Love the Alberta Cask strength rye. New pickup for me. Was highlighted on the SLB channel as well and I ran out to grab it!

Nice concept! Dad's Hat ... didn't think that Pennsylvania rye made it out west (assuming west)

We don’t get a ton of it, but we do see some of their releases around California!

Just bought the Remus Repeal Batch 7. K&L Wines has it for about $74, so I picked it up. Picked up some Old Soul Small batch with it. Pretty good for a neck pour. Wanted to try their basic stuff before moving to their Single Barrel. Surprise it was available on the west coast. Blue Note Juke Joint Uncut has been a repeated pour for me in the last few weeks. I would say it's very balanced compared to the other stuff I have.😅

Great pickups! We want to try more Blue Note but haven’t seen it locally yet. Cheers! 🥃

Check out Stranahan's if you want to explore ASM. They have cask strength offerings along with finishes and very good stuff.

@@TheWhiskeyBreak You can always hit me up for a sample from the Eureka cask strength store pick I have. They have a cool origin story, too.

Cool to hear you review some less-talked-about pours. Have you tried Journeyman Corsets, Whips, and Whiskey? It's a cask strength wheat whiskey. I was surprised how much I liked it. When Remus VI came out, a bunch of whiskeytubers reviewed it and said, "it's good, but it's no Remus V." Then several of them blinded it and most of them preferred it to V. I just bought a VII and it's good, but ironically, I think Penelope might do a better job with MGP than MGP (Ross & Squibb) does with Remus in that price range. YMMV.

We haven’t tried anything from Journeyman yet, but it’s always piqued our interest. Thanks for the recommendation! We’ll have to check it out. Cool to hear your thoughts on Remus vs Penelope. We haven’t tried much from Penelope but we’ve heard good things.

Not to be Debbie Downer, but Sagamore Bottled in Bond is Sagamore's worst offering, in my opinion. I LOVE Sagamore (I have more bottles from them than any other distillery), but this one has never grown on me. I would recommend (in order) the 8 Year, the Double Oak, the Armagnac Finish, the Manhattan Finish, the Rum Cask Finish, the Sherry Finish, the Cask Strength, and THEN the Bottled in Bond. Never had the Tequila Finish, but interested in it!

Hard disagree. Their own distillate better highlights the kind of fruity jolly rancher notes that stick out in some of their other releases. I also really enjoy the sherry finish & cask strength (which newer, better versions incorporate some of their own distillate). Manhattan finish is decent & interesting but a little too much vermouth influence IMO. Haven't had the 8 year but have a couple 7 year store picks and leans too much in the herbal MGP profile for me. Double Oak is ok but I'm not the biggest double oaked person to begin with. I love armagnac and armagnac finished whiskey, so I'm sure I would love that. Their distillery exclusive finishes seem to be the most special things they offer, like the port, mead, vino de naranja, maple cask, etc. The BIB is among the better ryes for those who likes a fruitier profile IMO, and I'm always happy to see less MGP and more unique distillates.

Always fun to see how everyone’s palates differ! Their new distillate has really impressed us, and we love fruitier ryes. Sounds like our tastes line up with Dylan’s a bit more, but cheers all around!

@@dneuens I wish I got the fruity notes you're referencing in the BiB. I keep trying it in hopes of it opening up for me, but no luck so far. I do really like their Cask Strength - I ranked it low mostly because I haven't had it since I finished my bottle a while ago. All the others I currently have on the shelf. I do like that they're creating their own stuff now; I try not to buy sub-100 proof stuff anymore, but I may have to get the Small Batch now that it's all them.

@@ssbn401 Dang. I wonder if it's maybe a bit batch-y. I have the 6 year BIB, so perhaps you have the 4 or 5 year version? They're about to come out with a 7 year BIB, too. That's really great to see as their distillate ages. If you're around SoCal, I could always hook up you with a sample.

@@dneuens - I just looked - I have the 6 year as well. Who knows...maybe it just didn't land for me with this bottle. I never give up on Sagamore, though - I didn't like the Rum Cask Finish at all when I first bought it, but now I really like it. Maybe I just have to warm up to it! (Appreciate the sample offer - I'm in the Chicago area, though!)
