Father reads many newspaper magazine he knows lot of information he's better than upsc students. Should read newspaper from your heart. If you really concern about India and foreign countries unlike studying for exam you can remember for long time. Learnt from my grand parents.
Newspaper ko analyse karne ke liye bhi skills develop karni padti hain par. Paper me likha sab maan lena is not being knowledgeable. Your parents must be very knowledgeable but there is a lot more to a UPSC student or tbh anybody preparing for an interview test of high level.
Indeed hardwork matters but luck matters the most.. and upsc field me to luck bohut jyada hi matter krta hai bcoz koi bhi insaan upsc ka full syllabus cover nahi kar sakta.. abhi kuch immature Gyan denge smart work ka .. smart work bolke koi chiz hai hi nahi .. bas toppers ka feku idea hota hai .. Bas apne karma pe dhyan do and results bhagwan ke hath me chor do qki wo humare hath me nahi hai ..

Its not humanly possible to read and revise everything This exam is also similar to other examinations where we used to cover important stuffs and rest apply your own mind Yes but in important things there should be absolute clarity And yes upsc is more about decision taking ability in stressful situations (Pre - Limited time ) and Communication ability in limited worlds (Mains limited time and space) Hence the most knowledgeable will not get selected but someone can deliver can with less knowledge
