four of those beasts. I keep the vehicle radio turned down but in my theater room I’m raising that volume until your dental fillings fall out if I want. No sir, from now on it’s the HAF and I accept just about anything. The bigger the better.
Newbie here looking to make my first purchase. Starting with bookshelf speakers...later to be paired with Fosi ZA3 amp QUESTION.....thoughts on SVS Ultra bookshlf vs. Heco Aurora 300? Both around the same price. Hearing good reviews on both. Thanks to anyone for the guidance. Thanks Randy
@Randy You are definitely liking your pricey speakers of late. I get it, you have been bitten by the higher priced audio bug. Now, I am not going to say what I usually do, but on the contrary, I would like to offer something up to the table of which I deemed a possible good value, something along the lines of the good deal that you presented a while back on those Wharfdale tower speakers for $750 for the pair. While I do consider that expensive, it is a deal. Wharfdale is a brand I hold in high regard as Klipsch. Well, I had come across a company called Zu Audio, and they make very high end, pricey stuff. Stuff that I would never consider...until now. While mostly making floor standing speakers, they now offer a, fairly large, stand speaker. What caught my interest here is that the main driver is a 10" full range speaker that goes from around 38hz to 12k and then a super tweeter does the rest of the high end to inaudibility. The speaker boasts no crossover, save for a single filter on the super tweeter. It also boasts a 95db 1w/1m spl rating. So it is great for small amps. Now, I know most here would cringe at the starting price of $1398. However, I came across a viewer that said these speakers sound as good as Klipsch Forte. So given that a new pair of Fortes are over $3000, I would say this is a good deal. It certainly is bringing something substantial to the table than an $800 pair of bookshelf speakers with only a 6.5 inch woofer with an 87db sensitivity. In short, if you reviewed the Zu DWX, especially if you compared them to your friends Klipsch Cornwalls, That would be something I would be interested in. Just my 2 cents if you are looking at a worthwhile pricey speaker to review.
Randy, you beautiful temptress… I don’t have an issue with your use of the case of tp, except the part where it’s upside down, what an amateur 😂 jk, keep it up (side down)
