Partner with is also a may ability, so Jerry could have just declined to search. Still would have been funny though

@@Buchaus I'm pretty surs the "may" ability is saying "would you like to have target player search". If you say yes, you pick a target and they have to search. So Jerry couldn't have declined to search

@@mordamen You actually have it kinda backwards. Partner with says "When this permanent enters the battlefield, target player may search their library for a card named [name], reveal it, put it into their hand, then shuffle their library.” You always have to target a player, but that player gets to choose whether they search for the card and shuffle or not.

Because the 5-pipped card back is trademarked by Wizards, so they can't legally use it in their production

I double checked, if you choose the English (canada) option, you are using the manual captions. If you're using the other one, that is youtubes auto captions. Are you saying you have an issue with the english-canada version of the captions?

@@TheSpikeFeeders Yes - the Eng Canada version shorthands things that the captioner seems to have decided isn’t important, like banter in between game actions, or comments like “(more patreon shilling)” rather than actually transcribing people’s words

Sure. I (Maddy) am the person who manually captioned these games, and all our games that have manual captions. So I'm genuinely curious about why you would call it half assed. Captioning videos is really time consuming (so hats off to the people who do it for a living). Each of these episodes took me at the time, probably 3-4 hours of work. Some of them take longer. I actually put a lot of effort into doing these, because there are people who have said it helps them a lot in consuming our content. Sometimes I add captions like (more patreon shilling) etc, either because I personally didn't think it added value to the gameplay video, or because it messes with how RU-vid connects the captions to the timestamps of the video, or because people talk over each other and I genuinely can't decipher what they're saying. And sometimes, it's because I'm trying to speed the process up a little bit. But I can assure you that it's something that matters a lot to me. I'm definitely interested if you think there's anything I can do to make our captions better in the future though, we haven't added them to many of our recent videos because I haven't had the time to sit and do them, but I'm trying to find a process to make them faster, and then hopefully more accurate.

The purpose of captioning is to allow all your viewers to have the same understanding of what’s being said, my honest suggestion is to keep that philosophy at the back of your mind and try to avoid shorthanding whenever possible, so that the two versions (written and audio) are as close a match as possible. That way neither group is missing out on parts of the conversation. And, sincerely, thanks for taking the time to listen and at least be receptive of feedback. I initially just launched my frustrated comment into the void, not expecting a response. Captioning is very difficult and time consuming, I agree, and I apologise for devaluing your work in a moment of frustration.
