What makes you think the next patch is the final one? I’m just curious I thought smash would continually be supported for a while via multiple balance updates…
So, to those who don't understand this, I'll explain. (Tldr at the bottom) Scintilla's hurtbox is just a barrier in front of Sephiroth and if any hitbox touches Scintilla's hurtbox, it'll activate and turn Sephiroth invincible for a short time to ensure the move actually hits the counter instead of Scintilla activating but no hitbox coming out of it. Since Scintilla is actually taller than Sephiroth's hurtbox, it can get hit above and below before it hits Sephiroth. The hitbox is Scintilla gets bigger if it activates the counter which almost completely covers Sephiroth's hurtbox and since Joker's forward smash leans him forward, the move connects allowing this clip to exist Tldr: Scintilla is taller than Sephiroth and the hitbox is even bigger
Yeah this^^^^ in addition to the fact that if you throw a Scintilla out and the enemy's move hits behind it, you get smacked. This clip isn't an example of it being busted, it's more an example of a lucky/1000iq correctly placed counter. pls dont patch tho
To add to this: Sephiroth’s hurtbox does not act as a hit-detection area so he can’t counter moves from behind. However, Joker’s f-smash hitbox comes out on frame 16 meaning that it doesn’t immediately hit someone the moment someone inputs the the move. And since Joker was very close to Sephiroth, the hit box only came out when Joker’s hands were touching Scintilla; the hitbox was not there beforehand. Lastly, since Joker’s hurtbox was extended due to him lunging forward during the f-smash, the counter hitbox of Scintilla was able to hit him. Thus, due to bad spacing and Scintilla’s really large hit detection, Joker got hit with Sephiroth’s counter. Thanks for coming to our Ted talk.
Nah, they can see it. They've probably seen how Sephirpth's down-B can one-shot Sephiroth when Kazuya reflects it, so they shouldn't see any need to nerf it. Then again, this is based off of the idea that they are using common sense....
There actually no i-frame on sephiroth down-b raw, joker just miss sephiroth because of the way joker f-smash worked there's only a hit box in front of him so the hitbox hit sephiroth counter wall .... There is i-frame when the counter wall is hit however
Funny that you included that voice clip in the end because when I was modding smash ultimate I installed a mod that gives him kh/dissidia/crisis core sephiroth’s voice
So alot of people already explained why this happened, another reason is also because Jokers fsmash is garbage, it looks like it has range but I swear it wiffs so damn hard on things it should've hit, so basically not only is Seph's counter slightly bigger than himself, the way Jokers fsmash works (atleast from the way I see it, after all I could be completely wrong ofcourse) also plays into why this happened.
Haha but seriously: Sora's counter does the same thing but he then turns around to face the right direction and hit you, like a normal counter would do. Why? :'
??? there's nothing to show?? the counter hit box acted exactly as it's made to and joker attacked it there by activating the counter as well as moving his character forward just enough to get hit by the counter. if you think something is wrong here you simply don't understand hit boxes
I think not everyone knows his counter is taller than he is, so people were wondering why it hit the counter but not Sephiroth. It is okay for things to be explained to people
