i know its a bit of a late reply but I speculate the beard went because the developers didn't expect for Wilson to have a beard so they didn't make the sprite animations for the bearded Wilson or either Wilson's beard resets.
Eeeeeh, it would probably have been better for everyone if he just hadn’t pulled them into the Constant in the first place, but who knows? Maybe the shadow people forced his hand on that.
imagine being a tallbird, and having your parent tallbirds tell you about maxwell, their great creator. Years down the road, you finally meet him and all he says is "this one was a failed experiment" or something along those lines.
the worst part about this, is that when wilson walks up to maxwell, the flames are turned off. I think that means that maxwell has been sitting in the throne in complete darkness, just listening to that song for an eternity being watched by the shadow puppets
Well... Maxwell also say there's nothing much in constant. Lot of thing player see is what Maxwell create with Power of Throne He create the creature and more
actually doesnt. it’s shown in a video (i forgot which) where wilson was in that seat but the torches were on but they turned off signifying that someone was coming and charlie eventually came
@@samuel-aka-contepic it was shown in the don't starve together intro trailer, and honestly its strange then since it just changes back and forth because i doubt wilson saw charlie in pitch blackness.
the scream being louder than the other accordion noises is what makes it unsettling. plus after only hearing the characters speak in accordion, you become familiar with that being their way of speaking, which makes the scream even more disturbing
This is kind of creepy, since the characters talk in instruments... that could mean that Ragtime song wouldve been people talking to the shadows, like DONT KILL ME! Dont kill me! But their sounds were being manipulated but they were still saying that same thing the whole way trhiugh. Creepy.
It's so eerie how the song starts again... You'd expect some creepy song with a real "the game was rigged so you would be damned in the end all along!" vibe, but it just plays that song again...for eternity.
+J's Flying Machine to be honest though.. if there was a song i would listen to for an eternity it would be probably this one... or maybe "taking the hobbits to isengard"
It gives the feeling that is over, that he can't do anything but hope and curse someone to take his place, that the shadows will be haunting him for a really long, long time... AND LISTENING TO THAT "MUSIC" FOR MORE THAN HALF AN HOUR, GOD! Maybe it isn't totally music! If the characters speak like that, it could easely be people screaming!
Here's how to have a happy ending in Don't Starve: Free Maxwell (or Wilson if he's been freed already) as WX-78. He'll take the place on the throne, and since he's an automaton, he'll live forever and shouldn't really care. It's like how soldiers use drones in dangerous missions.
I'm going to be trying adventure mode soon. Will the character with whom I complete it become locked since he or she will be trapped on the throne, or can you have all the characters unlocked at the same time?
I'm going to take the liberty of translating your post so we can all read it: "Well, he is a robot, but he hates humans and has feelings, though." - Diego Borgerth The bottom line is that YOU control WX-78. Sure his character may hate humans, but he doesn't do anything you don't tell him to. If you want him to take Maxwell's place, he'll do it.
Minor detail here: the eyes in the darkness usually only appear when the player is low on sanity. However, in checkmate, the eyes appear even at top sanity. Just a tiny detail that's really creepy.
Yea Charlie is like, “so I can be the thing that kills ‘em in the dark, AND I can be the one on the nightmare throne so none of the survivors have too? score!!”
So the right thing to do is bring a hound to the final world, put it to sleep, put the divining rod in it's paw and force it to put the rod into the key hole. :)
guitar antihero yeah, how about these suggestions. Wilson: More pigs spawn Willow: Everything is hotter Wolfgang: Food is more common Woodie: More resources WX 78: More clockwork Wickerbotttom: Sanity gets affected more dramatically. Maxwell: More monsters. Wigfrid: More creatures Webber: spiders deluxe Winona: Days last longer You should also be able to turn these things off
+cazyman xephos When I first did this: CRAP Wilson's stuck? I'm going to go try to save him. I bring my favorite character, He gets taken... NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
The sound Maxwell made when dying sent chills down my back. everything about it sends chills down my back actually. the way his bones just crumbled to pieces and turned to dust, the way that the shadows grabbed Wilson, and the way he looked so terrified of what just happened. or what is GOING to happen.
ARandomRU-vidr Its not that hard if you rush through it. Dont try to make a big base, only in Two Worlds and Aechipelago, all the other stages should be rushed. Also pick WX and eat gears for full replenishment.
CidGuerreiro1234 Well, ive been playing normal Dont Starve, and the farthest Ive gotten to is the hounds because they caught me off gaurd. But yeah, Ill take your advice. Thanks
Soon you'll be laughing at how easy the hounds are in the first 100 days or so. But you should probably play the sandbox a lot more before going into Adventure Mode.
+WaffleGiraffe Empathy is stronger when the person you have empathy for has no control over their situation. Another reason could be that you just didn't like the thought of being in that situation.
+Echo TheEcho Who can like it? Trapped without control, no way out, not even death, with the same music forever, knowing your friend who came with you suffers a horrible fate, and your only chance at freedom is forcing someone else to this horrible fate.
I love how the different stuff around the small island show Maxwell’s experimentation. He’s truly done everything in his world, which is why his only amusement is now bringing others in to suffer.
2013 was such a golden age for unique indie games. I remember browsing youtube for hours watching stuff that spotlighted games like this and games like “Sir, You’re being hunted” and that one airship game which had a group of four players control and air ship to take down other airships. Maybe it was cuz i was younger and didn’t realize most of those were actually pretty mediocre, and i only really saw the concept rather than the gameplay. Like i had an idea of what playing the game was like, even though i literally saw what playing the game was like. I was like ten, i’m 16 now. I just got a gaming computer and i wish indie games were as prevalent, but i really just don’t see as many of them anymore. Maybe i’m just dumb and feeling nostalgic, lol.
Only thing I can think of to improve this ending would be to have the day be 9999 when you enter, and when you get put on the nightmare throne it goes back down to day 1
this is probably one of the most best video game endings, but like the insane thing is, it dosent even end! Its just a continuous suffering eternity. Poor wilson never got his freedom.
I love that song, i could listen to it for eternity, plus you never die, and have amazing powers, all that and you get to sit down during that time? amazing.
I completed it yesterday with Willow and wish I explored more instead of just going straight to Maxwell! The set up around him is interesting.. as if he had an established base himself before he got captured! Would be interesting if you completed adventure mode with Maxwell again, and get him stuck, again 🤣
Fun fact: the song that maxwell listens to has the same base tune as hoedown (the music that plays when you turn into a Canadian beaver, goose, or a moose)
So what if you go to the nightmare throne as Maxwell when Maxwell is on the throne? Or going to the throne as Wilson when Wilson is already on the throne?
Currently working on Maxwell freeing Maxwell. We'll see how that goes down. Maybe a paradox where the game breaks and everyone becomes Maxwell. Instead of freeing himself the ultimate backfire occurs. Or maybe the game compensates by throwing someone else on the throne. I'm hoping for the former.
i experienced the ending first hand before. it was a smack of relief for me to finally finish it. i was playing since the beta and i love the game so much. now i see all these updates going all around, and i'm so happy that there's a community going on that i can share my interests with
Ahh, the old memories of unlocking Maxwell. Admitevly, at first i used cheats since i just wanted to get him, as the adventure mode seemed simply impossible to me, buuuut after some time i really felt guilty about that, so i've reset the progress of the game, and went through adventure mode normaly, and after gaining experience in the game, it was much easier than i expected it to be! And the incredible feeling of success afterwards was really worth it
