They don't use language to communicate. They use language to manipulate.

The buzzwords are dogwhistles. They don’t care what they mean. They are calling out to their tribe.

"We have to win to save democracy." Just like, "We have to pass it before we can read it." - Pelosi on the Obamacare bill. They think we are complete idiots.

This is why they avoid debate. A debate may involve an obligation to define their terms, and that may uncover the truth.

I spotted a new word recently: "consequences." When they say "you don't have the freedom from the consequences of your speech," they mean you should not be protected from consequences such as harassment, fines, losing your job, or even being physically attacked or imprisoned for the use of those words, which normal people would not think because you are generally protected from these consequences regardless. They are not warning you of the natural consequences like people not liking you. They are advocating for new consequences previously not considered legal. There are memes where people assault others for their speech and in the comments all you see is people affirming the appropriateness of these "consequences" and few to none noting that that is actually a criminal action and immoral.

Hopefully lots of normies will be exposed to this.

One of my degrees is in philosophy. I have been trying to figure out how I spent years in the philosophy department at an ultra liberal school, without having been fully indoctrinated. I've figured out two factors; (1) my philosophy department operates so much in the natural philosophy, analytic philosophy tradition that it is not even in the humanities department, and largely doesn't deal with any of this except tangentially in the history of philosophy class; (2) my systematic tendency to wave off any philosophy or theory that relies so much on jargon that you have to understand entire theoretical concepts to be able to read a single sentence -- that's simply bad writing at best, sophistry at worst. As a result, I've gone years hearing Marxist language from peers, thinking I understand it when actually it's been code for something else. This is a very confusing realization to come to.

With all due respect to James, I would urge anyone not to trust woke language, woke culture, woke food, woke endeavors of any sort, woke people, just anything woke.

We share a language but they have their own dictionary

First noticed this when I tried reading Pedagogy of the Oppressed (a recurring villain on this channel) almost 10 years ago. I got 10 pages on and then realized I didn’t understand one word of what I read despite the words themselves being familiar. It was like it was a completely different language that happened to be using the same alphabet as me. Unnerving, to say the least.

One of my favorites is "Care", which went from "an affectionate regard for..." to "an unspecified medical entitlement" i.e. health care, vision care, elder care, pet care, etc.

I find there are two helpful ways in to considering these slippery new terms: 1) what does it mean in practice, where does it end, and what is not covered by the term, and 2) to what extent can you sub out the term for a very well-known word from theology or sectarian debates of old. For example: equity, sounds nice, there's a meme about standing on boxes looking over a fence, but this is irrelevant, as it entails equal outcomes. Equal outcomes do not happen even within families, or friends. How could it happen at school, a workplace, a board, a social service? If the system created inequity, someone probably gained greater share or advantage, and someone less. In order to give someone who has less the same as someone who has more you would need to ignore how the person who had more got that way. Maybe they're smarter, worked harder, had capital, made better decisions, were lucky. Is the answer to take those things away to level the playing field? How? Under what law and with what cops are you going to achieve that? Example 2: hurtful or harmful speech against protected minorities, which is weird because speech is a protected right and the balance of rights of the individual is already protected, including at law, where - short of incitement - speech can't hurt because it's just speech. But apparently it's bad and a social ill? I see, we're talking about blasphemy, and resistance to the overall construct is heresy. And what if I don't buy "intergenerational trauma" as a thing or an explanation for basically anything? Or inherited responsibility for something that happened 200 years ago? Or retributive justice? (Or anything Adjective-Justice). That would be because this is pulled straight out of the Old Testament - original sin, and retribution. It's all very Calvinist. We've been here before - the socialist wing of the missionary enterprises in the 1920s had the same debates.

You should watch the videos from Kirsche she recently cut together about BRIDGE and SHRM which aren't just rebranding DIE but attempts to establish woke operationalisition on all levels of the company thus making a specific DIE team superfluous.

A good way to end a conversation with a wokester is ask them for definitions to their terminology. In every case I've encountered they don't have an answer.... seems most of them bugle these buzzwords when making accusations yet they don't even know their meanings. This is astonishing to me.

A conversation or a dialectic is like a game, and the language used is part of the rules of the game. Agreeing to use woke language is like letting someone else modify the rules to their advantage.

I’m getting really good at intuiting misused language. That’s how I found PBIS, MTSS, and Restorative Justice programs in schools. MTSS is super common in Michigan and nobody knows how big of a problem it is.

I want a prefix for a communist corrupted word. To start applying it, like ur- Oh you are talking about ur-democracy. I'm talking about the original 1985 (or whatever relevant year) version of the word.

Fascism was to the right of communism - which doesn't make it right wing - but also anything to the right of communism was both in competition with communism and more effective than communism in the things that communism claimed to value rather than the things that communism actually valued. And, the claim that the Left isn't authoritarian uses the same twisting of words and logic by claiming that everyone agrees with the communist project and if you don't agree with the communist project then you must be attempting to sabotage the communist project which removes you from the ranks of the people - i.e. you become a nobody regarding the people and in this way communism is all about voluntarism and communalism and so it doesn't need to be authoritarian. And nearly all of the disaffected Leftists who are trying to figure out their worldview after running afoul of the Leftist progressive (read as; regressive) and being read out of their previous society have tremendous difficulty shedding their programming so we constantly hear about right wing authoritarianism and how fascism is right wing, I suppose on the broken assumption that it is so because it tends towards nationalism, sometimes.

