I feed my cats on Corelle salad plates. Water bowls are Corelle small casserole dishes. Wide and shallow enough not to rub their whiskers.

The vet recommended me ceramic bowls (: I guess stainless steel works too!

Had stainless steel bowls but switched them out for more plate-like dishes (stainless steel). Water fountain and litter box stainless steel also. Love it, so easy to clean and I don't need to worry about getting my cat sick unintentionally by plastic. The stainless steel is much lighter than ceramic and doesn't crack or break which I find helpful.

I see many comments about ceramic and glass bowls. Those are fine as long as you routinely check them for cracks and chips. Stainless steel is going to be more durable though.

Harder to clean if. . .you don't regularly clean it I'm assuming. Our bowls get a daily rinse/scrub and go through the dishwasher when it runs every few days.

I boil my cats bowls once a week! Wish I could boil their water fountain, but it has plastic parts that cant be removed so i try to clean it very thoroughly & use white vinegar to help sanitize it!

I didn’t know about plastic bowls or cat acne till one of my kitten got acne on his chin. Switched all the bowls to ceramic.

Personally, I just use 15 regular small ceramic dish bowls that I regularly clean in the dishwasher about every other day. I just grab a new dish at every meal, and replace their water bowl every day. No muss, no fuss. Word of warning --- don't use paper plates with a glaze, since they can contain forever chemicals that seep into cat food. I distrust plastic plates for similar reasons, given that they're starting to find microplastics in human blood these days.

I use shallow ceramic bowls for two of my cats, stainless steel for one, and a shallow slow feeder plastic bowl for my fourth. Washed every day and they all still get chin acne :/ Vet said that it is possible that it could be just something in the house. She had one cat that constantly had acne no matter what type of dishes she used, but when they moved houses, the acne went away.

ceramic bowls have to be changed out often bc bacteria forms in scratches. this is bc it is hard to clean the scratches out thoroughly.

Yes. One of my cats had like ulcers on her lips. The vet told us to dump the plastic bowls and go with stainless steel. We switched over to stainless steel and ceramic bowls and she's been so much healthier since.

If you're feeding ferals and leaving out the bowls for a period of time, I don't recommend stainless. Sitting in the sun will heat up the bowls, water and food.

Glass bowls are good too. Rae Dunn makes great cat and dog bowls. I’ve had mine for years, and they hold up nicely. They are easy to clean and very clean looking. I got mine at TJ Max very cheap.

Stainless steel bowls can also cause problems sometimes the other metals Leach out and sometimes animals are allergic I think ceramic or Corelle is better

Stainless steel can cause whisker fatigue. My cats used to pull the food out of their stainless steel bowls with their paws to avoid using it. I eventually got a wide but lightly deep plate/bowl from hmart made from ceramic and they seem to like it better. It was only $2.99, and a quality I would also eat out of. I would suggest something similar

What about melamine? -- Whether that or stainless steel or ceramic, I scrub my cat's dishes after each feeding for wet food, every few days for dry food, and the dry food is nearly always in. steel bowl. Water dishes are almost always steel.

My cat uses those bowls and also kitten size bowls. Both are really easy to clean.

I bought a NEW 2 1/2 Gallon Plastic Bucket that I fill with Fresh Water every day... No Bio Film in 3 Years because I change it EVERY DAY...

Mallory! Do you think a Short would be a good idea for people trying to decide on when a cats birthday is? My third cat doesn’t want to leave so I have to figure out his birthday and add him to my Trust😅

My one cat has to eat out of a soft plastic so called "lick mat" because he eats too fast. We just put the wet food on the mat and smoosh it in with a spoon. We have plenty of them and they all get washed in the dishwasher regularly.

That goes for humans as well.😊 Nonstick and aluminum cookware is unhealthy. Stainless steel 🎉🎉🎉

YES! This is my "soapbox"! I preach stainless steel to other cat owners at every opportunity. Plus, you can soak stainless steel in a bleach solution to kill pathogens like distemper and feline leukemia, which is really important if you're doing cat rescue, have fosters or feeding stray cats!
