Thanks coach. I've been ignoring my minor rotator cuff problem for the last 8 years like most idiots, but when my GF went to PT with her problem, which she never ignores, I tried her rehab exercises with bands and pink dumbells, and believe it or not after a week or so my shoulder felt better. I also do the Hughston static exercises, active bar hangs, sleep on my back, and drink beer with my other arm. I started doing barbell benches instead of overheads out of the rack to put less stress on the shoulder. I got serious about this when my GF told me one of her friends needed rotator surgery from slouching in front of a computer for hours and it still hasn't healed after 4 months.

Subbed bro. I watch a lot of youtubers for lifting and health and stuff but never actually thought doing that punch was bad. I do it all the time thinking it would work my pecs a little more😄 Anyway I enjoy finding new people to watch so glad I found you mate

MURDEROUS MAYHEM the punch at the end work the serratus anterior(boxer) muscles, which protract the scapula, so still useful, just not during the bench press. Lol I also enjoyed watching this very informative video.

Thanks for this video! I have been watching videos of my form and was worried about the slight horizontal movement in the Bench Press. It felt natural, but I thought it was a "problem I have to fix". I'm glad to know that part is okay. Of course, there are a million other form issues to work on, but nothing some coaching and a few hundred sets of five won't help with. Hah!

Interestingly, I totally missed the point about *why* we can't bench press with upper arms at 90° to the torso at the bottom when I first watched this. I've recently moved to an angle of about 50° and I'm not getting problems with my elbows (and the lift feels easier).

Only have a Smith Machine for benching at my gym, so I can't do the correct form as on a regular bench. So should I just do dumbbells bench presses for chest exercise? Is there a correct form use of the Smith Machine Bench?

Well it's hard to argue with that. In fact, it's IMPOSSIBLE to argue with that, since you provide no argument, no data, no examples, no experience, nothing at all except your empty, unsubstantiated opinion. Without punctuation. Got anything else? Like, at least a period at the end of your grunted, two-word, mere assertion? If not, go sniff some beef. At least in that regard, we have some minimal evidence that you're qualified. We don't mind contrary opinions here--we get them all the time and we love to argue about training. That's how we learn. But if you come into our house with opinions and accuse us of bad coaching, well, you'd better bring something to back them up besides sentence fragments and attitude, because otherwise we're just going to dismiss you for the fool you are. Trolls need not apply.
