I'm Russian and I'm very good at English. The teachers think I learned it from lessons, and the English teacher tells the class to learn English, showing me as a good example. The problem is... I learned English from memes and videogames.
In italy it's exactly the same. My (equivalent to) 10th grade english teacher even yelled at me really angry when I asked if she could speak some english while she explained things.

Second of all get out of here u probably went to a private school to learn any of that cuz there's no way in the fresh hell u learned that in public school so get out of here rich and privileged. Third of all stop being a frackin karen. Get out of here with ur "education" bs
Don't get angry and spout insults that is the quickest way to shut down debate. I get where you're coming from, but I have to disagree. If you taught parental skills on a basic level it would help immensely. The state already has a monopoly on education. The only way to get it back, is to educate the population into understanding they have a vote and how to use it. We do not live in a dictatorship yet, you can go to every town hall meeting and discuss the curriculum and how you would like it to change. The state should be teaching personal responsibility. They should also be teaching the basic of child rearing. You do not need to teach people how to raise their children politically, only to communicate and how to do that. Changing diapers, what milestones and age they should be at, how to play with them to encourage development, how much you should be spending on average, the health benefits of breastfeeding, exc. I see absolutely no problems in teaching basic child rearing. If you're worried about tyrants having control over education, you should be worried about that when they first created public schooling. I think putting control of education into the hands of the student would only help with that. After all, right now all they learn is what the state dictates. They have very little control over what they learn, and if they do it would eat up all the free time they could spend on their Hobbies.
@@benjaminparent4115 Well, they could at least show the different psychological effects different parenting methods have on children. Those are facts, and they don’t actually tell you directly how to parent, just what to expect if you parent a certain way. You make a good point but there is still opportunities to make the system better
@@benjaminparent4115 I also don't agree that children aren't smart enough to realize what they will need for the future. Try to remember what it was like being at that age. There is nothing wrong with a basic education on child rearing. Majority of the population are parents, not necessarily good parents but parents nonetheless. It is a vital skill and one that needs to be taught. It is a very rare individual that does not want or cannot have kids. I'm not saying to force those people into a child care class I'm saying more options would be beneficial. Children should absolutely get to choose what they learn. they are not stupid. Forcing children into subjects that they do not enjoy will not force them to learn it will only force them to memorize and comply.
@@benjaminparent4115 how do you expect to teach critical thinking and self-sufficiency when they are not allowed to choose their courses? If you cannot trust them to go to the bathroom by themselves, how can they even be trusted to explore a career? There's nothing wrong with tunnel vision. It just means that you excel in a certain area. There is no point in forcing a student who has no interest in art to pursue it. It is a waste of their time. There is no point in telling students what they should learn. If they are not interested in a subject they will not absorb it. You can disagree that child rearing is not important all you want. The basic fact is if you do not teach children to parent, they will always be children. The quickest way to allow your children to grow up is to treat them like adults. It is extraordinarily patronizing to them when you tell them what to do. You imply that they have no agency or intelligence and that is insulting. Do you see how quickly the conversation with them breaks down when you are coming at a position above them? I understand talking down to a 3-year-old. That should stop by age 12. You're an absolutely no position above them after 12 years old. The teachers should stop acting like Lords and more like public servants. They should serve our children the knowledge that they want to have. There is no reason why children should not pursue what most interests them. Self-taught learning is a very real, and very effective method. Imagine if you could, a school system in which a student is allowed to take control of their learning. How much specialization would you see in the workforce? Everyone seems to want the same thing but they disagree about how to get there. You say you want more problem solving. You don't get that with a memorization curriculum. You get that by giving them problems to solve. They should face immense but controlled problems in the school system. How to manage a schedule. How to choose what courses are best for them. How to arrange their day in the way that benefits both social lives and their sleep. You say you want problem solvers, but the system that you promote only gives us drones. And they are pissed as they have every right to be because we have failed them on every level educationally. Why do you think homeschool children and private school children do so much better in society? Could it be because they actually have a bit of ownership over their learning? Could it be that they're not jammed into a dictatorship of teacher versus student? You want one thing, but support the thing that gives you the same results. Please reconsider.
To be fair, I didn't learn anything useful in my later years of school. Different schools teach different things. The school I went to taught us nothing.
@Julio Cesar yeah, that's by far the most hardest drop of them all, almost like the chorus of this song. But to put it blunt, I have no idea why on earth schools insist on condom advice over actual childcare. I don't see any viable explanation as of why so many schools often prioritize this to be inside their school curriculum. p.s Agreed
@Julio Cesar Aye, schools are really vague about what's worth teaching the kids when it comes to these sensitive subjects. I'll be turning 15 soon and I had to watch some RU-vid videos just to learn how to use a condom. (Not that l'm actually sexually active, but as some just-in-case knowledge). The school's tactic of this "We have too many humans but teens aren't ready for decisions and explanations." Is pretty flawed. 90% of the people who graduate school will at least have families of their own, so it's only necessity to properly teach them how to become good parents. And getting kids can honestly happen to anybody regardless of wealth or job status. But If they're choosing to actually stick with that mentality. School's should've taught this in developing countries because that's where all the birth rates are rising in. Or fck it. If they want to slow population boom so badly then why not tell children to never have sex entirely.
100 Years ago students probably told the same thing and in 100 years students might say it still. No one (in politics) wants to change it, because its in their past, but in every kids future. Just selfish...

