In this video I demonstrate how to gently remove excess mulch to uncover the crown of a sedge grass. These beautiful ornamentals are not actually grass and can thrive in shady places that every actual grass will struggle and fail. This one happens to be under a huge Oak tree. The owner did a great job of replacing his dying grass with Sedges and other shade loving plants that will do much better in the space. It looks very modern and has some pollinator friendly plants mixed in that gives it a nice pop and a ton of curb appeal! Mulching does a great job of cutting down on weeds and helps with moisture retention. It also gives it a really clean look and ties it all together. So mulching is a must! Just remember to take care that you don't have it piled up on top of or up against the base of your plants. None of them will like that!
