Modern sofas are no longer what they used to be. These are mainly inflated models with voluminous armrests that take up a lot of space or are equipped with special pillows that replace the backrest.
Inside such pillows there is foam rubber or holofiber (perhaps this material has a different name).
We lean our backs on them all the time, as a result the filler shifts and shifts. The rectangular shape becomes fuzzy and blurry. The pillows on my sofa sagged, the corners became empty, the shape changed. The appearance is not so attractive.
What have I done?
- First, I unzipped the zipper and looked at the filling inside. She took the pillow out of the cover and fluffed it well, spreading the holofiber into the corners.
- The pillow became rectangular and even again.
To keep the shape the same, I will tighten and stitch the buttons in two places.
- For this you will need buttons with loops. I selected similar fabric from the scraps and cut out circles larger than buttons. Then I gathered the fabric in a circle with stitches, put a button inside and pulled it off.
- I laid out the cover on the table and marked two points for buttons at the same distance, and made the same marks on the back side.
- To work, you will need a large gypsy needle, 20 cm long. I cut out small circles from the leather for the backing for the buttons, this is so that the fabric does not tear during use.
Pulling the pillows:
- I threaded a leather gasket onto the needle, then threaded it through the button. I pierced the pillow from the front side and took the needle out from the back side to the marked point. This operation is best done together.
- I put another pad on it again, put a button on it, then another pad. I pierced the pillow 0.5 cm from the first puncture and again pierced the pillow.
- From the opposite side I inserted a needle into the gasket. The seam was pulled together and the thread was tied into knots, then the thread was wrapped around the button several times and the knots were tied again.
- The thread must be strong. I used Iris in 3 folds.
- Thus, they quilted the pillow in other places.
The sofa looks neat and attractive again.