Most things are important based on what job you want when you grow up, plus if kids don’t learn this stuff, then the world will never get more innovative. But I do agree that some of the stuff you mentioned about being a basic adult should definitely be taught.
The stuff about being a basic adult is absolutely taught lmao. Most schools offer Home Economics and such. Also learning “useless” knowledge is still incredibly useful because it teaches you how to learn, which is a skill in and of itself. I wrote another reply to someone else that I’m going to paste her because it addresses a lot of this: “Same here. Then I grew up and realized he’s so wrong about everything lmao. Most schools do teach what he is complaining about, classes like Current Events and Home Economics are incredibly common. Financial Literacy is often taught as well, I learned it and I went to a small and underfunded public school. I was absolutely taught “what laws there are” as well. Not to mention that the main purpose of school isn’t the information that it gives you, like Boyinaband seems to think, it’s the experience, work ethic, self-application, socialization, routine, etcetera. School prepares you for real life in that way. Sure, will you really need the quadratic equation when you grow up? Probably not. But knowing how to learn a foreign and intangible concept is absolutely a skill you will use. Sorry for the rant, I just really hate when people have this specific complaint about the schooling system. It has its faults, but not this.”
@@titash3973 I would love for that to be a good idea but it would make children less unique because they would have been raised a certain way. My social studies teacher uses rap to help us remember dates and people of the topic were talking about, I remember one time when all my classmates were dancing on the tables screaming the lyrics xd
I understand the frustration. However, Pre-k all the way through high school is teaching you logic and critical thinking. It’s teaching you how to research and write papers. You learn numbers, science, and how things work. School helps you when it comes to discipline, homework, studying, and responsibility. You need all these skills for when you get into college. You have so much information thrown at you in college and what you learned throughout pre-k and high school comes to play when it comes to taking the information in, understanding it, knowing how to use it. College is where you really learn about taxes, mortgage, mental health, finances, politics, and so many other things. If people want to learn about these things, they have a choice to take these classes. We aren’t learning less, through Pre-k and high school, than generations before us. We even have it easier because if we don’t know something we can just google it. Our parents, grandparents, and even earlier on had to figure out everything either through college, parents, experience, etc. They really had to make an effort to figure how to do these things, when we really don’t have to make much of an effort at all to figure it out.
@@twilight568 yes, all of that is true, but collage can be expensive so do only the people who can afford it get to learn about mortgage and stuff. I know there are collage loans, but some people don't wanna be in dept. Also, some people don't have the time to go to college because they have to look after their kids, younger siblings, or even elders in their family. I know online colleges exist but some people can't afford internet, because they don't have a job and never were taught how to get one or simply their current job doesn't pay enough. And the way school is organized, they tell you WHAT and WHEN to do something meanwhile in life your boss isn't gonna put up with telling you what to do every step of the way. So, there should be some lesson in school that teaches you that stuff.
It is so sad that this is so true. They never see how much pain we are going through on the inside. One of my best friends has to live up to the expectations of all of the teachers of being the second best student in my class of 41 kids. She is in higher level classes, she has to devote all of her lunch period and all of her time at home doing homework, she barely gets any sleep, she is depressed, her girlfriend has anxiety and she feels the need that she needs to fix it because no one else will, and I have seen her get so stressed that she burst out crying in the bathroom. On top of that she is a lesbian that is not accepted by her parents because they are Christians and think that she will just "get over it". It is sad that the fact that my friends and I can talk about killing ourselves without even thinking about it because that is how we were raised and how bad our mental state is. Another one of my friends has thought about committing suicide because of her parents. She is so depressed I don't think that she even realizes it anymore. Her parents constantly berate her and tell her whenever anything goes wrong that it is all her fault. She has to pay for her own clothes and all the school trips we go on. The only time her parents ever spend money on her is through food. And she has child support coming in for her. They are taking that money and none of it is even going towards her. She didn't even know that she could leave her parent's house before she was eighteen and move in with a relative that can support her. I ended up looking the law up myself and that is the only reason she knows about it. This is crazy. They should start getting rid of the useless stuff and start teaching us laws and how to help us in these situations.

Same. I thought bipolar was a joke like how people use retarded, i only thought that because a "friend" said it was. And then i was calling a kid bipolar cuz i thought it was a joke and the next year he was making threats of self harming
Ah yes, the greatness of living in a country with no taxes, I don’t know what taxes are but all I know is that they take money from people and that must suck.