Woke language affords synthesis. It does not translate to Common Sense. Your common sense tries to marry the term to reality, but there is no correspondence between reality and praxis. Their words do not have definitions, they have usages. They cannot be found in the dictionary, it is explained in the user’s manual.

Control the language, you control the thinking.

We simply need learn to understand the linguistic "sound" of their language. For instance, if you live in France for a while, even if you only learn a few French words, you'll recognize when you're hearing French, you won't mistake it for Italian even though they're in the same language family, and you certainly won't mistake it for Japanese or Russian.

No one calls them out on it. For example, "gender affirmative care" really means "sex change assistance." Even more conservative news outlets like the Wall St. Journal uses their language. JUST STOP IT!!

Thanks James, I agree completely. My background in IT included a need for definitional accuracy, specifically in relation to attributes assigned to categories. One thing that is evident in most ideologies is definitional errors, intentional for the most part, where groups supposedly gain individual attributes and functions. I coined my own term for this, genophilia, which broadly speaking is invalid and obsessive use of categorisation. I find it useful, although any term for intentional mischaracterisation would work.

The democracy thing is about saying that the enemy wants to abolish all rights and is evil making all methods of fighting the enemy legitimate. To save democracy, to save their country everything is allowed, that includes standing the so called enemies of democracy up against a wall. And who are these enemies? I literally woke up one day and I was a bad guy. I’m divorced and was going to pick up my kids on a Saturday morning in May 2021 when my ex sent a message saying “the kids have issues with being around you…we need to postpone your visitation.” I haven’t seen them since. It turns out I made the mistake of openly supporting Trump. I also admitted that I did not support and was not an ally of the LGBT movement or BLM or Antifa and I would not use peoples preferred pronouns. that I saw it for what it was, and I refuse to use compelled speech. I openly admitted that I thought wearing a mask was ridiculous and I thought Covid was exactly what it has become, a welcome mat for totalitarianism. BIG Mistake! In my state with all the woke therapists and attorneys, I essentially lost all contact with my children. That is how I came to where I am today.

Definitely useful information. Language is an important tool that is used to shape peoples thoughts from deliberately selecting words and how they're used. It's used everywhere.

Lol, this is so true James. You would have loved to have been a fly on the wall in the teachers meeting a few years ago when I laid out this very concept to them. I said DEI doesn't mean what many of you think it means. Diversity use to mean just having a lot of different individuals with different ideas, but now it means centering Marxist dogma. Equity has always been a trap, since America was founded on Equality not Equity. Inclusions use to mean taking the time to listen and explore everyone's ideas and discussing their merit, but it now means including Marxist dogma as the new gospel that can not be challenged or discussed in terms of it's actual merit or the lack there of. My colleges said I was completely wrong, then over the course of a few years, the kids started chopping off healthy body parts and taking cross sex hormones. Obviously not all of the kids, but a staggering number of them. I said I told you so, and they pretended like we never had that conversation, but I could see it in their eyes that they did remembered all too well and were ashamed. Yet the majority of them are too weak to speak up, so I speak up for them. Like you said James, it's only going to get harder to speak up the longer you wait.

Personally, as a student of language I have a built in meter. When I hear it I know it. I do not countenance it and I certainly make certain they know I am on to them. This way they will either go away or get ready for battle. They Never want battle so they slink off almost always.

This is why I refuse to say " people of color" and "cisgender", for example. I'm disappointed in people who claim to be fighting against Woke, but have adopted Woke, Marxist language.

Technically that is rate, but specifically other market pressures factor in and allow them to hide what inflation realy is. One thing I find interesting is that a lot of these concepts apply even outside of wokeness. Like, in terms of religion, JWs, are a cult, similar to the woke cult, they use all the same language as Christians, but when they say the same words they mean something completely different. Which makes communication difficult. Which is kind of the point of most cults, essentially controlling people by having their entire belief system and means of speaking only function within cult boundaries and ideology. Strangely, though obviously not the same situation, Jordan Peterson also uses Christian language in a different way to how its typically used. Though in his case I imagine its more of his perspective on religion as a good societal tool (rather than simply true) so he's saying the same words in their "objective" meaning rather than how they are typically used. At least, from his perspective.

This is why I keep telling people that sexual objectification doesn't exist. I don't objectify the cashier or my masseuse, but I don't care about them either. I didn't objectify them by not caring about them and just using them to service my needs, so I don't objectify women when I treat them in the same depersonalized manner. What about the terms "cis" and "trans?" I tend to like the terms because they allow us to make distinctions. For instance, I like to say that it is unfair for trans girls and trans women to compete, head-to-head, against cis women and cis girls. But the ICONS people are offended when I use cis and trans. They say there are only women and men. That "trans women" are not women at all, and we should not use cis and trans. What do you think?

Now, when you use terms like "Child Sexual ABuse" you call into existence and validate the concept of "Child Sexual USE", which I suppose would be to "Elevate the status of one's family by attracting a high-value mate". See the effect of royal marriages and love affairs on world history. Now every time you hear "Abuse", change the word to "Use" and see how you feel. People often resent being only "used" as well as "abused".
